"Although she’s not a child, this incident has hit her very hard. I can only stay by her side and try my best to keep her from being so heartbroken."
There wasn’t much else he could do—only offer this ager care to ease her pain.

Ji Yuanzhou usually ca across as mild-tempered, but when soone dared to harm his family, there was no way he’d sit back and do nothing.
The two of them drank until dawn.
Ji Yu actually woke up in the middle of the night.
She stared around in confusion.
She wished so desperately that everything from last night had been nothing more than a bad dream.
But when she saw the two drunken figures downstairs, she knew that this wasn’t a dream.
"Why did you two drink so much?" She stepped forward, trying to help them up, but Gu Qixiao, worried about the baby in her belly, imdiately called for a servant.
"You’re still pregnant, so don’t make any sudden movents. You need to rest properly."
Even in his drunken state, he hadn’t forgotten the need to protect her.
Ji Yu’s eyes reddened slightly. She was incredibly vulnerable at this mont, and hearing these words stirred sothing deep within her.
Once the two n were helped back to their rooms, she followed Gu Qixiao into his room.
Gu Qixiao still had so semblance of awareness. Seeing her follow him, he appeared a bit surprised.
"Yu, you should rest well too. I’m fine, and by tomorrow morning I’ll probably be clear-headed again." He smiled, trying to comfort her.
But Ji Yu shook her head. "I just had a nightmare. I dreamt that everyone around left . I don’t know why I would dream sothing like that... I just don’t want to be alone right now."
Perhaps this incident had simply impacted her too deeply, leading to such thoughts.
"No one around you would abandon you. At the very least, I would never leave your side. Neither would your brother—he doesn’t bla you for this. They’re just upset and decided to have a few drinks to cope."
He gently wiped away the tears from the corners of Ji Yu’s eyes.
"Don’t be sad anymore. To see you sad... hurts far more than you could ever imagine. Your tears are the most powerful weapon against ." He couldn’t bear to watch the woman he loved continue crying.
"If you feel uneasy, I can help you handle this matter. Do you trust ?"
He held her in his arms and softly comforted her.
Ji Yu wasn’t entirely sure what she felt inside—she just knew that the pain was unbearable, as if crying might sohow relieve the discomfort within.
Gu Qixiao seed to understand this as well, so he didn’t attempt to persuade her to stop crying.
"If you feel this hurt, then cry it all out with here. Perhaps that might make things a little better."
Ji Yu didn’t know what else to say—she only knew that the emotions inside her made her want to cry. In Gu Qixiao’s arms, she could let it out freely.
As her sobbing gradually quieted and her exhaustion beca apparent, Gu Qixiao covered her with a blanket while holding her close. He whispered gently, "If you’re tired from crying, get so rest. I’ll stay here with you; I won’t leave you—never."
Everything the two of them had gone through together was real.
Leaning into his embrace, Ji Yu finally felt so semblance of comfort.
No one truly rested well that night. They both keenly felt each other’s pain.
By morning, everyone pretended as if nothing had happened, wearing expressions that suggested they were coping.
"Brother, what’s your plan to investigate this matter?" She knew she couldn’t walk away from it.
"I plan to begin with Li Yu. After all, he had threatened you and made those remarks before—there’s a good chance he’s behind this."
Ji Yu also wanted to start with Li Yu.
"Then let the two of us go together. I’ve got nothing else on my plate right now." She knew she wouldn’t be able to focus on anything else until this was resolved.
"Yu, you need proper rest. And you’re still pregnant. Don’t you realize your current condition ans you shouldn’t be making sudden movents?" Ji Yuanzhou sighed, knowing how stubborn his sister could be.
"Even if you don’t think of yourself, you should consider Gu Qixiao. This child belongs to the two of you. If anything were to happen to you, it would deeply hurt him."
The two of them had fought so hard to be together—how could they let such an incident lead to sothing disastrous?
Ji Yu hesitated, knowing full well how important this child was.
Over ti, it had already beco part of her vision for the future.
If sothing truly went wrong, no one would feel the pain of a mother quite like she would.
Gu Qixiao could see what was on her mind. He knew how much she cherished the child and how much she cared about him. That was already enough.
"I’ll go with her, and I won’t let Yu be in any situation where she could be hurt."
Ji Yu shook her head. "This matter has nothing to do with you. It’s our family’s business. And if you get involved, it might stir up unnecessary trouble."
Resolving this would undoubtedly take careful asures.
"I don’t want this to affect your work. I know you’ve been incredibly busy lately."
They should be supportive of one another.
There was no need to drag each other down because of this issue.
