Hans arrived at Aiden’s dorm, where his friend, Grant, was playing gas on his phone.
"Knock knock"
He knocked on the door, and a few seconds later, the boy ca out of the room.
His face changed as he saw Hans.
’What is a teacher doing here??!!
Did they find out about the bottle of alcohol I smuggled inside the academy?… or’
The boy was reassured when he saw his friend on the teacher’s shoulders.
"I’m sorry to disturb you so late at night"
Hans said.
"N-no, there’s no problem teach, please co inside"
The other replied.
After putting Aiden down in his bed, Hans decided to ask Grant a few questions before leaving.
"What happened in these few months I haven’t seen you?"
"Uh… we traveled with my dad, we went down in South Arica, and saved a ton of people"
The student said those words proudly, but Hans was only worried about Aiden.
"He told …. That people died because of him"
Hans confessed to Grant.
"What?"
The boy’s face was shocked by what Hans had just said.
’Died… because of him? What kind of….’
"Oh… I see what he ant by that"
"Could you please tell what happened in detail"
"Of course"
…
"While we were traveling, we helped my dad’s team with their work, they said we would gain so real experience and a chance to level up, so we were both eager to participate.
Things, however… were worse than what we could’ve imagined.
The things we saw were… just thinking back at it sends shivers down my spine, anyway, while I adapted to it, and began fighting on the front with the others after just a month, Aiden began making potions for everyone.
Even though they were low rank, the mbers never had enough money to use potions, so they were a great help.
But that’s not how Aiden saw it, he thought he was useless, and always apologized for being unreliable.
I have seen him help countless people, and even save them from the brink of death, but he seed to only care about the ones he couldn’t save.
I am honestly worried, he’s such a good person… maybe even too good"
"That’s right"
Added Hans.
"We have to fix this ntality of his, or else, he’ll feel responsible for all the people in the world"
"I agree"
Said Grant.
Hans left the dorm after bidding goodbye to Grant before returning to his room.
On his bed, while ditating, Hans couldn’t stop thinking about sothing.
’His ntality is the problem but… he must feel bad as it is right now.
His friend, Grant, is gifted with a rare class and has already broken through level fifty, aning he should be on par with most D-ranks… while his level is still stuck at twelve.
If it continues like this, the gap between them will widen more as ti passes, and he might even lose the confidence to continue his friendship….
Maybe… it’s about ti for to lift his cage and let him spread his wings…
{master alchemist}…
Wasn’t it?’
Hans spent the whole night ditating to recover the mana he had lost during that day’s training, before proceeding to eat breakfast and leaving his room.
’I’ll finally see them again’
Hans thought while he made his way to the academy’s main building.
Hans grabbed the door’s handle and pushed down on it, opening the door.
As the classroom’s door opened, silence took over the place, and all the students turned their heads towards the entrance.
Hans’s footsteps resounded throughout the room as his gaze inspected the students seated in their seats.
Not a single one of them was missing…
Hans sat down behind the teacher’s desk, and no one still dared to talk.
’The vibe sure is different from how It was the first ti I t them…
Hans thought about his first encounter with the guys standing in front of him, especially a certain soone who had gotten himself in trouble after trying to attack him.
"So?"
Hans said, worrying many of the students.
"How was sumr break?"
Everyone felt relieved hearing Hans hadn’t changed in the slightest.
The first one to raise her hand was Claire Carter, having spent much ti with Hans inside the gates, she was one of the students who were most familiar with him.
Hans watched her as if giving her a sign to begin to speak.
"Other than taking a good rest teach... I’ve been training with the ditation skill you’ve taught us!"
" too, I’ve almost reached the second circle"
Added another student.
"Haha… you’re still only at the peak of the first circle? I’ve already broken through!"
"What? How was the advancent?"
"Honestly…. Traumatizing"
….
Chatter spread through the room, and Hans smiled seeing them as energetic as ever, the mood had finally returned to how it was before the start of the break.
A couple of minutes passed by, and Hans decided to let the students enjoy the reunion with their friends.
This however ca to a stop the mont one of the best students raised her hand…
It was Lila Harper, holder of the rare class {enchantress}.
Hans saw her and asked:
"What is it?"
"Teacher… we can all talk about these things later when we’re out of class…
I think I am also speaking for the rest of my classmates when I say this: instead of talking about our sumr activities, could you please tell us sothing about what you did?"
Everyone’s interest was imdiately piqued, and they began aiding Lila in her request, leaving Hans with no choice but to give in and tell them a couple of stories.
"Alright alright, how about I tell you all a secret?"
The youngsters’ eyes shone bright when hearing those words.
"Approved!"
David Miller imdiately said, smashing his hand against the desk creating a loud noise.
"Well… I am happy to hear that you’re finally interested in sothing other than fighting but… don’t ruin the academy’s equipnt alright? Otherwise, I might send you to see the infirmary’s equipnt again."
Even though Hans said those words smiling, the boy understood the aning imdiately, and the mories of him being thrown out of the room and bashed against the wall erged again.
"I-I’m sorry"
He imdiately apologized embarrassed as his classmates chuckled.
"Let’s see, for starters, is there anyone who has seen the improbable gate raid live?"
"What? Are you kidding teach?"
Logan Archer, the four-eyed kid asked getting up from his seat.
Hans was baffled at the boy’s actions, he rembered him to be pretty timid.
"The question should be…
Is there anyone who hasn’t seen the improbable gate raid live?"
"Ah…
Well then, is there anyone?"
None of the guys raised their hands, and Hans was shocked to find out about it:
"Do you guys… enjoy watching people fight so much?"
A consensual nod was executed by the whole class in unison.
"Sigh…. Whatever, it’ll just save the trouble of explaining it from the start.
As you all know, the improbable gate break resulted in the forming of the giant blizzard that covered a big part of Greenland.
But what most people don’t know… is that the blizzard was divided into three layers.
The innermost ones are more dangerous than the outermost ones, and that’s the reason why this information wasn’t disclosed, we thought it might’ve caused panic among the citizens."
All the students seed to be pretty intrigued by the story, even the geniuses who always seed to mind their own business like Colton Hayes.
"The outermost layer was the habitat of the yetis, and that’s the only part of the raid we have been able to stream…
Hans talked about the strong winds in the innermost area and the difficulty they had encountered while crossing it, before revealing the existence of the tortoises.
Around a hundred ters in height, those colossal titans destroyed everything standing in their path.
Their steps were enough to make the ground tremble, and being squashed by one of them implied taking on a force strong enough to kill an A-rank hunter.
The students remained shocked when hearing about this, and they began wondering whether the story was true.
"Every single one of them was an S-rank monster, but their reaction speed and slow attacks reduced their strength to a high A-rank with an absurd defense."
"Mh… teacher, where are they now? I an, even if they’re mindless beasts, if there were that many, wouldn’t Greenland be near its end?"
"There’s no need to worry about them… Greenland made a deal with soone, and they took care of all of them"
"Wha-what?! All alone?"
Asked another one of the students shocked.
"Yeah… all alone"
"Who was it?!"
Another one imdiately questioned.
"That’s a secret"
Replied Hans jiggling.
"Ahh! Co on teach! How can you keep us hanging like this?"
"Haha… you guys won’t believe even if I told you…
But how about this, let’s test your skills outside, and if one of you passes my assessnt I’ll tell them.
It’s been a long ti since we’ve trained together, isn’t it?"
