"It’s been approved and sent to Silicone Police Station. Once they run the..." Maxwell Kensington was saying as he walked into the court with Jett and his butler when a familiar face suddenly rushed toward them, two officers chasing after him.
All this while, the police had misguided them into believing the murder weapon was a gun. So they concentrated all their strength and energy on finishing up with his work in progress.
He had even returned to his lab abroad and spent the entire night completing it in a hurry.
But now...
"Wh-what happened to her?" Jett’s eyes darkened as he stepped forward and reached out his hand to hold her.
However, Daniel refused and continued running with her, prompting Jett to run after him.
He didn’t speak until they got outside and saw the ambulance pulling in.
The police called them the mont Kelsie was shot, even before they restrained Serbian. Thankfully, they were in the area and had every necessary equipnts with them.
"Are you an imdiate family mber?" One of the paradics asked, stopping Daniel from getting into the back of the van.
"I’m... her fiancé." Jett said, stepping beside him before Daniel could think of what to say.
The paradic looked him over for a mont, then let him into the van.
Placing an oxygen mask over Kelsie’s nose, she briefly raised her eyes to ask him, "She’s lost a lot of blood. Do you know her blood type?"
"I do, but Kelsie doesn’t operate using blood, and she has it in writing that she doesn’t want any transfusions." Jett promptly retorted.
The second paradic, who was browsing through the cooler, paused.
"What? Is this like a religious thing?"
The one towering over Kelsie sighed. "Sir, if we don’t give her blood, she’s going to die. Did she know that when she signed the no-transfusion directive?"
Jett swallowed, eyes pinned to Kelsie’s pale face.
Just like them, he was taken aback to learn she already signed to refuse blood transfusions even in a life-threatening situation.
He didn’t know why, but he figured it was a personal decision and never asked. But now that it had co to this—now that her life was truly on the line—though he knew what to do, he couldn’t bring himself to tell them to break her wishes just to keep her alive.
"She’s lost about thirty percent of her blood. If it goes above forty, she’ll be dead before we reach the hospital." The first paradic reminded as he was taking too long to respond.
After thinking it through, he leaned toward her, forcing his dry throat to speak. "I know there are other options. Is there anything you can do to slow the bleeding until we get there?"
The paradics exchanged a look, then nodded.
"I’ve slowed her bleeding and started IV fluids."
"Hydroxyethyl starch supports circulation. Give it to her." The second paradic mumbled, closing the blood box and reaching for the hydroxyethyl starch.
The driver practically flew down the road until they reached the nearest hospital.
Jett didn’t notice at first, but the building they entered was a branch of Haven dical Center.
Doctors took over the mont she was wheeled in, and Jett was made to wait outside until the surgery ended.
He couldn’t sit still. So he got up and paced anxiously.
A few monts later, Daniel and Max Kensington arrived.
Maxwell had been filled in on what happened during their ride and was just as worried.
First, he had lost Lois. And now... her daughter?
He would never forgive himself if anything happened to another mber of the Lang...
A commotion suddenly erupted at the door, trailing off his thought process.
All he saw was a figure darting past him, heading toward Jett at full speed, but before the man could reach him, officers ran in and dragged him back.
As they restrained him, Serbian thrashed and scread for Jett to hear.
"I know you won’t believe this, but I’m trying to save her! Think about it—wouldn’t it be better if she just died than spent the rest of her life in prison?"
"It’s torture—for , for you, for her children. So before you hate , think of the good I did by pulling that trigger three tis!"
"What are you talking about? Who said Kelsie was going to prison?" Jett, who was already in such a bad place, leered hard at him, his voice laden with unspoken anger.
The man scoffed imdiately.
"Oh, don’t try to sugarcoat it. She was being frad for murder, we both know that. But the prosecutor had more than enough to jail her."
"Her fingerprints were on the murder weapon. A piece of evidence like that? You can’t argue with it!"
Hearing him defend his actions, Daniel couldn’t contain his rage and lunged himself at Serbian, slamming and kicking him wherever he could reach.
At so point, several officers left Serbian to hold him back.
Not contented with the beating he just gave Serbian, Daniel fought to free himself from the grasp of the officers.
When he couldn’t, he gnashed his teeth and lashed out furiously.
"The murder weapon wasn’t a gun, you stupid bastard! It was the victim’s hair and sister-in-law’s lawyers proved she was not guilty!"
"The judge was just about to pronounce her not guilty and declare her a free woman when you waltzed in and shot her three tis. Damn you!"
Serbian froze, his pupils instantly dilating in confusion.
"Wh-what? But he said... he said he had enough proof to send her to prison for life."
At that mont, the door to the operating room opened and the lead doctor stepped out.
Daniel imdiately forgot about Serbian and rushed over to him with Jett and Maxwell.
"We’re her family, you can tell us how she is." All three of them agreed to be her family before the doctor could even ask.
Taking off his glasses to wipe clean, the doctor swallowed.
"The patient wasn’t shot in any critical areas, but she went into shock during surgery and has fallen into a comatose."
Sowhere else, a certain man watched the live footage and a wide grin slowly spread across his face.
"Oh, Molly. You’ve been her friend for months. The others won’t have the heart to do it, but you can end her miserable suffering in comatose, right?"
Standing behind him, she didn’t raise her head and simply nodded, agreeing softly, "Of course. It’s the least I could do... for taking this long."
