For a long ti, neither father nor son could find their tongue.

The Adler family.

The one family they had tried their best to avoid.

They could handle other mbers in the family, but Jett Adler, the man leading the family itself, was the real problem.

He’d grown up in front of everyone, yet he remained utterly unpredictable, mysterious and invincible.

At such a young age, he built the Adler family into a fortress. That alone was terrifying. It was sothing people usually spent their entire lifeti to achieve.

Yet he did it in about ten years.

They had stayed off his part all these years only to touch his tail directly?

Cole exhaled shakily and calmly shook his head in refusal.

"My grandson is ntally unstable. He’s a danger to society, and as his grandfather, I know it’s better to keep him inside than to let him out."

"We understand this may be inconvenient for you and your family, but we hope you understand this is in the best interest of him and the public."

The words had barely rolled off his lips when the door to the hospital was pushed open and the sa man who’d been dragged in screaming walked out, now dressed in a clean white shirt and black pants.

"What is this? You can’t just pull your rank here and have a ntally ill patient released without the approval of family!" Thomas assud the worst and snapped indignantly at Daniel, gritting his teeth in irritation.

Serbian reached them and pulled out his phone, sneering, "In your haste to have them lock up, they didn’t bother dusting down properly to take my phone."

"I also struggled so hard the nurse didn’t inject properly because she was afraid she’d hurt with the needle, so she barely pushed anything in."

"So I pretended to fall asleep and called a friend of mine after you were all gone. He vouched for my sanity and got released."

"And you also seed to forget sothing important: I’m an adult. A man nearly in his thirties. Must be annoying to realize you don’t control as much as you’d like to."

He stopped talking and glanced around. When he saw the car with the word ’Adler’ on the license plate, he turned and began walking toward it.

He had just taken three steps toward it when Cole’s resolute voice reached his ears, prompting him to stop.

"Serbian Howard, you take one more step away from us, you damn your family and I will not have that."

"So make your choice now. Your position as the Howard family heir... or this woman yorue so in-love with?"

Daniel’s brows knitted slightly.

Oh, so that’s what this was about.

"The family? Don’t make laugh." Serbian, on the other hand, scoffed without turning to look behind him.

"We both know you didn’t put in there because you cared about . You put there because you didn’t want going to jail and embarrassing the family."

"A family like this—one that would throw under the bus and not even let feel remorseful for what I did? I decided a long ti ago to be done with it."

"So we train you, give you the best education, and you..." Thomas started, on the verge of yelling when Serbian cut him off with a sneer.

"Oh, you’re still young. Just think of as a project gone wrong and have one of those won you’re seeing give you another heir. This son is out."

Daniel and the butler silently watched the exchange until Serbian continued heading to their vehicle.

Daniel nodded politely to the security guards before following.

The butler assud the driver’s position, while the two n sat in the back, not saying a word to each other the entire drive back to the hospital.

Hidden in-between his legs, Daniel’s hands were tightly pressed together.

Rembering that this man had shot Kelsie, unprovoked, was working him up badly. But Jett wanted him alive for so reason.

However, the mont it turns out he shot Kelsie for no reason... the Howard family would be picking up his body for burial.

Twenty minutes later, the car pulled to a halt outside the hospital and the two other people quickly alighted.

Serbian hesitated before he got out, then stood outside the hospital building for several seconds before quietly following Daniel inside.

The ride up to the floor Kelsie’s ward was on felt like an eternity. When the elevator finally stopped, he hesitated again before be followed them out, face lowered, until he stepped into her ward.

But that was it. He simply stood at the door, refusing to move any further.

Jett, who was feeling Kelsie’s temperature, heard the door open and turned.

Maxwell had gone to get food, so it had just been him and Kelsie until now.

He straightened up and glanced toward Serbian.

"You wouldn’t have co if you didn’t have sothing to say. I’m very impatient right now. So let’s refrain from testing ."

Serbian raised his eyes.

Seeing Kelsie on the bed wirh tubes stuck in various parts of her body, he clenched his fist so tight his knuckles turned white.

"He told she’d spend the rest of her life in prison. I didn’t fall for it because I’m gullible, I fell for it because I’ve seen firsthand how good of a manipulator he is."

"The power he wields. The people in power who do his bidding. He arranged for to get into the courtroom ard at the exact mont Kelsie was to be sentenced."

Jett had already guessed as much, so he wasn’t particularly surprised to have his suspicions confird.

Once Serbian stopped speaking, he turned to face him squarely.

"So what does he look like?"

Serbian’s eyes wandered for a mont, before he recounted, "He’s handso. Tall. Brown eyes. White hair. Should be in his fifties by now, but doesn’t look it."

Jett suddenly thought of sothing. "Does he limp?"

To that, Serbian nodded fervently.

"Yes, he does. He’s still in pain from the wound on his leg, so he always has soone handy to massage it for him. If I’m being honest, most of the ti I looked at his face... I see Kelsie in it it."

Outside the door, Maxwell, who had just placed a hand on the doorknob, froze upon hearing that.

The butler had been waiting nearby and naturally stopped too.

Stepping away from the door, Maxwell handed the food to him and narrowed his eyes at nothing.

"Tell , how long has it been since Lois’s bratty brother traveled abroad?"

The butler’s brow furrowed in thought before he answered, "I believe he’s been gone for a few months."

At this, Maxwell slipped both hands into his pockets and exhaled slowly, relief tinged with fury as he bit down hard on his lower lip.

"It’s him. That darn psychopath."
