The sun was still up in the sky when the association clean-up team arrived at the scene.

There were sixteen people, and all of them were looking around amazed…

The captain let out a few words:

"What the hell happened here"

And all the other also asked themselves the sa thing.

There were signs of countless explosions, and the buildings in the surrounding area had been completely razed to the ground, but what was even stranger was that apart from the body of a young boy with his throat slit, lying on the concrete, no other carcass was found at the scene…

Hans’s spells had completely lted down to ash all the other attackers.

A few dozen ters from that place, inside a building without any electrical lights, a young man with black hair and a white dress was sitting with his legs crossed, he was leaning backwards a little, but he soon fell forward as he coughed up blood, staining the wooden floor in front of him.

As the blood spread and seeped inside the wood’s cracks, the boy’s coughing continued, he almost choked to death, but managed to get back into position after a bit…

He sighed out loud before saying:

"What a hassle… now I’ll have to move around using my real body for a bit."

A shiver ran down his spine as he thought about what had just happened:

"What a monster"

He comnted, thinking about Hans.

"I knew he was strong but… this is on a whole ’nother level.

And also that girl accompanying him… what… girl? Was it a girl? Fuck I can’t rember! What’s happening to my brain?!"

The more the boy tried to recall Emma’s facial features, the more the figure of her face in his mind beca distorted.

"Fuck"

Noticing what was happening, the young boy stopped and walked away, his body vanishing into thin air as sothing like a veil of mana enveloped him.

His voice toned down as he walked away, but his words still resounded throughout the room:

"At least I didn’t bring any of the main units"

Right at that mont, Hans and Emma were taking a cab back to the airport.

A barrier invisible to the naked eye was setting them apart from the driver so that nothing they were talking about could be heard by him.

"So? Where is it? The crimson lady’s hideout"

"That’s the problem… there are two, one in Naples, and one in Ro, we have to choose one and bet on it"

"Aren’t you able to tell if they’re in one or in the other? I an you’re the leader of the most powerful information-gathering association in the world…. Aren’t you?"

"Yeah I am, but the crimson lady never makes a move, she’s always cooped up in her room, doing god-knows-what, and it’s been almost a year since the last ti we’ve seen her take action, at that ti, she returned to Ro, so there is a higher chance probability she’s there…"

"Why would we have to bet? There are two of us isn’t there?"

"Are you thinking…?!"

Emma, who was watching out of the car window, turned around to look at Hans.

"Yes, we should split up"

"Have you never watched horror movies?"

Emma imdiately asked.

"What does that have to do with this?"

Hans asked instead of replying, confused.

Closing her eyes and acting like a guide for a film, Emma said:

"Rule one when you are in danger:

You must never slit up"

When she opened her eyes, the only thing she found was a closed door slamd to her face, Hans had already gotten out of the car.

She also quickly got out after paying the driver.

"You let a woman like pay twice, do you have no sha?"

Hans turned around and said:

"No"

In response, the blank expression on Emma’s face gave off a feeling of:

’What the hell?’

"Aren’t you quadrillionare or sothing anyway?"

"Nah, no way, I’m still a multitrillionare"

Hans turned around once again…

"So you’re telling you’re the richest person to ever set foot on this earth and yet you wanted to pay for a taxi ride because you’re a woman?!"

His grip on Emma’s shoulder tightened, and Emma began feeling a bit of remorse.

Hans sighed…

"I an, money’s never enough-"

Hans’s cold gaze stopped her words.

"Alright alright… jeez, I was just kidding"

"So? What now?"

"We wait for a jet, it should arrive in a couple of minutes since you want to split up, we have to decide who’s going where"

Emma answered taking the lead and guiding Hans to the part of the landing strip where her jet was supposed to arrive.

In the anti, Hans was thinking…

"Where is my grandad going?"

He asked after a bit of thinking.

"They say he’s headed for Ro"

Emma imdiately answered.

"Then you go to Ro, I’ll go to Naples alone, it’s most likely for her to be hiding in Ro, isn’t it? So it’s better if most of us go there, even if she’s in Naples, I’m pretty sure I can at least hold on or escape until you reach "

Emma stopped walking for a second before agreeing, it was the best developnt they could hope for.

"Alright then, but I’ll have to call another jet, you might have to wait for a bit, maybe I’ll buy one of those, I reckon it would probably be faster"

She said as she watched a few jets a couple hundred ters from them.

"No, there’s no need, I’ve got my own.

I hope I’ll see you after this whole matter’s solved"

Hans bolted away toward a jet in the distance and Emma watched as he got on the plane and the doors closed.

’Mph… what’s with this rush?’

She blurted out whispering.

Then, a thought erged in her head:

"Wait… I almost forgot…

he’s a multimillionaire, isn’t he?

And he got worked up because I said he should’ve paid the taxi?!

You… piece of shit!!!

You were just toying with !!"

Emma watched Hans smile from a plane window as the jet engines started and he got further away from her.

"To think I felt bad for a second…"

Hans didn’t need to hide from the Association anymore, now that he knew of his grandfather, it would’ve been useless to keep an eye on him, but even if they did, it wouldn’t have changed anything.

Ember slithered down his body, they had beco so accustod to one another that Hans didn’t feel her in the slightest when she rested wrapped around his body.

’It feels kind of lonely here… I had almost beco accustod to having Emma always talking beside ’

Before bringing out Caelan as he had promised a few hours earlier, Hans felt his phone buzzing and took it out of his pocket, it wasn’t a call, but a couple of ssages from an unknown number.

’Must be her’ Hans thought as he opened the files Emma had sent him.

It was seven pages of docunts, and they resud everything ever discovered by the night market about the lady of crimson.

’Now that I think about it… here in Italy, the night market is a lot more open to the public, in Arica the only part that’s active just as much is the trading center, but as for the night market, amongst low-ranking awakened it is nothing more than a legend, here however, even civilians are aware of it, as if it was on par, maybe even superior to the association.

The plane ride was short, but that didn’t keep Hans from creating a new spell, it was just a tier one spell, but it counted as the second spell belonging to the {sound path} which had yet to be created.

{sound distortion barrier}(tier-1)

It basically did the sa thing as a sound-blocking barrier, but instead of completely blocking off the sounds, it made them unrecognizable.

Even if it cost less mana, it wasn’t worth it, the only use Hans could find for it was ssing with soone.

Caelan and Hans talked about the happenings and prepared in case of an incoming battle.

"Hey, don’t you think it’s ti for to learn so of your high-ranking spells?"

The boy said.

"Didn’t you already find a couple of powerful ice spells when you went through my mories?"

"I am talking about stepping it up one level, I broke through the eighth circle, it would be inappropriate for not to have so spells that belong to my level would it?"

Hans asked Caelan while observing the view from the plane window.

"Actually, most mages don’t have spells belonging to their levels, aren’t you aware of that?"

"But I’m not a normal mage… aren’t you aware of that?"

’My fire spells still haven’t reached the eighth tier, and I only have two seventh tier spells, one is my {purgatpry’s flas} and the other is the advanced version of the (tier-6) {burning hell}, which I upgraded to {lting hell}(tier-7).

Other than those, I haven’t been able to create any new high-ranking spells belonging to the fire path…

But when it cos to ice spells… I’ve got an encyclopedia, don’t I? It would be such a waste not to use it’
