The mont Luca and Lucas took refuge in the building closest to them, the entire structure was surrounded by dense shadows.

Imdiately, the sound of nurous arrows slicing through the air ca from outside.

Clearly, the enemy's response ti was very quick.

To prevent the enemy from charging in, Luca swiftly activated the fire magic runes.

Flas descended from the sky, surrounding the entire building with a wall of fire.

Neither the shadowy monsters nor the hidden enemies, who were continuously firing arrows from the darkness, could imdiately penetrate the fire wall.

By this ti, Lucas had reverted from his giant bear form back to his human form.

Looking at the blazing fire wall outside the building, he said with a tone of relief,

"Thankfully, your reaction ti was quick enough. I almost got killed by that monster."

Luca, however, didn't share Lucas's ease.

He quickly responded,

"My reaction wasn't fast enough. The other team mbers have already been killed by the unknown enemies. And the fire wall won't hold for much longer. We need to co up with a way to deal with the enemies quickly."

His words caused Lucas to panic.

"What should we do? The enemy's power is too strong! We'll just be waiting to die in this building!"

Lucas's assessnt of their situation was clearly flawed.

However, the main reason for this was that Luca had intentionally concealed his true strength.

But, from Luca's perspective, even if he unleashed all his power, it would still be difficult for them to leave unscathed.

After all, who were these unknown enemies who were continuously shooting arrows? How powerful were they? These were questions neither Luca nor Lucas had the answers to.

Compared to Lucas, Luca managed to keep his composure.

He quickly scanned the temporary shelter they had taken refuge in.

The building was just an ordinary warehouse, abandoned for a long ti, so aside from dust, there was nothing else inside.

"Maybe we can escape through the back of the warehouse. There's no sound of arrows slicing through the air in that direction."

As Luca furrowed his brow, lost in thought, Sophia's voice suddenly appeared.

She thought escaping through the back of the warehouse might be a viable option.

Luca shook his head.

"This is what the enemy wants! They've intentionally avoided putting too much pressure on us from that direction. If we really try to escape from the back of the warehouse, we'll be walking straight into their trap."

While Luca and Sophia were discussing this, the fire wall at the outermost edge of the building was suddenly breached by dense shadows.

Soon after, all the fire walls surrounding the building collapsed one after another.

The shadowy monsters were about to charge into the building, and Luca realized he had to make a decision.

Under imnse pressure, he remained calm, quickly thinking through his options while observing everything inside the warehouse.

It didn't take long for him to notice sothing unusual in the corner of the warehouse.

It appeared to be the entrance to a passage.

In that instant, Luca grabbed Lucas and ran toward the strange corner he had spotted.

When he reached the corner, he stomped heavily on the ground, and a passage entrance appeared before them.

"How did you find this hidden passage entrance?" Lucas asked, surprised.

While Luca had been scanning the warehouse, Lucas had also been closely observing everything around him, yet he had failed to notice the hidden passage.

At such a tense mont, Luca didn't answer his question.

"Don't ask so many questions! Get into the passage with , the enemies are about to rush in."

Without waiting for Lucas, Luca imdiately entered the passage.

Lucas, though still worried, could only follow Luca when he heard the sound of the outer walls of the building collapsing.

The mont Lucas entered the passage, Luca sealed the entrance using defense magic runes.

"We should be safe now, right?" Lucas asked cautiously, looking at the sealed passage entrance.

Luca nodded but said nothing.

His gaze was fixed on the depths of the passage.

The entire passage was pitch black, with only a faint light at its far end.

"So, can we just wait here until the enemies leave and then go out?" Lucas asked again. "That seems like the safest strategy."

As he spoke, his eyes followed Luca's to the depths of the passage.

Though he didn't see anything unusual, he had a sense that sothing unspeakably dangerous lay ahead.

Luca didn't respond to Lucas's question, as he was pondering whether or not to venture deeper into the passage.

Just then, the sound of heavy footsteps suddenly echoed from the entrance of the passage.

It was obvious that the unknown enemies had already entered the warehouse and were now searching for their traces.

"We can't stay here, the chances of being discovered are too high! We should head deeper into the passage, maybe we can find sothing else."

Luca said to Lucas in a lowered voice.

After saying this, he imdiately took the lead and moved deeper into the passage.

Luca's actions greatly worried Lucas.

However, Lucas knew that staying here would certainly bring even greater danger.

So, he had no choice but to grit his teeth and follow Luca.

The two of them quietly advanced through the pitch-black passage.

The passage seed to have no end. The two of them had been walking for a full hour, and nothing in the surrounding environnt of the passage had changed.

All they could see was the faint light ahead.

The faint light they saw now was no different from the one they had seen at the entrance of the passage.

Lucas was truly concerned, and trembling, he asked Luca,

"Are you sure we should keep going? I feel like there's no way we'll ever reach the end of this passage."

Luca didn't answer him.

At that mont, Luca only frowned and continued forward.

"Did you hear what I said? Have you lost your mind?"

Lucas quickly ran ahead and blocked his path.

Luca stared intently at Lucas. He certainly understood what Lucas ant.

But right now, he couldn't offer any explanation, because he himself wasn't sure either.

The dark passage really seed endless.

Continuing deeper, they didn't know what kind of danger they might encounter. But Luca believed they absolutely could not turn back.

If they did, they might face an even greater danger.

"We have no choice but to keep going! Don't forget, we ca here to carry out a mission. And we should still be in the abandoned manor.

The abandoned manor is a place that even the officers of the Black Forest camp think has problems. We can't expect to not encounter danger here. The danger of turning back is greater than the danger of continuing forward. So, we can only keep moving forward."

After a brief explanation, Luca continued onward.

Lucas believed Luca's words.

He could only continue following Luca, his head hung low in resignation.

Another hour passed, and the environnt of the passage changed noticeably.

The dark passage was now filled with countless flickering light spots, darting around in all directions.

Lucas was drawn to the scattered light spots, his gaze fixed on one of them. He didn't know how much ti had passed, but suddenly he found himself standing in the village of his hotown.

He was by the river outside the village, fishing, while children played and laughed nearby.

Everything felt so peaceful, so gentle.

Lucas felt a bit dazed.

He seed to rember that he was on a very dangerous mission.

But the details of the mission were slipping away from him.

The mories related to the mission seed false, like a nightmare he had the night before.

"Forget it!"

Lucas decided not to think too much.

He sank into the pleasant mories, and his thoughts began to fade away.

When the only thing left in his mind was fishing, he suddenly felt a hand tightly gripping his shoulder.

The sharp pain in his shoulder snapped him back to full awareness.

His mind returned to the pitch-black passage.

"What happened? Did I almost get lost just now?" Lucas quickly asked Luca.

Luca, with a serious expression, nodded grimly.

"Thankfully, you had my help. Those scattered light spots seem to have a hypnotic ability. Don't look at them."

After sighing in relief, Lucas suggested,

Luca nodded again, still with a grave expression.

Lucas was a bit confused. He didn't understand why Luca was still so serious after he had regained consciousness.

He also noticed that Luca's gaze seed strange.

"What's wrong? Why are you looking at like that?" Lucas asked with so concern.

Luca didn't answer imdiately. Instead, he pulled a mirror from his pocket.

The reflection in the mirror showed Lucas's face, but his face had beco a blurry shadow.

The mont Lucas saw this, he imdiately knocked the mirror to the ground.

"This is an illusion! You must not believe it! I am absolutely fine right now, I haven't turned into a monster!" Lucas said rapidly.

This ti, Luca didn't respond at all.

His eyes were fixed intently on Lucas, as if he was ready to strike at any mont.

"Now, it's just the two of us. We have to work together if we're going to escape!" Lucas said anxiously.

He knew he wasn't a match for Luca. If Luca truly decided to attack him, he would be swiftly killed.
