For the following week, class one was solely dedicated to the improvent of their ditation skills.
When the month of October began, all of them had brought their skill up to at least the fourth tier, a couple of talented students had managed to bring it up to the fifth tier, and Logan had been the only one who managed to bring it to the sa level as Hans’s, the sixth.
"All you have to do now is ditate, ditate in your sleep, in your free ti, on your toilet…
I don’t care, I want you all to achieve the tiers I set for you as objectives, and when you do, I will teach all of you the way to beat the other Academies…
Understood?!"
While speaking to his students, Hans almost resembled a military officer.
"Yes!"
The students replied in unison.
"Good… also, don’t forget, for those of you who want to grow even more quickly, the Academy’s gates-clearing mission is still ongoing…
Good luck!"
Hans ended the lesson and returned to his lodging.
"They’re all pretty good, even more than what I anticipated"
Caelan comnted, speaking directly into Hans’s mind.
"Yeah, they’re smart kids, especially Logan, his progress is the fastest"
"Yeah… but the sa goes for the others"
"Mh… now that I think about it, why can they acquire my ditation thod and even upgrade it to the sixth tier when they are still low-ranking mages?"
"It’s a different story when it cos to ditation techniques…
Even a first-tier can learn a godly ditation technique if they have enough talent to do it…
Obviously, the higher the rank the easier the process, but it isn’t abnormal for soone to learn a ditation thod three tiers higher than theirs."
"Is that so…"
"Mh, when I was still a first circle I had already learned the eighth-tier ditation thod passed down in the Frostbane family"
"Why would you need a cultivation thod when you are walking mana dryers…?"
"It can still help us speed up progress, and internal injuries are easier to heal with a ditation thod of a higher rank, so it’s quite the treasure"
"Woah, your family must’ve been really wealthy"
"Yeah, we were"
….
Silence reigned in Hans’s mind only for a couple of seconds before the Frostbane mage began talking once again:
"Aren’t you going to ask about the ditation thod?"
"No… I already have mine, and it seems to hold a lot of influence regarding the mage’s path…"
"Oh, you’ll be fine, even if what you said is true, your ice elent affinity is superb, it won’t be a problem for you"
"Still… no thanks, I would like to walk down my own path, also, it won’t increase my mana for much longer, did you forget? I’m about to break through the eighth tier.
Since the sixth-tier ditation does not improve my wisdom after becoming a seventh-circled magician, I guess it would be the sa for an eight-tiered one."
"Yes but it would still be-"
"Stop…
What are you doing, this is anything but you, do you have a favor you want to ask?"
A couple of seconds passed before a reply ca back…
"Colton Hayes…"
"What about him?"
Hans asked.
"I want-"
Before Caelan could finish his request, they were both alerted by the ringing of Hans’s doorbell.
The young man walked to the door before opening it and seeing who was waiting for him….
’Talk about the devil…
"Colton! What are you doing here?!"
"Teach…. It’s ti for to request your help"
"You an…"
"Yes.
I plan on breaking through today.
I need to reach the peak of the fourth rank in just a month, and I won’t be able to do so if I’m not even in the fourth rank"
"Well… that settles it then, since you’ve made your choice, we can start whenever you want"
The student bowed before Hans before they began the procedure, since Caelan was still watching, Hans was bothered from ti to ti by his remarks and comnts.
"How much do you think it will take him"
Hans asked Caelan while watching the boy sitting on the floor in a lotus position.
"I don’t know, probably three or four days"
"Mh… how much did it take you?"
"Two days of course, but don’t worry, you said it yourself, we shouldn’t compare normal people to …
Caelan’s voice seed to be boastful, but it was done on purpose in order to trigger Hans.
"How much did it take you?"
Caelan then asked…
"I don’t rember precisely… a bit more than a day if I rember it right… I was in a hurry to defeat soone... Actually, calling it sothing might be more accurate"
Hans was thinking back at the episode that had happened with the titanium golem, while Caelan was embarrassed of losing compared to the young man.
"I will stay with him during the breakthrough, tomorrow is Saturday anyway, so I don’t have anything to do"
"Alright, I’m not interested in watching you read books for days, so I would be grateful if you could send back, also, I will give up my privilege of being summoned for the next few days, but in exchange, you must listen to one proposal of mine afterward.
"Alright then…"
Hans, who had already opened up the first book he wanted to read, closed his eyes for a few seconds and severed the flow of mana into the little star on his heart, sending Caelan back to where he was supposed to rest.
’What’s up with him?… acting all strange’
Hans was confused by Caelan’s strange behavior, but he soon forgot about it as his eyes browsed through the book in his hands.
For the two following nights and the day in between, they both stood still, one ditating, and the other one completely absorbed in his reading.
Magic scriptures, public tos written by so mages, and even so books about martial arts…
Hans had borrowed those from the Academy’s library, which had just been restocked.
For the past few days, he had also been reading, thinking that it would be the fastest way to get the remaining wisdom he needed to reach the eighth tier.
His thod proved to be extrely efficient, and he was only missing eight points before reaching the desired 3500 wisdom.
’What even is wisdom…’
Hans questioned…
’Strength, Agility, Endurance… these all have a clear effect on my body, and even if my forte is Wisdom, I still can not figure out what it is.
From its na, one might think it would make people wiser, maybe even smarter…
But it’s not like that, I have felt the increase in my own body, and I am sure there are only so specific things that have changed…
First of all, even if it hasn’t made "smarter" my high wisdom has increased my brain capacity, both when it cos to storing and usage.
I can vividly rember most of the things I’ve experienced so far, and so spells I haven’t cast in a lot of ti are still clear in my mind.
Other than that, calculating spell trajectories and properties also beca many tis easier compared to how it was when I started.
Obviously, the more wisdom I possess, the higher my mana pool, but I cannot believe that is all there is to it…
Should I try asking Caelan?
Seems like the best option.’
Once again feeding mana to the little star that had been inactive for the past day, Hans called for Caelan in order to ask him so questions.
"Is it done?"
The man asked as soon as he was summoned.
"No"
Hans replied while turning around and showing him that Colton was still seated on the floor.
"What do you want from then?"
"Caelan, what is the thing we mages cultivate?"
"Huh… have you gone mad? What would that even an?"
"Let rephrase it differently… did physical warrior exist in your world?"
"Physical warriors… yes, I think so tribes in the south were able to fight on par with mages only using their bodies, what about them?"
"If they cultivate their bodies to make them stronger, we, as mages, what are we cultivating?"
"I see… it was sothing my goddess once told , so I won’t be able to answer you"
"What? Should I talk to you in the plain of darkness where all this freedom of speech isn’t permitted? I’m sure you’ll be forced to spit out the information then"
"As if, that space does not have the power to force to reveal things that have sothing to do with my goddess, did you forget how last ti I simply told you I didn’t want to talk about what happened while I fought for the goddess because of a promise?
That place won’t help you in any way this ti, so how about a bargain?"
Hans thought about it before concluding that he would’ve made the decision after listening to what Caelan wanted.
"Alright, there’s no harm in hearing what you want"
"I want…
That guy"
Only one person was present in the room apart from Hans and the dead Caelan…
The young man’s student:
Colton.
