'It's been a really long while.'
Having spent enough ti in this new world where values were all over the place, Leo's nights had been getting more and more comfortable.
However, the lucid dream he had this ti made it so this specific night represented the exact opposite aning of comfort.
Leo ended up experiencing a big chunk of Cassian's tragic backstory!
'But…'
Although this part wasn't ntioned in the novel, the mories that Leo received dictated that this was practically a part of Cassian's existence.
Ever since he witnessed the blood path created by that psychopathic Hero, he would always see that scene at night in full detail. In fact, it would even contain things that he might have missed at the ti of the incident itself.
Starting from the expressions on Fred and Naila's severed heads, all the way up to the killer's crazy smile. The blood-red painting was extrely vivid and so were the bottled-up emotions.
Normally, let alone every day, anyone who experiences a dream like this a few tis might go insane, but to the steadfast Cassian, it only served as determination fuel.
It was partially thanks to this dream that he managed to endure years of suffering until his Special Ability evolved into its final form.
However…
'Why now?'
Once Cassian finally fulfilled his desired retribution, the dream he had for years no longer ca back.
At first, he had a few non-dreaming nights, but in ti, normal dreams started taking place, one that matched his current interests mixed with a random selection of things he perceived.
As such, while not necessarily sothing that he should worry about, Leo was a bit shaken to see everything once again.
It was true that all his other alter-egos had sad backstories, but Cassian's was definitely the worst.
After all, although the fate of Arthur's parents was incredibly tragic, Arthur had no mories of them, the family that he did rember were not only still alive but also experiencing the highest points of their lives.
The sa could be said about Baekho, he did spend days suffering, but the one accompanying him through it was also very alive. In a way, she could even be considered to be sitting on the highest throne of the Murim.
On the other hand, Cassian was just a miserable person who only managed to fulfill his goal in life. This wasn't about getting a happy ending, rather, it was hard to say that any part of his life could be classified as happy after the death of his temporary family…
'A different perspective does help.'
As one who had more complete emotions, Leo couldn't exactly relate to Cassian's version of himself, but he understood a part of it, and that made him even more complete than before.
That being said, this still didn't explain the weird timing of this unexpected dream. If there was one guess that Leo could co up with…
'Is soone digging up my past?'
It was rely a baseless thought, but it was the only thing that Leo could think of other than random occurrence. In any case, even if that was true, it didn't really matter.
Unlike Leo himself back in reality, as well as the secret identity he used as Arthur, Cassian had nothing to hide about himself.
Not only was he openly using his real na, but he had been intentionally leaving a trail around while he did his work as a Villain Hunter.
He might have not put any effort into publicizing his tragedy as an explanation, because it would be quickly buried by the higher-ups, but he put no effort into hiding it either. He was practically an open book.
'Quite literally.'
The open book in Leo's eyes was proof of that.

The very first thing that soone could understand by taking a look at this was that Leo had been very active during the last nine months.
The number he had at the start was already considered a lot when compared to the beginning of his last two adventures, but Leo's Reading Point had now passed the checkmark for inflation.
Easily speeding through the 10k milestone that he barely hit in his last book, he was less than a hundred points away from hitting 20,000!
'It's truly is a City of Villains after all.'
While the novel's title was supposed to be more taphorical in nature, there really were a lot of Villains that wandered in the dark of New Enigma City's nights.
Even when Leo made sure to only add the really bad ones to his hunting list, he still had to go hunting every other day.
Surprisingly enough, this wasn't all thanks to the corrupted nature of the City's higher-ups. It was just that there were too many Ability Users in the City as a whole.
In reality, the number of the so-called Heroes was at least two tis that of Villains, but taking down unknown Villains was a very unpopular job.
Only the involvent of soone of Cassian's fa would get the attention of most Heroes around. Though that might not be the case as of late…
'I think last day's pick was 159, or was it 160 already?'
Although a sizable part of the Villains that Leo did hunt gave very few points, on a good day, Leo would land on a small group of 3 to 5. In the end, the sheer number made up for the lack of quality, giving an even darker shade to the na of the new Villain Hunter in town.
