Gu Qixiao was also quite curious about Ji Yu’s story.

He had heard quite a bit about her here.

In the orphanage matron’s words, Ji Yu seed like a different person altogether.

"I didn’t expect her to have such a quiet side."

"Everyone has to grow up at so point, but this child is probably the most accomplished one to co out of our orphanage." The matron was clearly invested in Ji Yu’s life.

Not sure what Gu Qixiao liked, she only hoped that their relationship could last.

"I will take good care of Yu."

When talking about Ji Yu, a softness ca over Gu Qixiao’s heart.

The matron didn’t say much more and simply took him on a walk around the orphanage.

This ti, Gu Qixiao had co prepared. The next day, he even shared so orphanage stories with Ji Yu.

"It seems like the matron really cares for you."

Ji Yu was slightly surprised that the matron had shared so much with Gu Qixiao.

"Maybe it’s because I’m a rather sincere person."

When he said this, he gazed directly at Ji Yu, as if trying to make her understand sothing.

How could Ji Yu not know what he was trying to imply?

"Whether you’re sincere or not, I’ll find out in ti."

Originally, Ji Yu had planned to chat with him properly.

But an unexpected situation arose with one of her patients, and she had to go check it out first.

"Sister Yu, these people claim to be Sun Yongxin’s family. They’ve been insisting on seeing him, but Sun Yongxin made it clear that he doesn’t want to et them, saying they have no relationship."

Upon seeing Ji Yu, a flicker of awe appeared in the eyes of the n, but their attitudes weren’t exactly the friendliest.

"We’re here to see Sun Yongxin; it has nothing to do with you. Just let us et him."

Ji Yu raised her eyebrows, unfazed by their behavior. "If you want to see the patient, you need their consent first. I need to make sure my patient’s emotions remain stable. Given your attitude, I can’t allow you to enter."

These visitors didn’t seem well-intentioned. Who knew what other motives they might have?

Ji Yu wasn’t about to let her patient et just anyone casually.

"What’s that supposed to an? We’re his own siblings, and we need your permission to see him? Don’t make us shut this hospital down tomorrow."

They glared at Ji Yu arrogantly, clearly planning to create trouble if they couldn’t et Sun Yongxin.

"I’m sorry, but my patient said he doesn’t want to see you. If you want to have a eting, I suggest you communicate with him in advance."

Clear communication was important in situations like this.

Initially, Ji Yu had no other intentions. However, seeing their aggressive deanor only made her more resolute in denying them entry.

"Judging by your attitude, I seriously doubt whether you’re here for a visit or looking to start a fight. Patients need a peaceful environnt to recover."

She instructed soone to call security.

The group was visibly displeased with this turn of events.

"What do you an? We’re eting him today, no matter what. Who knows what shady activities your corrupt hospital might be involved in—maybe even murder or arson. If anything were to happen, we wouldn’t even find him afterwards!"

Ji Yu didn’t believe a word of their tirade.

In fact, if anyone seed more likely to commit such cris, it was them.

"Feel free to call the police. I will not allow you to enter the patient’s room."

Ji Yu was firm and unmoving; no matter what they said, she refused to concede.

As they looked about ready to use force, the security guards arrived just in ti.

Without sparing them a glance, Ji Yu instructed, "Escort them out imdiately. No matter what excuses they co up with, I absolutely won’t allow visitors like this."

Who knew what these people were really here for?

Only after ensuring they were removed did Ji Yu head to Sun Yongxin’s room.

As expected, Sun Yongxin didn’t seem to be in a good state.

"They ca, didn’t they?"

Even with gauze wrapped around his face, the fear on him was palpable.

Ji Yu could tell his distress was serious. "You don’t need to worry. I noticed their aggressive behavior and knew you wouldn’t want to see them, so I sent them away."

Patients needed peaceful environnts for their recovery. The attitude of those visitors suggested they might escalate things if allowed in, which was a risk that had to be avoided.

His eyes filled with gratitude. "Thank you, Doctor Ji. I don’t know them well, and please make sure they don’t co in to see ."

He had long been numb to their behavior and didn’t want any more entanglents.

Ji Yu frowned slightly, curious about what had brought things to this point with his family.

"I can promise that nothing will happen to you while you’re in this hospital. But you’ll need to stay calm and carefully think through what to do next."

Such individuals were unlikely to give up after just one attempt.

Ji Yu’s stance remained resolute—troublemakers were not welco.

"Thank you. That alone is more than enough."

At least for now, he could rest without being disturbed.

Only he knew how deeply desensitized he had beco to situations like this.

Ji Yu wasn’t sure about his family’s backstory, but since things had reached this point, she also instructed the downstairs security to keep an extra eye on them.

What she hadn’t expected was that they actually dared to call the police.

The officers arrived, leaving Ji Yu with no choice but to allow so form of encounter.

"Officer, my patient does not wish to et these individuals. You’re welco to check on Sun Yongxin, but please try to minimize their interaction."

These visitors clearly had ulterior motives, and it was best to avoid any unnecessary confrontations.

The police understood the situation. "You all stay here. We’ll go check on the patient first."

They weren’t concerned with the family drama—only with ensuring Sun Yongxin’s safety.

When Sun Yongxin saw the police, he froze.

"I don’t want to see them. Every word I’ve said is my own. The relationship between them and was severed long ago."

To him, they were nothing more than strangers now.

His words carried a simring anger.

Understanding that Sun Yongxin was safe and sound, the officers quickly left.

"Officer, they had previously contacted Sun Yongxin. Since they knew he was alive and still used this as grounds to call you, isn’t that a false police report?"

Such incidents deserved proper consequences.

The officers were exasperated. "We’ll certainly educate and penalize them, but your approach to this issue seems quite... inflexible. Can’t families just talk things through?"

Ji Yu didn’t respond.

Yet in her heart, she knew so bonds couldn’t simply be reasoned through.

To call certain people "family" was a title they might not even deserve.

"If there’s nothing else, we’ll take our leave."

Ji Yu watched them go, knowing this group likely wouldn’t get away unscathed, and then she returned to her office.

"Tian, keep a close eye on Sun Yongxin’s mood. Make absolutely sure nothing happens."
