’Every single one of them…
That is just... Insane.
Being a true mage, my power increases exponentially compared to that of every other.
If I imagine a world filled with thousands of true mages…
How did they fall prey to the beasts?’
"Do you really not know anything about the system?"
"The… system?
You have been speaking using strange terms, even if I can understand the word I do comprehend its aning"
Hans didn’t reply.
"Is sothing the matter?"
"Caelan, how do you improve your tier?"
"We Frostbanes have no need to think about that usually, the cold mana seeps into our body slowly accumulating, but if we want to speed up our growth we can use the thod most people use: ditation"
"Do you get any stronger after killing beasts?"
"No, why would I?"
"I don’t know just… it feels like it should be that way."
"What are you talking about?"
"I am quite tired and I need so ti to think, we will continue this conversation tomorrow"
"Wait, kid, answer my question first!"
Before replying, Hans got out of that place, reopening his eyes and finding himself on top of the hotel’s bed.
"Damn that kid! I answered all of his questions, he could’ve at least told what he was thinking about"
"Was Caelan trying to say sothing?
…
Nah, I’m sure it won’t be anything important, I will hear what he has to say tomorrow."
Like that, Hans began ditating to recover the mana he had just lost, and in the anti, he thought about what he had just found out.
He had already thought about the system’s origins, and he had co to the conclusion that it was sothing like a "display of the world".
So people believed In God, while so didn’t, but Hans had always thought that there was no such thing as "God" but instead sothing more similar to fate.
Then, hearing what Caelan said, he ca to know of the existence of various gods in various worlds, but his idea still did not change.
He thought that above all gods, The one who prohibited them from interfering with mundane matters was the sa being who had gifted the humans their status window.
But he had been proven wrong.
The status window wasn’t just a screen that made people see their strength, agility, or stamina, and it wasn’t even the thing that made people awakened, rather than that, it was an ability that allowed humans to grow imnsely by absorbing experience through beasts slaying.
Hans, however, couldn’t figure out where that energy that allowed them to level up ca from.
Even if his supposition was true, if this "fate" or whatever, was able to give them such powers, then why have them level up? For what purpose make humans stronger?
"I always thought "it" wanted us to battle against the monsters, but if "it" has that much power, then why just not exterminate them itself?"
Sothing wasn’t right.
Hans had no clue, and everything he was thinking about was based on nothing more than a hypothesis.
"Its better if I stop here tonight, otherwise my head might crack"
Since he had no need to sleep while ditating, he decided to refresh his mind by listing out everything he had found out in the last few days.
’These last few days, I might’ve understood more things than what the whole research departnt has found out in the last eight years.
Even if I have no use for this information, if I make sure to factor everything in, I might be able to connect a few dots.
First of all, I do not aim to know anything more.
My one and only objective is to stay with my family, once I defeat the snake, we will get back our lives, and maybe even return to Mom’s holand.
To do that, however, defeating that colossal monster won’t be enough.
My fa has already spread worldwide, everything will beco chaotic for my family and .
Right now, I’m spending all my ti trying to grow stronger, but once I’ve achieved what I want to, having so many people with their eyes on could beco quite a nuisance.
And more importantly, the monsters.
My family will not be safe with monsters everywhere, we were lucky to survive four years, but if another catastrophe as big as the gate’s opening hits our planet, then even I might not be able to protect them.
In order for them to be safe, I need to build a place where no one can touch them, and in the anti, I will do my best to close these gates forever.
It doesn’t matter if the one opening them is a god or an eleventh-tier mage, sooner or later I will reach that level.
And when I do…
I will make sure nothing will ever be able to co near our planet ever again.
Other than that, I discovered that gods exist.
They are quite different from what we on our planet usually think of them, and they basically aren’t able to interfere with the world of the mortals.
The third most important piece of information I have co to know is that we are not alone.
For countless decades, not only scientists and astrologist, but almost every living human has asked themselves at least once whether there was soone out there, among the limitless void of the universe, or if we are the only ones cursed with existence.
From what I know, I can tell their world is different, and the sa for their values, but sothing is still not right…
I have seen Caelan both alive and dead, and his body, just like his sister’s, was certainly human.
It was not just a coincidence, his bones and face were shaped almost exactly like ours, is there a chance that… we are correlated?
I guess I will have to ask him about his world’s human history before knowing an answer.
Then, I also discovered that gates aren’t a natural phenonon, soone is controlling them and creating them, making it hard for us on Earth.
Lastly…
My powers.
I don’t know much about them, but soone before wielded these abilities, and whoever they were, their strength far surpassed mine, to the point where their nas ca out even from the lips of a god."
….
’Sigh… this sure is a tough puzzle to solve.
Where should I even start?’
Hans continued thinking and ditating all night, making plans for the future, and trying to guess the reason behind this shift in the world as everyone knew it before the catastrophe.
The next morning, still full of doubts, Hans ca out of the hotel, and once done with the checkout, he boarded his plane after a short car ride.
"Good morning"
Said Hans, opening up the pilot’s cabin for the first ti.
"Good morning sir, is sothing the matter?"
Replied the pilot, who wasn’t used to seeing the vehicle’s owner since the whole point of that plane was to let awakened relax without any annoyance.
Even the copilot was surprised.
"No, I just wanted to thank you for the trouble, I’ve been making you book take-offs every day."
"Haha, no worry sir, it’s my job"
"So? Have you figured out when we will be able to depart from Chicago?"
"Yes.
We will arrive in Chicago in about two and a half hours, and we will take off around midnight.
Since the flight to LA will take about four and a half hours, we will land early in the morning.
Don’t worry, by tomorrow you will be back at the academy"
"I am in your hands then, thank you for your services"
"It’s nothing sir"
This ti, mimicking exactly what the pilot said, even the relatively young copilot replied.
The plane took off, and almost four hours later, Hans reached his destination.
He stood in front of a Smithy just beside the Chicago association branch.
It was a familiar place, he had already been there a couple of tis, but a lot had passed since he had last visited.
He opened the door, walking inside the Smithy.
The temperature there was almost unbearable, Hans could feel the scorching heat on his skin.
’Is the old man trying sothing new with a hotter fla?’
Thought Hans.
’Well, I will just wait for him to finish what he is doing.’
Hans went into the back of the shop and saw the old bearded man hitting his hamr against a lted bar made up of a strange material.
’It’s a sword huh?’
He thought.
Well, this really is quite an astonishing sight, I might be srized If I stare for too long.
The heat on his body, the sound of the hamr, the movents of the old man, they were all in harmony.
It was as if Hans was feeling a concert with his senses.
When three hours later, the sound of the hamring stopped, the old man finally noticed who had co to pay him a visit.
