Anos and Mira relentlessly pursued the trail of the fleeing Alice.

Princess had seen through Prey Priest’s concealnt in the tomb; clearly, he knew sothing about the heretical Cult yet chose to keep it hidden.

And so, Anos took advantage of the night to head for the parish where Prey Priest was, and indeed, they found a clue.

An undead capable of reproduction...

This was the first ti Princess had heard of such a bizarre matter.

Mira, following Anos, ran wildly, seemingly with boundless energy. As she ran, she asked,

"Anos, shouldn’t we deal with that priest?"

"Huff, huff... There are Night Watchn, no need to worry,"

Anos panted as he spoke.

As a mber of the Delos Family, recklessness was never associated with them.

They sprinted together, and in the princess’s embrace, the divining Compass fluctuated continuously, directing them to the constantly changing direction of Alice’s escape.

Finally, by the mouth of a narrow alleyway, the constantly fleeing Alice turned around, her dirty, stinking fangs facing the oncoming Princess and Mira.

At this mont, knowing she couldn’t shake off the two pursuers, Alice launched a counterattack. Under the moonlight, the uniquely grotesque face of the undead drew nearer and her sharp claws, moving with incredible speed, slashed towards Anos’s head.

"Rosaya."

Ti slowed, and Anos drew his Longsword from his waist, striking downward without any hesitation.

The Princess, who grew up in the North of the Empire, had particularly adept sword skills. Moreover, Alice’s movents had already slowed, and the sword accurately severed the elongated arm. Then, Anos raised his knee in a strike, forcefully knocking the charging undead to the ground.

As the power of the Ancient Language took hold, Alice knelt down, issuing a pitiful howl as viscous black blood flowed from the severed arm.

She emitted a powerless, furious roar, her mouth dripping with thick saliva, looking utterly disgusting.

Mira hurriedly pulled out a bottle of Holy Water from her bosom and poured it directly over Alice’s head.

The body of the latter trembled violently as the flesh began to emit white smoke as if it was being corroded, and she fell to the ground, clutching her head and continuing to wail pitifully.

Anos’s eyes were cold as he raised his sword to chop off the other arm.

At this point, Alice had lost all ability to resist.

"Good... now we wait for the Night Watchman to arrive,"

Anos slowly lowered his Longsword.

............

Mira soon laid eyes on the Night Watchn ntioned by Anos.

Night Watchn were originally a general term for the guards who patrolled the Empire after nightfall checking the curfew, but at so point, Night Watchman had beco the specialized term for the organization dealing with heretical cults and ghosts and monsters.

The first generation of Night Watchn was established by the Church, thus they were also called Church Night Watchn.

Figures clad in short robes, convenient for movent, erged from the darkness, and with quick and efficient moves, they swiftly bound the howling Alice on the ground. Following this, the leader of the group presented a deeply respectful bow before Your Highness.

"What about Prey Priest?"

Anos inquired.

The leader answered:

"Your Highness, by the grace of God, our n have already taken him into custody. However, as he is the Priest of this parish, we must consult the opinion of the Pastor first before we can begin interrogation."

Anos had no objections; it was the rule of law of the Empire.

But shortly after, a Night Watchman hurried over and whispered sothing to the leader.

"What, you say... Prey Priest is dead?!"

Anos, who had intended to turn away, suddenly stopped in her tracks.

Those eyes, like the imperial eagle’s, stared intently at the Night Watchn from the darkness.

The captain, regaining so composure amid his shock, walked up to Anos and quietly explained the situation.

"Your Highness... this is truly our fault, I will definitely clarify the matters behind this and give you a full account."

After listening, Anos’s gaze shifted to Alice, who was no longer struggling,

"No, there’s no need for that, I want to personally interrogate that living dead."

Her voice brooked no argunt.

............

This was Mira’s first visit to the Imperial Palace since starting school. Everything was the sa, from the hall decorations to the eunuch Chief Steward. She lay sowhat bored on the couch, endlessly twirling the silk threads of the cushion.

Alice was taken to the prison within the Imperial Palace by the Princess, who had stopped trusting the Night Watchn after Priest Prey’s abrupt death.

Mira didn’t know how long she had been waiting here. She was very sleepy, and she accidentally dozed off on the couch. When she woke up, dawn was breaking in the sky.

Upon lifting her head, she saw Anos leisurely sipping grape wine at a Libog-style table and chair.

The hazy sunlight drizzled over the Princess’s long hair, as beautifully subrged in water as gold.

Anos slowly turned her head and softly parted her lips to say,

"Are you awake?"

Mira nodded, crawled off the couch, and rubbed her eyes.

Then she thought of sothing and asked,

"Anos, how did it go?"

"It’s a long story..."

Anos sighed,

"The heretical tomb, the living dead that can reproduce, and Priest Prey... The connections between these matters are minimal, and it wouldn’t be strange to call it a coincidence, but I don’t think it’s a coincidence."

Mira heard a hint of exhaustion in her sigh.

"You didn’t sleep all night, did you?"

Mira asked softly.

Anos nodded slightly.

"Then get so sleep first. We can talk when we go back; I’m not in a hurry anyway."

Mira stood up and insisted strongly.

Anos was montarily taken aback. She watched as Mira walked over, snatched her wine glass, grabbed her hand, and forcibly dragged her to the soft couch.

Her white glove was pulled off by Mira, who then picked it up and casually placed it on the table.

Anos attempted to get up but couldn’t resist Mira’s persistence, so she obediently lay down on the couch.

With one glove off, Anos removed the other and let Mira put it together on the table.

Mira took it, the pure white glove was extrely soft, like swan feathers. The girl curiously held it up to the sunlight to take a look and then lowered her head to sniff it.

The glove was soaked with the fragrance of rose oil from the inside out, and beyond that, there was a slight scent of sweat.

Anos looked at the girl’s actions and smiled.

The girl’s simple gesture brought back mories of the rare pleasant mories from her painful childhood.

When people are young, they are always curious about everything, wanting to look at everything, touch everything. Sotis they do things in private that don’t quite match noble etiquette, like unscrewing the perfu bottle treasured by their mother or sniffing their own young underarms and feet.

Watching Mira’s childlike behavior, Anos slowly closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep.
