"What did he say just now?"
"Call the Adler family’s lawyers? Does that an he’s part of the Adler family?"
As the residents turned to each other in disbelief, Laura’s eyes were already up eyeing the man in disbelief.
The photo her friend sent to her earlier was a picture of Jett, Kelsie and Serbian Howard. But it only captured Kelsie and Serbian properly as Jett had his back to the cara.
However, he was yet to change out of the suit he wore when he had breakfast with them a few hours ago.
She swallowed hard, subconsciously clenching the phone tighter in her palm as she lowered her eyes to look at the n’s oufit again.
The hairstyle, color of suit. Even the wrist watch couldn’t be mistaken.
As she connected the dots in her mind, an oblivious Jerry eyed Jett in disdain.
"What is this? Do you think you can scare us by saying that? Don’t you know Jett Adler owns this apartnt building?."
"If you don’t want to get yourself into more trouble, don’t lie using his na. You’re Jett Adler, my foot! If you’re him, then everyone and anyone can be him!"
Jett’s eyes lit up in amusent.
Without turning to look at him, he humd at Eric, "What he said just now and the manner he said it, doesn’t it add up to a cri or two?"
Eric, who was on call with the lawyers already, nodded in agreent. "It does, Mr. Adler."
Seeing that they continued their deceitful act, Jerry was even more infuriated.
Despite being the chairman of Lun Group, they were people he could never et no matter how hard he tried.
Jett wasn’t the type to attend every sort of functions and when he did attend, no one ever knew.
As a result, not a lot of people knew what he looked like and the vague pictures on the internet didn’t do any justice to what he really looked like.
Furthermore, all the pictures were taken many years ago and were either photos of his back, his hair or good photos with poor quality caras or at weird angles.
Gritting his teeth, he was about to chide Jett again when he heard the crowd arguing amongst each other.
"It’s Jett Adler."
"No, it’s not. Mr. Adler would never appear in public needlessly. This must be a relative of his."
"The information of most of his relatives are all online. I’m sure somsone would’ve recognized him if he was one of them."
"This person here, are you trying to say he’s really an imposter?"
"Doesn’t Jett Adler live with his younger brother?"
"Daniel Adler isn’t this calm. I’ve walked in on him having the security thrash soone who ca to cause trouble here. He’s not patient enough to do things like this."
They were still talking when the entrance suddenly swung open and six n in impeccable suits strolled in with their briefcases.
With their cold faces, they didn’t say a word to anyone until they got to Jett and slightly lowered their heads to him in greeting.
"Mr. Adler, you asked for us."
The crowd went silent. Again.
But Jerry Sutton sucked in a deep breath, now a little confused.
Only soone with sothing to gain would hire people to act as his lawyers.
Either that, or this person was really saying the truth...
Ignoring the look on their faces, Jett humd in reply to the lawyers and slipped a hand out of his pocket to point at Jerry.
"He’s the one I want you to sue. He’s quite impatient to see in court. So make sure you serve him by the end of the day."
"M-Mr. Adler, is it really you?" Jerry’s voice trembled, finally realizing he had offended soone he shouldn’t have.
"There are nurous dirtbags who go around impersonating people. I’ve been a victim to one before, so I’ve been very careful not to fall for them again."
Jett face stretched into a small grin.
"I twisted your arm, didn’t I? Don’t you feel humiliated that I did that to stop you from slapping your elder daughter?"
The middle-aged shook his head vigorously.
"Humiliated? I wouldn’t dare to be humiliated because you stopped from acting out of line in public!"
Jett chuckled inwardly, but didn’t forget to ask in a neutral face, "If I weren’t Jett Adler, would you be saying this?"
Jerry’s shoulders stiffened as he held back his response now realizing Jett was trying to draw him out.
Behind him, Laura frowned slightly, coming to her father’s rescue.
"Mr. Adler, my father isn’t at fault. He never would’ve spoke that way to you and said he’d sue you if he knew who you were."
"If anyone is at fault here, it’s Kelsie who clearly knew who you were from the start and said nothing. It was as if she wanted you to be disrespected and my father humiliated."
The corners of Jett’s lips spasd as he glanced at her.
Realizing his eyes was pinned on her face, Laura unclenched her jaw as she added seriously, "She didn’t plan to help in the first place."
"So she made it possible that my family offends you. You shouldn’t fall for her sches!"
At this, Kelsie sneered, "Laura, don’t you think you’re doing too much now? I get that you’re obsessed with , but what makes you think I’d help you?"
Before Laura could think of a fitting response, Deborah retorted in her place with an angry snort.
"Don’t be heartless. You’re her family. Laura is your little sister. What kind of big sister doesn’t help their younger one when they need them to?"
Kelsie raised her eyes to et hers.
"If I was the one who ssed up, how many lawyers will you try to reach to help with my case?"
Jerry quickly rebuked her.
"Don’t use that scenario. You can never make such a mistake because you’re not a neurosurgeon to begin with."
"But didn’t we let what you did to your sister slide during the hackathon? Even though we knew you used underhanded thods to win and sha your sister, we never asked you to apologize to her. Not even once!"
Almost imdiately, a loop-sided grin crept into Kelsie’s face.
"You never asked for an apology? Is this another way of saying you wish to return the shares my late mother left for which you robbed of?"
