"Do you all think I’m that easy to bully? I’m soone who prefers to resolve things with reason, but if you’re going to use such underhanded tricks, there’s no way I’d ever agree."

She had never been bullied before.

The expressions on the family’s faces beca conflicted upon hearing her statent, clearly anxious about what the injury assessnt might reveal.

"Relax. I’ll only hold you accountable for the damage you’ve caused. Actually, your condition is still treatable. It’s just a pity that the thod you chose was all wrong."

Ji Yu had already examined her face before. After identifying the issue, it was entirely possible to treat it, but they had chosen such a despicable approach—leaving no chance for recovery afterward.

Tang Tang’s expression looked utterly incredulous.

"Are you saying my face can still be treated?"

"Of course. I’ve said before that there’s no such thing as failure in my hands," Ji Yu replied confidently.

After all, there had been plenty of precedents. Surely, they weren’t still doubting her ability?

"Impossible! My sister’s face was completely ruined in the end. What you’re saying must be a lie."

At last, she admitted she wasn’t Tang Tang.

But even so, Ji Yu would never agree to treat her.

"Officer, there’s no need for an injury assessnt now, is there?"

The police officers, who were already stunned, listened as Ji Yu effortlessly coaxed out the truth. They were now curious about what kind of people they were dealing with.

"Hurry up and explain truthfully—why did you impersonate Tang Tang? And what’s the story with your face?"

Unfortunately, all Tang Xin wanted at that mont was to talk to Ji Yu.

She stared at Ji Yu as though seeing a savior, pleading, "Miss Ji, please help . I’ve lived with my face like this for so long. Everyone looks at with ridicule—I just can’t take it anymore."

Heaven knew how much she longed for her face to be restored.

But Ji Yu’s gaze at her was icy cold.

"You could have gone through proper channels and waited your turn. But instead, you’ve chosen this path, and this outco is what you deserve."

Pitiful people always have sothing hateful about them. Ji Yu would never pity such individuals.

She had no intention of getting further involved. The police would ensure she got an explanation.

The officers detained the entire family. Yet Tang Xin, for reasons unknown, refused to speak.

"If I can see Ji Yu, I’ll tell you everything."

Hope remained in her eyes.

The officers were visibly exasperated. "You’ve caused the hospital so much damage and nearly ruined its reputation. Why are you still fantasizing about saving your face?"

Clearly, people should have so sense of self-awareness in situations like this.

Yet she remained unwilling to accept reality.

Ji Yu never returned to the police station after that.

"How’s the situation now?" Gu Qixiao asked. He knew things were mostly resolved after learning the woman wasn’t Tang Xin.

"It’s over. They’ve long exposed their issues. I won’t pursue Tang Xin’s matter further, but I must find the insider betraying the hospital."

She massaged her temples, her stunning face showing traces of exhaustion.

Evidently, pregnancy had been taking a toll on Ji Yu, though she had managed to persevere all the sa.

This entire ordeal served as a reminder: she couldn’t afford to relax for even a mont.

"There’s no need for you to step in this ti. I know what I should do."

She wanted to unearth the person pulling strings behind this but couldn’t bring Gu Qixiao along.

"I can help you," Gu Qixiao said, distressed by her relentless hardship.

"You can depend on during tis like this," he added, his gaze searing, as though intent on burning a mark into her heart.

Ji Yu shook her head, refusing his offer of kindness.

"You and I have no familial or emotional ties. Why should I rely on you? And why should I trouble soone else with sothing I can handle on my own?"

She firmly believed that problems one could solve oneself should never involve others, no matter how close they were.

"Gu Qixiao, whether it’s because you’re montarily interested or for other reasons, I will never allow myself to feel anything for you."

She had no desire to repeat what had happened in the past.

Gu Qixiao’s gaze grew wounded. Clearly, he did not want Ji Yu thinking this way.

"It’s not a passing fancy."

Perhaps it began in that orphanage, when he saw how gentle Ji Yu was with the children. From then on, she beca unforgettable to him.

Perhaps it had started even earlier, though Ji Yu seed entirely unaware.

"I hope you can stay by my side. I can be your support. Why overthink sothing where both parties get what they need?"

Gu Qixiao longed to help Ji Yu, but it seed she was intent on pushing him away.

She offered no response, but her furrowed brow and expressionless deanor conveyed her impatience with the situation.

On the way, neither of them spoke another word.

When they reached the hospital entrance, there was indeed a large crowd gathered.

The mont Ji Yu appeared, the crowd erupted with excitent.

"Miss Ji, what’s your relationship with Lu Xingchen?"

"Miss Ji, do you have any comnt on accusations that your hospital disfigures its patients?"

"And President Gu—what’s your relationship with her? Rumors are circulating that your hospital only operates because of influential patrons. Is that true?"

Clearly, everyone was deeply curious about Ji Yu’s private affairs.

But Ji Yu had no intention of responding.

"I have nothing to say about your questions. The police will release a statent soon, and you’ll know everything then."

She didn’t want to create trouble for anyone.

As for Lu Xingchen’s situation, Ji Yu was unsure how to handle it, especially since his PR team hadn’t contacted her yet.

Anything she said casually could potentially affect Lu Xingchen.

"Miss Ji, are you evading responsibility?"

"Yes, Miss Ji. Are you refusing to address the online allegations because you’re guilty or because they’re true?"

A flood of microphones was practically shoved into Ji Yu’s face.

Unable to watch further, Gu Qixiao stepped forward to block them all.

"Please show so respect when you speak. This matter has nothing to do with you, and the police will make an announcent soon. Why are you in such a rush?"

His expression was ice-cold.

With his naturally stern deanor and the Gu family’s elite status backing him, none dared confront him recklessly.

"And as for the baseless claims you’re making, you’ll need to bear legal responsibility for your words."

Gu Qixiao shielded Ji Yu completely, unwilling to spare even a glance at their ugly, twisted faces.

The way they hounded Ji Yu, desperate to leech off her, was utterly repulsive.

He didn’t want her to endure such grievances any longer.
