Who is Shan’en?

For a mont, everyone couldn’t help but look at each other.

It had been exactly three thousand years since that day of rebirth, and many epics, scriptures, history books, and poems had been lost; even that glorious na, along with the Golden Hall, had vanished into the long river of history.

In the True Religion of today, the na of Shan’en was not ntioned in any of the four Scriptures, and within the Danschel Empire, there were no historical texts older than the Scriptures of the True Religion.

Mira scratched her head, seeming to have heard the na before, but couldn’t quite rember.

It seed... it was an important na.

Once, it was.

People turned their gaze toward Colin, hoping that this heretic from a Foreign Country would have the answer.

Colin shook his head awkwardly and said,

"I, I don’t know who Shan’en is... perhaps, perhaps it’s related to the Golden Hall..."

Seeing this, Anos spoke up:

"So, what else do you know about the Golden Hall?"

Colin shook his head again and whispered,

"I’ve only heard it ntioned in very old prayers, which are no longer used by anyone, only the old Priests know a few lines, as if they’ve rusted."

Colin made a clever analogy.

"Hmm... Got nothing then?"

Anos raised her hand to her mouth, biting her fingers as she muttered over the text on the coffin.

For a long ti, Solamus was regarded as the last Prophet until now, but the builders of this tomb, the followers of this heretical Cult, thought otherwise.

Shan’en, a na never heard before... this heretical Cult seed convinced he was truly the Prophet of the Lord.

As Anos was lost in thought, Mira approached the tomb chamber, looking left and right, but ultimately shook her head with no results.

"Did you find anything, Mira?"

Anos looked at the girl and softly said,

"I was hoping for your discovery."

Mira, sowhat embarrassed, scratched her head and whispered,

"I didn’t find anything either..."

"All right..."

Anos had thought the wondrous Mira would discover sothing.

It seed that while Mira was an odd girl, she wasn’t omnipotent.

After searching the chamber for a while without finding any useful clue, they all sighed and returned disheartened.

However, Anos noted keenly that Father Prey occasionally glanced at the fallen female corpse.

As they were leaving, the Princess spoke up:

"Father Prey, it seems you have discovered sothing."

Father Prey glanced at Anos.

Mira instinctively stepped forward, wanting to shield Anos behind her.

His gaze held threads of hostility.

Princess’s question clearly offended the Priest.

"Respected Anos Your Highness, I indeed have found sothing."

As everyone’s gaze, accompanied by Anos’s words, focused on him, Prey volunteered,

"As a Priest, I’m often requested to exorcise spirits. Lord above, I’ve never been negligent.

In my many years of devoted service to Lord, I’ve encountered such undead, the weak ones having no intelligence, acting on instinct, while the strong ones are like normal humans, capable of thinking and communicating.

The reason I was staring at this corpse is rely because I am quite sensitive and easily drift into mories."

Father Prey spoke at length, which appeared quite honest, making everyone nod in agreent.

But the Princess was clearly not ready to let him off so easily.

"Oh... sounds interesting.

What is it in your mories that you cannot forget?"

Father Prey frowned, his hands trembling slightly.

Everyone instinctively crowded around Anos.

Father Prey released his hands and slowly said:

"Once an undead killed a child’s entire family, except for the child who hid in the wardrobe. Nobody survived.

You don’t understand, the impact that had on , Lord above, even though I dispatched that undead, I couldn’t heal the child’s trauma.

Let us leave it at that, do not inquire further."

Towards the end, Father Prey appeared sowhat uneasy.

"Never thought this tomb could evoke such mories in the Priest, indeed a poignant coincidence."

Anos tugged at her white silk glove and stopped there.

............

After leaving the tomb, Anos negotiated with the head of the Olive Guild, who was almost unilaterally commanded, not daring to breathe in front of the Princess, head bowed all the ti.

"Your Highness, are you saying... this cellar can no longer be used?"

The head almost had a mournful expression.

"Exactly that, and I won’t repeat myself."

Anos dropped this remark and turned away,

"Now, it’s ti for the Night Watchman to take over."

Mira, hearing this, curiously asked:

"Night Watchman? What is that?"

Anos briefly explained:

"An organization dedicated to dealing with heretical cults, directly under the Emperor and the Imperial Shepherd."

Mira nodded in understanding.

Princess promptly looked in the direction Father Prey had left, narrowing her eyes.

"Mira, fancy an adventure tonight?"

Mira’s eyes imdiately sparkled at the ntion of an adventure.

"Why not?"

she countered.

.........

As the sun slowly slid down the hillside, it dimly descended into the dull night.

Father Prey, gasping for breath, finally returned to his parish before the curfew.

His disciples, the monks, were sitting on the church benches. Seeing the Priest return, they imdiately stood up to greet him, as it was not uncommon for the Priest to miss evening prayers due to exorcisms.
