In an underground facility of the White Sea guild…
As Hans reluctantly followed behind Freya, he was unsure whether it was the right call to follow her.
’She won’t have a trap set up to kill right?…
Right?’
Hans analyzed everything around him because even though he viewed their grudge as sothing trivial, he was unsure of how it was for Freya.
After about a hundred steps, he reached a wide tallic door that was pushed open by the guild leader in front of him.
Following her example, Hans entered the room.
He was surprised by the spacious place that lay beyond those doors.
It was an incredible training ground, but Hans didn’t find himself inside it, instead, he was in a glass tunnel that crossed those training grounds in mid-air.
Even though she wasn’t in the mood to have a casual conversation with Hans, she still burdened herself to explain what surrounded them:
"This is our training ground for the higher-ups, it’s always crowded and it’s difficult to get a free spot"
Hans watched around and saw no one…
In that grand and huge place, in which there were four fighting platforms, two boxing rings, and countless pieces of equipnt to train that Hans had never seen before, not a single person was training or resting, it looked desolate.
This forced Freya to specify:
"At least… that’s how it usually is, I have no idea what they are up to at the mont"
….
In the anti, inside the monitoring room…
The main guardian was in charge of controlling and instructing all the ’guardians’ whose job was to monitor everything that happened inside and outside the White Sea headquarters.
He had t with other team leaders a few tis, and even if he wasn’t awakened, he had even managed to talk with the guild leader and vice guild leader a couple of tis.
He considered himself to be quite the important person, maybe the most important amongst the non-awakened of the entire guild.
But for the first ti in his life, he was faced with a situation that cornered him as well as his ego.
In front of him, blocking the view of most of the monitor, more than a dozen people were clumped together, forming a little crowd that made the whole monitoring team feel uncomfortable.
’W-w-what the hell’s happening?’
The man couldn’t help but wonder.
Around the little monitor, the fifteen higher-ups of the White Sea guild carefully observed the scene displayed.
The first to comnt was a woman whose hair was dark green, however, it wasn’t dyed, it was a result of her class, and the sa color also covered her pupils.
"This is all useless, we all know that the guild leader would never initiate a fight with him without a reason"
She was the vice leader of the guild, and even though she was the one who spent the most ti with Freya, and she was her best friend, strangely enough, her impression of the woman was completely different from everyone else’s.
The man who first t Hans soon spoke, contradicting the woman’s words:
"It isn’t just because, she has a reason to fight him, do you not know what happened in New York?"
The woman he was talking to imdiately replied:
"Not really, I just know she went there to recruit the boy and she ca back angered and motivated to grow, isn’t that kind of good? She was previously only interested in perfection."
The few of them who knew what actually happened didn’t dare open their mouths, afraid of slandering their guild leader, but the only one who had the courage to speak was the third team leader, the man who had greeted Hans and had gathered all the other higher-ups there, he was known for being very cautious and observant, he was the figure everyone in the guild would reach out to when asking for advice, almost like a parent in a house full of children.
"Freya didn’t just fail to bring Hans back here… she was publicly humiliated by him"
"What?!"
Most of the mbers imdiately turned their heads toward the man, they saw his reluctant and pained expression, making them feel like what he said was the truth.
Another mber of the people gathered around the monitor, a young man whose age didn’t exceed twenty, imdiately asked:
"But if that were the case… how co we haven’t heard about it all this ti?"
Talking was the vice team leader of the guild’s fourth team, an S-rank swordsman.
He proceeded by saying:
"Arica has always been a few steps behind when it cos to the awakened world, they would have definitely taken the change to flaunt their prowess, but no one seems to know about it."
After a bit of silence, the other man replied:
"They would indeed do that, but they aren’t stupid.
It happened during the gathering of the association, all the branch leaders and vices were present at the ti, the news has probably already spread to all the higher-ups, the only reason why it wasn’t made public is because of our guild"
"What? What does our guild have to do with this?"
Another man, the vice-leader of squad one, couldn’t help but blurt out, but he was soon enlightened by a woman whose whole attire seed to be inspired by the old legends of witches and powerful mages.
"Our guild is one of the few global guilds, we take care of important raids that would otherwise endanger various cities or even states, even though such raids are always done in collaboration with the other major world guild, that doesn’t an our support is nonimportant."
She glanced around, carefully observing all the people surrounding her, and those people stared back at her with curious eyes:
"We… are one of the guilds with the most mage firepower, out of our higher-ups, basically half of them are mages, such a composition is rare in other guilds where the rates are about one to ten or one to five.
If we were to sit out of a raid, most of the other world guilds would do the sa, resulting in the inability to raid it, for that reason, the Aricans aren’t stupid enough to publicly trash our guild leader’s reputation, because they know that if one of the so-called: "Disasters", gates whose power exceeds the current ranking, was to open in Arica, the only chance they would have to stop it without suffering unbearable losses would be to rely on the world guilds, we will suck them dry, but we won’t let a single one of their awakened or civilians die.
That is sothing they can recover from, and it also benefits their fa, after all, they would spend all their available money and resources to protect the citizens"
Even the muscle head who was just beside her couldn’t help but agree, it did indeed make sense.
But… to think their guild master got humiliated publicly…
That only stood to show how powerful the young man they were currently watching truly was.
After a few minutes of walking, Hans couldn’t help but inquire:
"Where are you taking ?"
The woman stopped for a second as she said:
"Hans Richter, I know I wasn’t able to stand on the sa ground as you when we were in New York, but I believe I have improved to a point where I can beat you"
Hans’s lips transford into a faint smile as he checked:
"I assu you already know no one would fight without sothing to win for right?"
The woman didn’t smile, she seed annoyed by such a statent, but she knew it was the truth, so, she resud her walk at the usual pace as she replied:
"Of course"
Hans was led to yet another training ground, this ti, it was smaller than the ones from earlier.
"Your own personal?"
Hans asked, he had seen how the corridor that led into this room there were many other doors leading to similar spaces.
"No, this is a training ground specially constructed to stimulate the use of telekinesis, and it is just one of the five rooms for this purpose.
If you beat in more than three of the following, I’ll allow you to pick anything you want from the White Sea guild’s possession"
Hans smiled as he thought:
’Indeed, you have to be generous if you’re the guild master of one of the most famous guilds in the world’
He wasn’t taking the reward for granted but he saw no difficulty in beating Freya a second ti.
In the current room, there was nothing apart from the three devices.
"This is the room of power, I will go first, you will follow, and we will sum up our results, the one with the highest score wins"
Hans nodded in agreent as he saw the woman walk towards the first device.
It was planted on the wall, and it was colored black, contrary to the rest of the room which was completely white.
It was like a pressure plate on the wall, and just above it, a screen currently displayed the number:
000000.
