When it ca to Jiang Huai, Ji Yu’s expression carried a trace of disdain.
"I don’t need to report my dealings with Jiang Huai to you. Now you’re telling you can’t produce the antidote, and we’re not going to waste any more ti. What’s the point of you saying these things?"
It was almost as if she were accusing him of having problems.
Fan Mingxing, who was accustod to people treating him with utmost respect, had never experienced this kind of situation. Perhaps the novelty intrigued him, for his gaze carried a shred of curiosity as he stared at Ji Yu.
He had no idea what Ji Yu’s situation truly was, but it was clear that sothing felt off in the current state of affairs.
Ji Yu herself didn’t know how to fully resolve this matter, but she understood that she had to make an attempt. She couldn’t passively wait without doing anything—nobody could foresee what the final result would be.
"Miss Ji, aren’t you being a bit too hasty? You think researching an antidote is that simple? This is Jiang Huai’s work; the person who understands it best is him. I suggest you go and ask him instead."
After saying that, even he found his words dull and uninspired.
Gu Qixiao wanted nothing more than to punch him.
What he said was enough to drive Gu Qixiao to the brink of fury.
"Yu, no matter what happens, you cannot make foolish decisions regarding this matter. I’ve said before that I will handle this myself. Even if I have to eliminate Jiang Huai, I absolutely won’t make mistakes at this stage."
He loved Ji Yu, and he couldn’t bear to see her make any foolish decisions over this.
Ji Yu wasn’t sure what to say anymore—perhaps it was because the situation in front of her was just too frustrating.
"Co back with . I think your current state is worsening. I promise you I won’t act recklessly. Will you co back with ?"
She had already expended quite a lot of patience.
Not knowing Gu Qixiao’s exact status, this was the only approach Ji Yu could take, soothing him as though he were a child.
"I didn’t expect Miss Ji to have monts of such patience. Just now, your attitude toward wasn’t nearly as gentle. If soone didn’t know better, they’d think I was the one who drugged Gu Qixiao."
His tone carried a clear layer of sarcasm.
Ji Yu didn’t know what else to say, but she knew one thing—he was undeniably annoying.
"You and Jiang Huai really do deserve to be colleagues. Just looking at you, I can tell you’re equally irkso."
Fan Mingxing felt as though he had sohow beco collateral damage. How could she say sothing like this?
"Ji Yu, I can understand you calling Jiang Huai annoying, but why drag into it? Do you realize your words are affecting my mood?" He sotis needed a bit of comfort, too.
Given how bad his mood had been recently, encountering a situation like this only made him feel like they must all be insane.
Ji Yu’s deanor was icy cold. "Then tell , how am I supposed to treat you? Everyone in your organization is horrid in my eyes. Don’t think for a second that I’d ever bow my head to you."
She had considered bowing her head before.
But wasn’t Jiang Huai’s previous behavior proof enough?
Bowing her head wouldn’t lead to anything worthwhile from their ilk anyway.
At least being cold and indifferent was less infuriating.
Ji Yu’s expression was so impassive it was unsettling.
Fan Mingxing said nothing further, mainly out of fear of offending her. Otherwise, Jiang Huai might stir trouble later.
"You two should leave. I’ll keep working on this matter. If you don’t trust , there’s nothing I can do."
He had already done so much—continuing like this would only make things worse.
"Inform of any updates imdiately. I refuse to be controlled by Jiang Huai’s toxic drugs." Gu Qixiao’s tone was cold as steel.
He seed to unravel only when the matter involved Ji Yu.
"Yu, let’s head back."
Ji Yu was true to her word. She had spent the entire day by Gu Qixiao’s side. Whatever Gu Qixiao did, he made sure Ji Yu knew. Their dynamic resembled the way things were at the beginning.
Mr. Gu, upon witnessing their interaction, hoped they would continue like this indefinitely.
Before Ji Yu departed, he didn’t forget to ask her, "Yu, are you still planning to proceed with your plans? Honestly, even this arrangent isn’t half bad."
Ji Yu’s expression turned bitter. She had questioned before whether her fixation on this matter was excessive. But looking at the situation now, she finally understood it was no longer sothing she could control.
"Gu Qixiao’s condition has rely stabilized temporarily. If I truly want to save him, I’ll have to make so sacrifices."
For now, this was only the beginning.
Yet there was one thing Ji Yu found increasingly puzzling—Jiang Huai had been completely silent during this period.
She didn’t particularly care about Jiang Huai; her concern stemd from the possibility that she might still end up influenced by him later.
This venture was undeniably risky.
As she made her way ho, her mind was restless and unsettled.
"Yu, you’re back." Wu Zeyu smiled warmly when he saw her.
Yet Ji Yu had no ti to deal with him. Everything about him felt like a drain on her ti and energy.
"Why are you in my house?" She hadn’t felt this exhausted in a long while, perhaps due to the aftereffects of her illness.
"I was worried sothing might happen to you. You said you were accompanying Mr. Gu to the hospital—I know Mr. Gu wouldn’t possibly hurt you, but I still wanted to wait for you to return and make sure you were safe."
His deanor was undeniably gentle.
He really did seem like a gentleman.
But for so reason, his tenderness struck Ji Yu as deeply hypocritical.
They barely knew each other, so why did she feel that way?
"You don’t have to act like this around ."
Ji Yu looked at him helplessly, truly unsure of what to say.
"When I’m with you, this is my truest self. If you find it uncomfortable, please let know, and I’ll change."
His words sounded earnest and full of conviction, but Ji Yu simply felt drained.
She couldn’t outright tell him she found him pretentious or that his words seed off. If she did, who knew what kind of conflict might erupt?
"That’s not what I ant. Just be yourself."
