The words rolled off his tongue so smoothly, a smile almost broke out on Kelsie’s face, but she got a grip on herself before that happened and frowned hard instead.
"Jett, aren’t you getting ahead of yourself?"
Jett ignored her, snapping his fingers as he made a decision.
"I won’t call you any. I’ll just call you my darling. It does have a nice ring to it, don’t you think??
"No, you don’t get to call that."
"Why not? You called Jett just now."
"That’s because you asked to and it’s your first na."
"We made an agreent. What kind of man would I be if I don’t honor it when you’ve already done so?"
"Jett Adler, my first na is Kelsie and none of those."
"Slow down, baby, you’re talking too fast and making it difficult to hear a word you’re saying."
"Ba-baby? Have you lost your mind?"
"Oh, look at the ti. I’m going to see my grandfather now. See you later, my darling."
Kelsie’s lips twitched irritably.
Not because he did everything she asked him not to, but because a part of her liked the na.
Darling.
It sure had a nice ring to it.
Her brows perked up in confusion when Jett got to the door and paused.
He remained still for so seconds before he reached out and pulled open the door, quickly stepping to the side as Holly and two other nurses tripped into the room.
Holly sucked in a deep breath, quickly improvising as she pretended to look around in confusion.
"Weird. Where am I?"
The second nurse laughed awkwardly.
"Oh, this isn’t the restroom? My bad, Dr. Sutton. I could’ve sworn we were standing outside the restroom a mont ago."
While the third nurse sighed softly.
"Don’t you have to et so patients this afternoon? We’ll leave now so you can get ready for your consultations."
Then they scurried out of the room in a hurry, but Jett slipped out with them.
"Will you three be at work tomorrow?"
The trio, who hadn’t noticed he was right behind them, stopped dead in their tracks, finding the voice familiar.
Just to be sure, they slowly turned around and stiffened seeing it was really who they thought it was.
Without a second thought, they clasped their hands together in front of them, pleading.
"We really didn’t an to eavesdrop, Mr. Adler."
"No, we didn’t. We just wanted to make sure everything was alright with you two."
"Please don’t fire us, we promise not to do sothing like this ever again."
Jett tilted his head in surprise.
"Fire you? Why would I fire you when you were just passing by and saw Dr. Sutton and I being all in-love with each other?"
Holly and the nurses glanced at each other in confusion before returning their eyes to him.
"What do you an?"
"Why does it sound like you’re asking us to do sothing?"
"And why does that sothing sound a lot like spreading rumors?"
Jett slipped both hands into his pockets and snickered.
"What do you an asking you to spread rumors? I’m not that sly. Don’t you usually discuss things you see during work hours with your colleagues? I’m rely asking you to do that once you et up with them."
Holly and the two nurses exchanged glances again.
But Holly was in a dilemma.
He was well aware Kelsie had a boyfriend, so it didn’t entirely sit well with her that Jett Adler was trying to take her from that fine gentleman.
Though she didn’t know what Kelsie’s boyfriend looked like, he had been so nice to her and the other dical staffs.
Unknown to her, she was the only one who didn’t know Jett Adler was the ’boyfriend’ who usually ca around then.
But the nurses with her and every other dical staff who had t with Jett knew he was that ’boyfriend’.
However, Holly didn’t know this and hence, never discussed it with them.
Because the person closest to Kelsie never discussed about how the most powerful man in the city was Kelsie’s boyfriend, the others never felt the need to. Hence; Holly continued remaining in the dark.
Sighing, she nodded in agreent.
She’d talk with Kelsie about that later. For now, she had to put herself and her job first.
"Oh, is that... is that so? Of course. We’d be happy to do that."
The two nurses nodded as wel.
"Absolutely!"
"Talking with them is the best part of work."
"I’ll leave it up to you, then." Jett exhaled lightly, then sauntered towards the elevator and headed to the top floor.
As soon as he stepped into Jack’s ward, he quickly stepped out of the way when sothing ca darting towards him.
Thud!
The notebook hit the door and dropped to the floor.
Jett bent over to pick it up, scrunching up his nose a little as he chided, "Didn’t your doctor tell you to take things easy?"
"If you use the energy you have left to throw stuffs at , how do you plan to live longer than this?"
Jack gritted his teeth in rage, grabbed another notebook and flung it at him.
"Get away from . I never want to see you again. You’re no longer my grandson!"
Jett caught the notebook with a straight face.
"Is it the drugs? Why are you suddenly being so dramatic?"
Jack snorted angrily.
"You clueless runt! You still have the cheek to talk back to when you refused to go out with such a nice woman!"
"I don’t know why, but it hurts so deeply that you didn’t et her yesterday. Forget it. A short-sighted punk like you doesn’t deserve Dr. Sutton."
Jett parted his lips to retort with sothing sarcastic, but paused when the na Jack ntioned sunk in.
"What did you just say?"
Picking up the glass of water on his desk, Jack raised a daring brow, "Why? Does it offend you I called you a punk or is it the part about you not deserving her?"
"Did you say Dr. Sutton?" Jett asked pointedly, inching closer to the bed.
Although surprised by the sudden change in countenance, Jack humd, "Mhm. She works here as a surgeon and recently beca my doctor. Her full na’s Kelsie Sutton. Why do you ask?"
Jett suddenly grabbed his grandfather’s hand.
"Grandfather, can you... set another date between us?"
