"You can take it… my sword"

Hans couldn’t believe what he had just heard…

He intended to ask for sothing that would help him grow a little stronger… not sothing as precious as that sword.

"Are… are you serious?"

The man replied without a hint of a doubt:

"I’ve never been more serious"

The young man still couldn’t wrap his head around it…

"Why are you giving this to ? I’m not even a knight, I’m a mage"

"Calling yourself a mage is underestimating your potential… even though right now my strength is similar to that of a C rank, my senses remain the sa as they were when I was at my peak.

Your body… isn’t that of a mage, I can also tell by the way you walk, and by your stance… you have trained your sword skills, even though it’s quite faint…"

’What the hell…. How can he tell sothing like that even while barely keeping his eyes open?’

"It’s still not sothing I can accept, it would be in greater hands if you gave it to your niece, she has a lot of potentials but her sword is only a mid (rare) weapon…"

’If during our fight she had used an epic item like I did… she probably would’ve won.

I get that I wasn’t going all out, but this demonstrates how much an item can affect the outco of a battle’

However, even saying that didn’t change Elijha’s mind, since his idea was simply discarded with a few words:

"My niece uses a rapier, she’s trained so much using that weapon that if I were to take it away it would completely ss with her calculations during battle, it would take at least a few months to get used to it, and the reason she is wielding a rapier is because that’s what she has the most affinity with, she would never reach such a level with a sword as heavy as mine."

Hans had no intention of accepting such a gift…

"I really can’t take it, the old man would get angry at if he saw with sothing like this, who am I to take a sword away from its rightful owner?"

For the first ti since their encounter, Elijah showed a sign of shock as his eyes widened in surprise…

"The old man… you know Ephaestus?!"

"I do know him… why ask?"

"His son was… a dear friend of mine.

If it troubles you so much to keep this sword, then at least give it back to him, and when you see him, tell him I’m sorry, what happened that ti was my fault"

As he said that, Elijah took off his silver necklace.

Hans had never even noticed it, but it took the shape of a cross, and it looked incredibly elegant.

Elijah raised his hand, and the little necklace in his hand transford into a full-fledged silver longsword.

Elijah looked at it as if he was seeing a long-ti friend.

"Here!"

He said, hinting at Hans to take it.

"I don’t need it anymore, and if you really have to fight , then it’s better if I don’t have my sword, it would just create even more trouble for you"

What the man said was right… if Hans had to fight him while he still held this sword, his chances of success would’ve slimd even more.

Hans could tell from a glance how much impact that sword would have:

[item na: Sword of Judgnt, Scilla

Item rank: Epic (low)

The longsword crafted from the tail spine of the SS-rank boss monster, {frozen dragon skeleton}.

It has incredible properties and raises one’s awareness during battle.

While being crafted, the sword was coated in a substance made by a rmaid queen’s tears, which allowed the item to transcend its rank and beco an artifact.

This grants the item the ability to change shapes between a sword and a rosary.

The effects of the rmaid tears are stronger when the item is in its rosary form, while the battle efficiency is higher when the item is used in its sword form.

Item effect:

•Sword form:

-Strenght 10%

The skill it is coupled with will receive a 100% increase in effectiveness.

The skill has a 5-minute cooldown.]

Hans was astonished… even if it was classified as a low epic rank, the sword was not too far behind when compared to his earrings, which were classified as dium epic rank.

This was because of the sword’s incredible adaptability granted by its two forms.

It even had an effect that helped mages, even though for a mage at Hans’ level, a 75 wisdom buff wasn’t that much.

"You can use it however you want, but if you feel bad about it at least take it back to its ho won’t you?"

Hans gave in since he understood how much of an impact this item would have on his stats, however, he planned to use it for a while and give it to the old man as soon as he returned from Europe.

"Sigh…

I can’t even say no to sothing like this…"

Hans took a few steps forward, he had finally made up his mind about the weapon.

As he crouched slightly to accept the gift from the man who was lying on the bed, Hans’s hands wrapped around the sword hilt.

He was about to take it away when he felt resistance from the other side.

’Huh?’

"Can I take it?"

He asked, just to make sure one more ti, but the man’s head wasn’t watching him, it was simply staring down at Elijah’s body as if he had fallen asleep, and right at that mont, the sword disappeared from Hans’ hands.

A purple substance, acting like a hungry parasite, had completely enveloped Elijah’s right arm.

It was now raised in the air, pointing the sword towards the ceiling.

"Elijah!"

Hans scread worried.

"Is everything alright?!"

"Eli-"

Hans’s eyes crossed, as he watched the blade a few centiters from his head.

’When?!…

Did this get here…’

Hans couldn’t react in ti, it was already…

Silence…

Hans, who had instinctively closed his eyes from the shock, found the courage to open them again, and the only thing he saw was a river of blood.

His eyes remained wide open…

"Haa…

I’m sorry about that.

To think it would try to keep the sword by taking control of my arm…

That could’ve been bad"

Elijah’s arm was… lying on the floor, the man’s bare flesh was exposed to Hans, as blood flowed out of his body.

’What…’

Hans was about to barf.

Elijah’s arm’s bone was cut clean in half by his other hand, which was enveloped in a dark and revolting aura.

In order not to let the thing inside him kill Hans, Elijah did not hesitate to cut his arm off.

And as the young boy watched him confused, he just stood there, with his usual expression of exhaustion.

"Are- Are you alright? Does it hurt?"

Hans asked a useless question… he knew damn well that it hurt… just looking at it made him shiver…

The blood looked so vivid that mont, the way it moved, the way it ran down Elijah’s body…

"It’s okay"

Elijah said fatigued.

Little beads of sweat began forming on his forehead as if he was… preparing for sothing else.

"The worst part has yet to begin"

He then added, biting the collar of his shirt as he braced for what was about to co.

"The… worst part?

Elijah? Elijah what do you an?!"

"Agh!"

Nothing seed to have changed, but the piece of clothing between the man’s teeth had already been ripped apart.

’For soone whose face remained emotionless even when inflicted with the pain of having an arm cut off… what is he so scared of?’

But when sothing began to move, Hans saw it from the corner of his eye.

The young man imdiately turned around, shifting his attention back to Elijah’s shoulder, where his missing arm had been cut off…

’What is that?!… Mana is beginning to gather…

There’s no way…’

A piece of flesh shaped like the root of a tree ca out of the cut part of the shoulder, and just a mont later another one followed, and then another, and another, and another…

Soon, thousands, tens of thousands of these little pieces of muscle fiber, flesh, and blood, began squirming and twirling, wrapping around one another as they grew out of Elijah’s body.

"Ahhgg!!"

The man’s desperate screaming resounded throughout the silent room.

Hans watched the scene disgusted and horrified as the screams continued.

After almost a minute, the process stopped, and everything left of that excruciating process was a new arm attached to Elijah’s body.

It didn’t feel out of place or different at all, even the muscle structure had been perfectly regenerated.

Hans almost couldn’t believe it, if it wasn’t for the old arm which was now lying on the floor with the sword in its gripless hand, the young man would have thought he was just dreaming.
