The other two divine trees are the Tree of Life of The Elven Race and the Tidekeeper Tree of The Fractured Sea.
But it isn’t The Fractured Sea in this thunderstorm zone—it’s the vast sea outside the land of confusion.
"What does this thing do?" Johnnie couldn’t see the branch’s exact attributes, so he asked, puzzled.
Douglas shook his head. "I only know it’s humanity’s last safeguard. I don’t really know what it does."
Humanity’s last safeguard?
"Master, the World-Tree is the carrier of the Universe Continent. This half branch can grow into a new World-Tree and rebuild a continent," Coco’s voice ca.
So that’s it.
Johnnie understood. In other words, if the human world is destroyed, they could use this World-Tree branch to build a new continent for humans to survive.
He wouldn’t let things reach that point, but having this was good insurance.
Johnnie put it away without hesitation, then looked back at Douglas, a flash of killing intent in his eyes.
"What, you still want to kill ?" Douglas’s face changed. He stepped back, wary. "Johnnie, I already gave you all my good stuff."
Johnnie sneered. "Exactly. That’s why you have no value now."
The Doe Family had already betrayed humanity. He couldn’t let them live.
Now that he had the ancient artifacts from Douglas, there was no reason to keep him.
"Johnnie, you can’t kill ."
Douglas staggered back in fear and blurted, "You and I are both Heaven’s chosen. staying alive only helps you."
Heaven’s chosen?
Johnnie sneered. He wasn’t Heaven’s chosen at all—he was the Heavenslayer, reborn.
He was about to use a soul skill to erase Douglas when Coco’s voice ca again: "Master, he’s right. Keeping him alive is good for you."
"Why?" Johnnie asked, confused.
Coco was silent for a mont, then said, "Master, the fate of Heaven’s chosen is already set. This Douglas might be the one who dies in your place in the end."
"Die in my place?" Johnnie frowned and said, "But I’m not Heaven’s chosen. I’m The Heavenslayer."
Only Coco knew he was The Heavenslayer. Even Skye and the others didn’t know; they just treated him as Heaven’s chosen.
Coco went on, "That’s exactly why you’re in even more danger. Master, trust —keeping this guy alive won’t hurt you. And your identity as The Heavenslayer must stay secret from everyone, especially Skye and the others."
Skye?
Johnnie frowned harder, even more confused. He asked, "Coco, is there sothing special about Heaven’s chosen and The Heavenslayer? Do they both have to die in the end?"
Coco fell silent for a while, then said, "Master, I can’t reveal too much. In short, don’t trust anyone—not even . But for now, you can trust ."
Coco’s voice faded.
Johnnie still didn’t move. A thought hit him—why was he reborn?
He had never thought about it before.
Now he realized his rebirth wasn’t simple. There might be an unseen hand behind it all.
"Johnnie?" Seeing him stand there in a daze, Douglas frowned and asked.
"Hm?"
Johnnie pulled his thoughts back. He stopped dwelling on it. No matter what plot or goal was behind his rebirth, he would just do what he had to do: protect Earth and resist the alien races.
The killing intent in his eyes faded. He looked at Douglas and asked, "Do you know how to get out of here?"
Douglas shook his head. "This Eight Trigrams Furnace is special—no weaker than an ancient artifact. Unless we can do what Owen did and turn into a Divine Soul to escape, or repair the Celestial Mirror, there’s no way to leave."
Johnnie frowned. Both options were impossible.
Were they going to be trapped in the Eight Trigrams Furnace forever?
He was about to ask Coco if there was a way out when the space above him trembled and a bright light flashed.
Seeing Owen’s Divine Soul escape and no movent inside the furnace, the Tidal Colossus tried to open the lid to check.
"Go!"
Johnnie’s eyes lit up. He grabbed Douglas, who hadn’t reacted yet, and dashed out.
Whoosh!
The two of them slipped out of the Eight Trigrams Furnace.
"Huh, you’re not dead? Wait—where’s the Six Ding Divine Fire?" The Tidal Colossus’s face changed as he sensed the fire was gone.
Without the Six Ding Divine Fire, the Eight Trigrams Furnace lost much of its power.
Did Owen devour it?
"Johnnie, don’t get tangled with them. Let’s get out first!" Douglas urged.
Johnnie understood. Even though refining the Six Ding Divine Fire had greatly boosted his strength, he was still no match for the Tidal Colossus.
He moved instantly, put the Eight Trigrams Furnace away, then used the Celestial Mirror. He took Douglas with him, and they vanished.
"Damn it!" The Tidal Colossus was furious. Not only had Johnnie and Douglas escaped, they’d also stolen the Eight Trigrams Furnace.
"Search for them with everything you’ve got!" he ordered coldly, spreading his divine sense. As long as they were in these seas, they wouldn’t get away.
...
Rumble!
Thunder rolled. Waves surged. Gales raged—the core of the thunderstorm.
Two figures appeared out of nowhere.
Johnnie and Douglas.
The Tidal Colossus feared lightning, so this was the safest place.
"Johnnie, why did we co here?" Douglas looked at the storm-filled sky, his face changing.
Even at Stage 10, he couldn’t withstand this thunderstorm. If lightning hit him, he’d die for sure.
Johnnie stayed calm. The lightning was strong and terrifying, but it had no soul attacks, so it couldn’t threaten him. It could even help him improve the Eight Desolations Body-Tempering Art.
He glanced at Douglas and said flatly, "I’m going to cultivate here. You can leave on your own."
"Leave?"
Douglas stared at the endless storm, frowning. This Heavenly Tribulation was terrifying. Without the Celestial Mirror, he had no way to escape.
But the Celestial Mirror was already in Johnnie’s hands. There was no way he’d give it back.
Douglas hurriedly said, "Johnnie, didn’t you co here to look for the Dragon Pulse?"
"You know sothing about the Dragon Pulse?" Johnnie looked at him, confused.
Douglas nodded quickly. Lightning kept crashing down around them, making him nervous.
"I know where Dragon Island is," he said. "If you want to train, send there first. Then you can co back here to cultivate."
Johnnie shook his head. "I’ve never been to Dragon Island. I don’t have its coordinates."
The Celestial Mirror is powerful, but it can only send you to places you’ve been.
After Johnnie ca here, he got trapped in the storm and then ran into the Tidal Colossus. He never reached Dragon Island.
"We can use the Celestial Mirror at the sa ti," Douglas said quickly. "Don’t worry—you’re in control. I can’t take it from you. And once you enter Dragon Island and save the coordinates, it’ll be easy for you to go back and forth."
Johnnie was tempted. It was a good plan.
But he still didn’t fully trust Douglas. He warned, "Don’t try anything. If I catch you next ti, I will kill you."
He took out the Celestial Mirror. They activated it together, but Johnnie kept control.
Buzz!
The Celestial Mirror locked onto a set of coordinates. Space rippled, and the two of them vanished.
An instant later, they appeared outside a city. The gate was packed with people and very lively.
Johnnie put away the Celestial Mirror and eyed the tall, massive city, frowning. "Douglas, are you sure this is Dragon Island?"
It didn’t look like an island. The sea was behind them, but a vast land lay ahead.
Douglas nodded. "Didn’t you notice? Everyone coming and going here is a powerful dragon."
Dragons?
Sure enough, all the passersby carried a strong dragon aura.
It seed this really was Dragon Island.
"You two are outsiders, right? We’re looking for the Dragon Pulse right now. Please, co in." A voice called out. An old man nearby walked up and greeted them warmly.
Dragons?
Johnnie sensed the aura on the old man too. He was clearly one of the dragon race.
He couldn’t help looking to Douglas for answers.
Douglas shook his head. He didn’t know what was going on either.
The last ti he ca to Dragon Island, he didn’t go in. He planned to use the Celestial Mirror to earn so extra money, but that old woman targeted him, kicked him into the thunderstorm zone, then the Tidal Giant caught him and trapped him in the Eight Trigrams Furnace.
Before they could ask anything, the old man went on, "The Dragon Pulse is about to appear. Please, co with ."
He warmly invited them and headed toward the city.
Johnnie stayed alert but still followed him inside.
The Dragon Pulse is the dragons’ greatest treasure. There’s no way they’d hand it over. They must have so hidden purpose.
He wanted to see what trick this old guy was trying to play.
Boom!
Suddenly, a loud crash ca from behind. The sea churned, a terrifying aura spread—soone was fighting.
Johnnie looked toward the commotion, puzzled.
"Hm?"
His face changed. Out on the sea, several massive Celestial Dragons were besieging a woman.
She wore a long dress, her bare feet like jade, and her aura was icy cold. It was Pitiless.
This woman really never goes away.
Johnnie frowned. He had t Pitiless on Dragonsbane Island, and now, right after entering Dragon Island, he ran into her again.
But it didn’t seem like Pitiless was after him this ti.
Boom!
Another thunderous blast. With an angry dragon roar, two Celestial Dragons were knocked flying.
"Pitiless, we were victims too in what happened before. Do you really want a fight to the death with the dragon race?" a five-clawed golden dragon glared at her and roared.
"Hmph. We can settle the grudge—hand over the Dragon Pulse and Owen’s Divine Soul," Pitiless said coldly.
"Owen?"
Johnnie froze for a mont. The dragon expert who trapped him in the Eight Trigrams Furnace and tried to seize his body was nad Owen.
Did that guy also have a feud with Pitiless?
