Qin Yiheng had not returned to the Qin Mansion; the event surrounding Qin Xueyao had caused quite a stir throughout Licheng City. Despite his announcent of severing ties, the Qin Family was still heavily criticized.
This made him, as the head of the family, feel utterly disgraced in Licheng City’s high society.
The more he thought about it, the more furious he beca. He ordered people to throw the already insane Qin Xueyao and her child into an asylum and commanded that all his global connections be used to hunt down Thompson.
Qin Yiheng indeed had so dark connections. Before taking over Twilight, he conducted many underground businesses and befriended transnational dark forces. After taking over Twilight, he was in his elent and acted even more recklessly.
He could mobilize his connections to globally hunt down a black director.
After arranging everything and finally taking a breath, a call ca from ho.
It was Qin Yishu calling, sobbing and trembling, "Big brother... Mother, she, she..."
Qin Yiheng frowned in disgust, "Qin Yishu, if you have sothing to say, say it quickly. Don’t just cry here, or believe , you’ll end up sleeping in the basent tonight?"
Qin Yishu had always feared Qin Yiheng. His threat only made her more uneasy, but she eventually steadied her heart and said what needed to be said, "Mother was eaten by a crocodile."
...
Qin Yiheng hurried ho, only to see the servants feignedly wiping their eyes with handkerchiefs, Qin Yishu knelt on the ground, crying intermittently.
On the ground lay a stretcher bed, covered with a white cloth.
Underneath the cloth, naturally, was Ye Zhilin’s incomplete corpse.
Qin Yiheng strode forward and tore away the white cloth, the sight of broken limbs struck him dumb for a mont, his mind went blank, and he took a few steps back.
"Ah!" Qin Yishu scread, covering her eyes.
The servants were also trembling with fear.
Qin Yiheng steadied his breathing and gestured to cover the white cloth again.
After the servants covered the white cloth, he sternly questioned them, "Weren’t you supposed to watch over Madam? How did she end up at Crocodile Bay and fall off the cliff?"
The servant who accompanied Ye Zhilin to Crocodile Bay knelt on the ground, trembling uncontrollably, "Young Master, what happened was, yesterday morning, Miss Gu ca to visit Madam. They talked for a while about sothing, and Madam suddenly beca emotionally unstable, insisting that Gu Qiyun’s ghost had co to claim her life, so she threatened to go to Crocodile Bay to burn paper for Gu Qiyun, then later..."
Recalling what happened later, the servant was even more terrified, as if about to float away with the wind, "Later, Gu Qiyun’s ghost really appeared. I was so frightened I fainted. When I woke up, Madam was gone. I quickly notified the driver waiting at the foot of the mountain to search together and found Madam already in the river, torn apart by crocodiles."
The servant did not detect any trace of Gu Jiayin at all.
Back then, Gu Jiayin stood in the water, and Ye Zhilin eventually sank into the water, the blood she shed long washed away by the flow.
Tales of such uncanny ghosts made the servants more frightened, none dared to speak, and even their breathing was cautiously maintained.
Even Qin Yishu was at a loss, "Big brother, how about we conduct a ritual to sanctify Gu Qiyun’s soul? Otherwise, sooner or later, she’ll co after you and ."
Qin Yiheng didn’t believe in ghosts or gods. Looking at Qin Yishu in such a state, he only felt more disdain, "Get out!"
He looked at the white cloth again and coldly ordered, "Handle the funeral properly, claim to the outside world that Madam accidentally fell into the water and was attacked by crocodiles. Anyone who dares to say otherwise, don’t bla for being ruthless."
"Yes." The servants were so frightened, they kept their heads down, not daring to even glance at him.
...
The news of Ye Zhilin’s death at Crocodile Bay quickly reached Qin Zhennan and Gu Shaohua.
Gu Shaohua released a heavy sigh of relief, she had been planning to get rid of Ye Zhilin at so point, yet she had walked into the underworld’s door herself, saving her a step.
But Qin Zhennan, knowing Ye Zhilin’s situation well, was uneasy that she suddenly went to Crocodile Bay and eventually died there; he felt sothing was amiss.
So he arranged to et Gu Shaohua again.
Gu Shaohua was impatient, "You asked to deal with Ye Zhilin, now she’s dead on her own, isn’t this great? What are you still worried about?"
Qin Zhennan frowned, "I find your intelligence dropping lately. I heard from the house servants that Ye Zhilin insisted on going to Crocodile Bay because of talking with Gu Jiayin. Knowing how much Ye Zhilin values her life, she wouldn’t jump off herself."
Gu Shaohua also frowned, "What do you an?"
Qin Zhennan pondered for a mont, then said firmly, "Gu Jiayin must be involved. I know Ye Zhilin well enough; she’d certainly drag us down with her before dying, so..."
"So, she might have betrayed us before dying?"
"Exactly."
Gu Shaohua suddenly beca nervous, "Then if Gu Jiayin tells Sheng Qianchi the truth, we..."
"Eliminate Gu Jiayin imdiately!" Qin Zhennan said coldly, "She’s smart enough not to tell Sheng Qianchi for now. After all, both Gu Yachen and Gu Qiyun are dead, dead n tell no tales. But if she finds the opportunity later, who knows."
...
The Qin Family, being a notable clan in Licheng City, held an extravagant funeral for Ye Zhilin.
Gu Jiayin ca to offer her condolences as well.
Upon entering the Qin Mansion, a servant approached her, "Miss Gu, the Young Master asked if you ca, you should wait for him in the small parlor."
Gu Jiayin knew that cunning Qin Yiheng must have suspected sothing, but she didn’t care, smiling gracefully, "Alright, but I’ll pay my respects to Mrs. Qin first."
The servant didn’t dare object and hurried to guide her to the mourning hall.
The Qin Family’s funeral brought many people to pay their respects.
Qin Yiheng, always seeming gentle and refined, stood at the forefront receiving condolences politely, while Qin Yishu quietly stood behind him, barely daring to breathe.
Watching from afar, Gu Jiayin couldn’t help but sneer, thinking Qin Yishu must have been tornted by Qin Yiheng to live worse than death, from an arrogant and proud princess to soone lowly and downtrodden.
Gu Jiayin chose a mont when there weren’t many people to approach, a subtle smile on her face. She ca, naturally, to see how her enemies wept.
Upon seeing Gu Jiayin, the previously submissive Qin Yishu imdiately widened her eyes, coldness flashing through them, "What are you doing here?"
Gu Jiayin calmly glanced at the casket in the mourning hall, the corners of her mouth curling into charming dimples as she smiled, "Naturally, I’ve co to pay my respects."
She softly pressed her lips together, her voice laced with insinuation, "I heard Mrs. Qin died tragically, her body mangled. What kind of sins did she commit in life to suffer such a fate in death?"
