Jerry instantly shuddered, cold sweat breaking out on his forehead and soaking the back of his shirt as he stared up at the man in fear.
How could he forget the face of the perso who put him through hell for four months? And what? This devil was dating his daughter?
He was so petrified Kelsie could see the fear in his eyes.
And he wasn’t the only one taken aback.
While Deborah and Bryan also shuddered in fear, Laura was grinning from ear-to-ear.
Clapping very loudly, she laughed and pointed a finger at the duo, her voice trembling angrily as she said, "Did you hear that? Didn’t I tell you she was his plaything?"
Almost imdiately, the guests turned to each other in disbelief.
"What the hell! That must be Jett Adler. So Laura was saying the truth just now."
"I almost took her for a liar, but isn’t he into n?"
"I don’t know. He may be into both genders."
"Wha-what are you doing here, Mr. Adler?" After a while, Jerry stuttered uncomfortably, eyes still pinned on his face.
Only then did Jett recall he was still gripping Jerry’s wrist tightly and let go, taking a step backward in the process.
As Jerry gently massaged his bruised wrist, Jett unhurriedly reached into his suit jacket and took out an invitation.
"This was in my mailbox this morning."
Jerry blinked in realization.
Jett Adler was sent invitations by everyone hosting an event in the city.
It was a natural act from them even though he barely attended anyone. In fact, he never attended any.
So he didn’t deem it necessary not to mail an invite to him.
Furthermore, regardless of what happened between them in the past, Jett Adler attending an event hosted by his Sutton family was bound to be envied by other families.
Just like what was happening now.
But that was none of Jerry’s worries at the mont.
He was filled witb trepidation at the sight of this young man who was at least 20 years younger than him.
As if reading his mind, Jett raised a questioning brow, "What is it? Did you mail the invitation to by mistake?"
"I could leave now if you’re not comfortable with my presence. I was invited to another event just around the block."
"N-no, of course not!" Jerry quickly put away his fear and vigorously shook his head in disagreent.
Then he unintentionally went silent.
Taking the opportunity, Bryan Baker sauntered to stand beside Jerry, a flattering smile on his face as he introduced himself to Jett.
"Mr. Adler, I’m Bryan Baker, Kelsie Sutton’s forr fiancé. We used to be engaged in the past until sothing happened."
Jett shifted his dark eyes to him stoically.
"You’re talking to , why?"
Bryan paused briefly.
Why? Why did he sound so cold and dismissive when he was of help to him four months ago?
Then he recalled all the articles he read online about Jett and shook the thought out of his mind.
No, he wasn’t cold. He was just naturally like this.
With that, he continued speaking with a friendly smile.
"You may not rember , but I was in the restaurant with you and Serbian Howard four months ago."
"I ca to eat with my friends and found you both eating with Kelsie. I was the one who told you how promiscus she is."
"I don’t know what ga she’s playing with you right now or what she might’ve told you about her children, but don’t believe. I know this darn woman like the back of my hand."
Jerry chuckled inwardly, his eyes shooting towards Bryan in pity.
This poor thing.
He clearly didn’t know they were dating.
Good riddance.
He was long done with the Baker family, but didn’t know how to dissolve Laura’s engagent to him without offending the Baker family.
As soon as Bryan sses up, he won’t hesitate to send the engagent termination to the Baker family.
However, contrary to what he expected, a faint smile hovered the corners of Jett’s lips as nodded in realization, "So you were that brat from back then. I’ve been looking for you."
"Br-brat? Why would you be looking for a brat like ?" Although humiliating to say, Bryan bit the insides of his mouth and squeezed the words through his teeth.
Jett pressed his lips into a thin line, "I forgot the family you said you ca from as soon as you left."
Bryan’s eyes glistened and he released his hitched breath in relief.
Here he was thinking he was in so kind of trouble.
"Oh, it’s nothing really."
Jett exhaled slightly, staring into nothing, "The Baker family, was it?"
"Yes, sir!" Bryan hurriedly nodded.
"Eric!"
"I’m here." Eric was beside Jett in an instant.
Jett glanced at him briefly, "Commit that last na to mory. Our Adler family will have to rember them for a long ti."
Bryan’s eyes widened in disbelief and he gushed happily, "This is such an honor, Mr. Adler! An honor I know I don’t deserve, but I’m honestly grateful for. Thank you so much!"
mbers of the Sutton family and the guests were instantly green with envy, especially Jerry.
Had he known Jett was so quick to forgive, he wouldn’t have been so afraid.
So what if they had an issue in the past? As businessn, such feuds were bound to remain in the past.
If only he buttered up to Jett the way this brat buttered up to him, maybe he’d be able to get funding for Lun Group.
Those folks at the company were already looking down on him because of the lawsuit, but once they see the lawsuit made it possible to get close to Jett, his reputation would not just return to normal, he’d be better respected.
While they were all busy beating themselves up, Bryan, knowing what was going on, was still grinning from ear-to-ear.
"Mr. Adler, thank you so much for this opportunity! I assure you you won’t regret it!"
At this, Jett stared at him in surprise.
"Opportunity? What opportunity?"
"Pardon? I an, you just told your assistant to commit my Baker family to mory." Bryan excitedly reminded him.
Eric then turned to look at him, clarifying, "You’re getting this wrong, Mr. Baker. Committing you to mory ans blacklisting your Baker family anywhere the Adler family has influence."
