Gu Qixiao stared intently at the photo on his phone, completely tuning out the rest of the conversation.

"It’s nothing."

Assistant Li had long since realized that the only person capable of making Gu Qixiao react this way was Ji Yu.

But recently, Ji Yu didn’t seem interested in eting Gu Qixiao at all, so why was he suddenly angry now?

As more and more photos kept coming through, Gu Qixiao’s expression grew darker and darker. The team leader reporting on the current project felt as though every sentence he spoke sohow beca problematic.

Otherwise, why would Gu Qixiao’s face look this displeased with every single statent?

"President Gu, maybe we should make further improvents. How about we pause the eting for now?"

He truly didn’t have the courage to keep going.

"Hmm." Gu Qixiao didn’t bother acknowledging their expressions and directly walked out of the conference room with his jacket.

"Assistant Li, what’s going on? You’ve been by President Gu’s side for so long—can’t you give us a hint?" They could no longer withstand Gu Qixiao’s oppressive mood.

Assistant Li suddenly felt like a wise old eunuch from a historical drama. "This situation... you’ll need to analyze it yourselves. Look at President Gu’s recent behavior and how often he’s been stepping out lately. Don’t you understand yet?"

When Ji Yu was around Gu Qixiao, he never worked overti.

Now, because they haven’t been able to see each other, he’s been throwing himself into work day and night, as if work is the only thing that can fill the empty void within him.

"You don’t need to be too nervous. President Gu isn’t targeting you specifically; he’s just against everyone right now."

The subordinates struggled to hold it together, feeling that the entire situation was inexplicably bizarre.

anwhile, Gu Qixiao had no idea what they were thinking and had already headed to the restaurant to find Ji Yu.

As soon as he walked in, he saw Ji Yu and Lu Xingchen sitting nearby, engrossed in conversation and laughing together.

Jealousy surged inside him like an overturned vat of vinegar.

Without hesitation, he walked straight over to Ji Yu and sat down beside her, completely ignoring Lu Xingchen’s startled expression.

"President Gu, what’s the aning of this?" Lu Xingchen couldn’t help but feel Gu Qixiao was being rather rude. His actions were undeniably unsightly.

"I ca to see what Yu is up to."

Clearly, the photos he’d seen earlier had rattled him, though Ji Yu knew his temperant all too well. She had long grown accustod to his antics and responded with calm indifference.

"If you have sothing to say, just say it."

She had no intention of spending ti with Gu Qixiao.

Gu Qixiao felt as though he’d been stabbed in the heart, and seeing Ji Yu’s dismissive attitude only made him feel even more bitter.

"It’s been so long since we’ve last seen each other. Is it wrong for to want to visit you?"

Ji Yu rolled her eyes. "Do you even hear yourself? ’So long’? The last ti you ca to my house was three days ago."

He was acting as though they’d been separated for months.

Gu Qixiao paused, stumped for a mont. "Yu, haven’t you heard of the phrase ’every day feels like a year’?"

He felt that every second away from Ji Yu dragged painfully, and according to Assistant Li, their President Gu could sotis be a real lovestruck fool.

"You have ti to have dinner with Lu Xingchen but no ti to talk to ?"

Lu Xingchen had already been quite annoyed at Gu Qixiao’s sudden appearance, and this latest comnt only made him more displeased.

"Why wouldn’t I be able to et with Yu? Our relationship is completely normal." They didn’t owe Gu Qixiao any explanations about their interactions.

Clearly, Lu Xingchen was growing more impatient with Gu Qixiao. n’s intuition often kicked in, and from the mont he saw Gu Qixiao, he’d felt uneasy, as though this man didn’t belong here.

Gu Qixiao sneered, "Oh, really? Lu Xingchen, don’t you realize your status could bring trouble to Yu?"

Lu Xingchen was always surrounded by rumors and scandals, and that alone was enough to cause issues—there was no need to elaborate further.

Ji Yu frowned. "I haven’t said or done anything problematic with Xingchen. Even if those people online want to spread baseless gossip, don’t you know better? Why use that tone to bring this up?"

She valued her friends and wouldn’t distance herself from soone just because of so petty rumors.

Gu Qixiao felt wronged. "But they say you two are a couple. What about ?"

He wanted to be with Ji Yu, didn’t he?

He’d held Ji Yu’s hand countless tis, yet there had been no photos back then. Now, of all tis, rumors were suddenly everywhere—he had strong opinions about this.

"You and I don’t have that kind of relationship either."

Ji Yu didn’t even bother arguing further with him.

Recently, she’d been learning many new things and found it unnecessary to consider these pointless matters.

"Your behavior is problematic. I suggest you stop acting like this."

Senseless displays like these would only make people feel irritated.

Still, Gu Qixiao remained persistent, even as Ji Yu clearly showed her disdain without taking any significant action against him.

Lu Xingchen watched the situation unfold, fully understanding everything without needing further explanation.

"Yu, when did your relationship with President Gu get this friendly?"

He’d only been away for a brief ti, and yet it felt as though everything had changed.

Lu Xingchen looked at Ji Yu with a hint of hope, as though wishing she would refute him directly.

Ji Yu sighed. "There’s no ’friendly’ relationship between us, Xingchen. You must be mistaken."

As she spoke, she shot Gu Qixiao a glare.

Lu Xingchen ought to have been pleased by Ji Yu’s denial, yet for so reason, the outco only left him feeling worse, like a lump in his throat that wouldn’t go away.

He’d have felt better if she hadn’t denied it at all.

Ji Yu noticed Lu Xingchen’s strange expression and grew concerned. "Xingchen, are you okay? You don’t look well. Maybe you should go ho and rest?"

Lu Xingchen forced a weak smile, reluctant to leave Ji Yu alone with Gu Qixiao. "It’s nothing. I’ve just sustained a minor injury recently, and that’s probably why I’m feeling a little off."

"If you already know it’s just a minor injury, then don’t try to gain sympathy. Soone who doesn’t know might even think you’re seriously hurt."

Gu Qixiao had no intention of letting Lu Xingchen off the hook so easily.

After all, if he didn’t suppress his rival now, his rival would only overshadow him later. He needed to act decisively and eliminate any further issues.

Ji Yu glanced at the absurd situation unfolding before her, resisting the urge to roll her eyes. Gu Qixiao’s behavior resembled that of a possessive little dog, attacking indiscriminately.

"Gu Qixiao, what exactly are you trying to accomplish here? Xingchen is already injured, yet you’re still spouting these sarcastic remarks."

She felt these remarks deserved to be directed at certain unreasonable individuals.

Of course, Gu Qixiao knew Ji Yu was upset, so he wasn’t about to push things further with Lu Xingchen. "I was just joking, that’s all."
