Kelsie didn’t know when she scoffed.

What? Jett Adler?

So this was why he didn’t linger around the hospital today. He finally decided to abuse his power.

Mistaking her reaction to her being stunned by the news, the nurse inched closer to her and giggled, "Dr. Sutton, I heard from so people at the hospital that you just returned to Silicone Valley after being abroad for seven years, so you probably do not know who Jett Adler is."

"So I’ll tell you who he is. He’s a tycoon. Many people say it’s because he was born with a silver spoon, but his family weren’t this powerful and wealthy until he began heading Adler Group."

"His na constantly appears whenever you search up rich n around the world and he does all that from this small city."

"Although there’s a rumor that he’s into n, but who cares? I know you’ll be feeling nervous after hearing who he is, but don’t you worry. As long as you do your job correctly, Mr. Adler won’t find any issue with you."

"Is that so?" Kelsie didn’t know when she sighed.

The nurse nodded.

Exhaling tiredly under her breath, Kelsie walked into the building with the nurse, expecting the worse.

3 minutes later, the elevator stopped and the duo walked out.

Eric was waiting at the door for them. When his eyes settled on Kelsie, a frown seeped into his face.

But before he could say anything, the nurse stepped forward to say who they were.

"Hello, good afternoon. You must be Mr. Adler’s assistant. We’re the replacent from Haven dical Center. I trust tbe hospital already told you we’d be coming?"

The man nodded, glanced at Kelsie a second ti before leading them in.

"I wasn’t given the patient’s dical record. He doesn’t happen to have a genetic illness I should be aware of, does he?" Kelsie asked as they walked to the master bedroom.

Eric paused, saying stoically, "None that should affect the current treatnt."

Kelsie nodded, going mute.

Seconds later, they stood in front of Jett’s door. Eric pushed it open for them, closing it once they were inside.

Kelsie’s eyes instantly fell on the shivering man underneath the duvet.

When he heard the door open, he lazily turned his face to the wall, quickly assuming it was Eric who ca in.

"You’re dismissed from work, Eric. Go ho. You’re making uncomfortable."

Unfortunately for him, Eric had expected this tantrum and stayed outside.

Whilst the nurse opened the kit with her, Kelsie inched closer to the bed, saying, "Mr. Lance isn’t here."

Not paying attention to the voice, the man hissed impatiently, "He didn’t call to tell you I’ll be ho today? There’s no need to clean the house. Just leave."

But the next mont, his eyes flew open.

That voice.

It sounded so much like her.

This darn fever was making him mistake people’s voices.

He squeezed his eyes shut and shooed her, "Is Eric still outside? Tell him to check on Ms. Sutton before she gets off work."

The nurse paused, her eyes darting to Kelsie in confusion.

Kelsie paused as well, but the next second, she walked to stand in front of him.

"My fever must be really bad. Now I’m hallucinating you in front of ."

He took out his hands from under the duvet, slowly reaching out to touch her face.

Maybe it was the sight she found him in, but she found herself lowering her body to his level.

He tugged her cheeks gently and a wide grin instantly spread across his face.

"I always had a feeling your cheeks would be soft. Very tender too. Not only that, but you’re awfully docile now. It’d be inappropriate to bite your cheeks, wouldn’t it?"

The nurse’s eyes widened again.

What... what the hell was going on?

While she questioned her existence, the man suddenly narrowed his eyes at her, the realization that this was a re hallucination dawning on him.

She wasn’t the one here, just his sickness projecting her to be in front of him.

So even if he bit her cheek a little, she wouldn’t know.

With that, he held her hand and drew her into his arm.

Kelsie, who hadn’t anticipated such a move, was taken by surprise and fell directly into his arms.

She promptly tried to get up, but the man held her down tighter.

"Mr. Adler, what are you doing?"

The man smiled, smacking his lips in amusent.

"She’s nice too. I like this Kelsie in my hallucination."

Kelsie narrowed her eyes upon hearing him. He thought he was hallucinating her?

In that case, it was no use telling him she was the real person.

She just beckoned onto the nurse who brought over a thermoter in confusion.

Since she couldn’t escape from Jett’s grip, she simply checked his temperature, heart beat and felt different part of his body to know if he was feeling sore.

After confirming it was just fever, she gave him so pills to take. Shortly after, his grip on her weakened as he fell asleep.

Staring at his relaxed face, a familiarity suddenly struck her. But it was gone the very next second.

Straightening up, she glanced at her ti on her wrist.

"If he doesn’t get better when he wakes up, we’ll have to take him to the hospital for proper tests."

"Inform the hospital of his condition now so they can be on standby if he suddenly worsens."

One, two, three seconds flew by and still no affirmative reply from the nurse who was stnading a few ters away from her.

She raised her eyes to look at the nurse who looked perplexed.

"Did you hear a word I said?"

"What? A word you said? You said sothing?" The nurse instantly snapped out of her reverie, the distraction in her eyes obvious.

Obviously knowing what was running through her mind, Kelsie didn’t want to give her room for assumption and was just about to reprimand her when the woman inched closer to her.

"Dr. Sutton, it’s not a coincidence that Mr. Adler is suddenly hallucinating you, is it? You two must know each other."

Kelsie blinked and glanced at the man again, quickly changing the subject, "You were so excited about eting him to see what he looks like."

"But this whole ti you’ve been standing there. Why don’t you co closer to take a better look at him."

The nurse funnily waved her aside, chuckling softly, "I’ve fallen for different scams, both willingly and unwillingly, Dr. Sutton, but this scam you’re trying to pull with , I won’t fall victim to."

"It’s futile trying to change the discussion. I know for a fact you have so type of relationship with Mr. Adler. I’m smart, you know? That’s how i was able to beco a nurse."

Realizing this woman wouldn’t stop until she got the truth out of her, Kelsie thought fast.

She was already so popular in her departnt and even those who had never worked with her knew her na.

If another rumor that she lived in the sa apartnt with the major shareholder of Haven dical Center spread, those that spread the first rumor would never let it go.

Even more attention would be on her and she wouldn’t be able to do what she entered the hospital for.

Kelsie thought fast and in ten seconds, she ca up with a feasible reason to change the topic.

She slid both hands into her pocket and began strutting towards the door saying, "While you brief the hospital of the current situation, I’ll brief his assistant outside about it."

By the ti she was done talking, she was already out the door, further solidifying the nurse’s suspicion.

"She’s hiding sothing. I know for a fact she’s hiding sothing. Why else would she suddenly change a very progressive discussion?"

Sighing, she got on the phone with the hospital to do as Kelsie instructed.

Outside the door, Kelsie did the sa with Eric. But as she was about to go back in, the man’s voice stopped her.

"No matter how much of an attention lover you are, don’t you think it’s not right that such a busy man has to pause his work to co to you everyday?"

She raised a confused brow, turning to face him properly agsin.

"What are you trying to say?"

Eric’s cold eyes narrowed at her slightly.

"You have sothing my boss wants. Why don’t you give it to him instead of making him co to you everyday for it?"

Kelsie was even more confused.

"I’m afraid you’ll have to go into details if you want to understand what you an by that."

Eric didn’t know when he scoffed, thinking she was acting clueless on purpose.

The nerves of this woman.

A lot of won had forced themselves to be around his boss, but this woman did hers in a shaless, but sophisticated manner.

Even he was impressed and couldn’t help applauding her when she finally got the attention she wanted.

Taking a step towards her, he said pointedly, "The first year from Haven dical Center who died in Darki. Didn’t he whisper sothing into your ears right before he died?"

Kelsie instantly recalled it.

Indeed, he had said sothing to her before he died, but she had a lot of things in mind that she quickly forgot it.

At the sa ti, she suddenly realized why Jett made it his job to be at the hospital everyday.

"My bad, I forgot all about it and Mr. Adler hadn’t asked about it the whole ti he was around ."

"Now that I’ve told you, why don’t you tell him what the first year told you as soon as he wakes up?" He said stoically and walked past her, almost brushing his shoulders with hers.

Kelsie turned her head to his retreating figure.

If she recalled correctly, this was her first ti interacting with him, so why was he so hostile towards her?

Could it be his boss was giving him a tough ti at work and he decided to lay his frustration on her?

But while she could understand him, what part of her made him think he could dump his frustration on her?

She scoffed lightly and placed her palm on the doorknob, preparing to push it open when a familiar voice suddenly ca up in the living room.

"Eric? What are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be at the office with my brother?"
