Ji Yu didn’t want to dwell on the matter, but Gu Qixiao wasn’t about to let it go so easily.
"Are you serious about what you said?"
He looked at Zhang Boyu with so impatience in his eyes, "Already had a girlfriend and still discussing marriage arrangents with earlier?"
From the start, he felt that Zhang Boyu looked familiar, and now he finally rembered who he was.
The last ti they searched for a fiancé for Song Xuan, it seed he was involved too.
Zhang Boyu’s expression beca a little awkward. "It was all family pressure. I didn’t have a choice."
"You’re real good at wrapping ’irresponsibility’ in pretty words. You and this lady make a perfect match," Ji Yu bluntly exposed his excuse.
Initially, she just wanted to find out what happened, but with this sudden twist, nobody would take it lying down.
"Let’s go. Whatever happens between them isn’t any of our business."
She didn’t want to waste her ti here.
Seeing that Ji Yu was okay, Gu Qixiao finally pulled Ji Yu away and left.
But just as they stepped outside, Ji Yu shook off his wrist. "President Gu, watch your image. If soone sees us like this, wouldn’t they start talking about the two of us being involved?"
Things like this shouldn’t go on.
Gu Qixiao wasn’t angry, instead he nonchalantly grabbed Ji Yu’s other wrist. "This way, no one can say anything."
"How is this any different?"
"It’s completely different," Gu Qixiao’s eyes carried a quiet amusent, as if he had thought of sothing delightful.
"This way, everyone will see that it was initiating. Even if rumors spread online, no one would dare criticize you."
From beginning to end, he never intended for Ji Yu to be hurt by this.
Ji Yu raised an eyebrow but chose not to argue further, letting Gu Qixiao lead her to the car.
"Aren’t you curious enough to go find Feng Qinqin and ask what’s really going on?"
He had overheard parts of what happened earlier. A canceled engagent ceremony out of nowhere was certainly intriguing.
Ji Yu massaged her temples, feeling a headache coming on. "Honestly, I’m more worried about what her family will say."
She wasn’t concerned about Feng Qinqin’s married life. At least in Ji Yu’s eyes, these decisions were Feng Qinqin’s own, but the Feng family’s reaction was the real issue.
"Please take to the Feng family’s place. If things get heated, at least I can help smooth things over."
She couldn’t bear to let Feng Qinqin deal with this alone.
Gu Qixiao followed her request and drove Ji Yu to the Feng family’s house.
Upon seeing Ji Yu, Feng Qinqin’s expression beca complicated, even tinged with embarrassnt.
"Qinqin, I heard you canceled your engagent?"
"Mm." Feng Qinqin hesitated. Truthfully, she didn’t know how to explain and could only cautiously glance at Ji Yu.
Gu Qixiao found her gaze curious. "Why are you looking at Yu after canceling your engagent?"
At this point, Gu Qixiao was already imagining various dramatic scenarios in his head, like Feng Qinqin realizing at the last mont that the person she truly loved was Ji Yu.
"I’m talking to Yuyu. Should I be looking at you instead?"
Feng Qinqin rolled her eyes, but at least she seed less tense than before.
"Yuyu, do you think my situation right now is really that bad? Is getting married truly such a great achievent?"
She didn’t see anything good about it.
"For everyone, marriage ans sothing different. Uncle Feng’s illness—I can understand his feelings, but more than anything, I want you to be well."
As Feng Qinqin’s close friend, Ji Yu hoped none of this would trouble her too much.
Feng Qinqin sighed. "Speaking of which, I haven’t even explained it to you. My dad actually isn’t sick at all. When he heard about the canceled engagent this morning, he literally jumped out of bed."
She should have suspected it sooner.
"For soone like him to fake being sick, it just shows how desperate he is to marry off."
She couldn’t help but vent.
Ji Yu was dumbfounded. "So what’s the situation now?"
How did this suddenly beco so complicated?
"It’s still all my dad stirring things up. Anyway, I don’t want to get engaged for now, and I already have soone I like. I’m not going to consider any marriage arrangents for the ti being."
Ji Yu was surprised. "You already have soone you like?"
She hadn’t noticed a thing.
"Yeah, but I don’t even know what they think about . I’m waiting for an answer. This whole ordeal at least gave so breathing room."
She had finally sorted out her feelings and was determined not to blindly rush to get engaged.
Though Ji Yu was astonished at first, she supported Feng Qinqin’s decision. "If it’s love, then be brave—it’s no big deal."
Nearby, Gu Qixiao started to feel uncomfortable, his suspicions rising about Feng Qinqin’s peculiar gaze toward Ji Yu. He even began wondering if Feng Qinqin harbored feelings for Ji Yu.
"Even if you have soone you like, you should mind the gender. Judging from your family’s stance, it’s unlikely they’d ever approve of you being with a woman."
He tried giving her a heads-up.
Feng Qinqin rolled her eyes in exasperation. "Yuyu, you better stop hanging around idiots. What if you start catching their stupidity?"
It was clear she had thoroughly labeled Gu Qixiao as a fool; nothing else could explain the absurdity he just spouted.
Ji Yu was amused by her and laughed outright. "Your gaze toward today does feel a little off. Does the person you like have sothing to do with ?"
This sort of situation intrigued Ji Yu quite a bit.
Feng Qinqin lowered her head, ultimately choosing not to reveal who she liked. "Yuyu, let think it over, then I’ll tell you. I really don’t know how to talk about it yet."
She had wanted to tell Ji Yu before but decided it wasn’t the right mont.
Since Feng Qinqin refused to say more, Ji Yu didn’t push her. "Then give it your best shot and see what happens. Uncle Feng will likely take your feelings into consideration as well."
Feng Qinqin sighed. "Hopefully that’ll be the case. Yuyu, don’t worry about my love life, but you should definitely cut ties with Gu Qixiao. Spending too much ti with soone like him will rot your brain."
She whispered quietly into Ji Yu’s ear.
Gu Qixiao’s veins were practically bulging as he forced a polite smile. "Do you think you’re whispering quietly?"
Leaning into Ji Yu while speaking at that volu was laughably pointless.
Ji Yu was amused by their antics and knew they were only joking, so she didn’t take their words to heart.
"If there’s anything you need, co find . Don’t waste energy arguing with your family. Uncle Feng may want you to marry soon, but he definitely won’t force you to be with soone you don’t like."
She only wished the best for her dear friend to find happiness.
