Drumph, Donlow, and Fuzzsir quickly completed a thorough sweep of the area surrounding the shelter.

They did not encounter a single monster, which only deepened the confusion in their hearts.

That afternoon, the three of them returned to the shelter.

Once they regrouped, Donlow spoke up first.

"The area to the north of the shelter is completely free of monsters. I scouted all the way north to the abandoned train station. That’s far enough from the shelter, and even there I didn’t see a single monster—which ans we can completely stop worrying about a monster attack from that direction."

Fuzzsir imdiately nodded in agreent.

"In the southwest, I didn’t find any monsters either. I didn’t go as far as Donlow did—only as far as the abandoned overpass."

Their answers did not surprise Drumph.

After all, in the southeast—the area he had scouted—he too had found no trace of monsters.

"I didn’t encounter any monsters either, but the chaotic energy in the area I explored was still incredibly strong. I’m guessing the regions you two checked were also heavy with chaotic energy?"

Donlow and Fuzzsir both nodded without hesitation.

"So where exactly did all the monsters go? With the chaotic energy still this intense, it ans there must still be monsters nearby. Could it be that they’ve all gone to Daskhollow Gorge?"

Drumph muttered the thought aloud.

But he wasn’t convinced his own guess was correct.

In his view, monsters would never all converge on Daskhollow Gorge.

Yes, the Zenith Technology Company had a base there—but the monsters’ primary goal should be to kill humans. And there weren’t many humans inside Zenith Technology Company’s Daskhollow base to begin with.

At that mont, Donlow offered her own suggestion.

"Let’s try to establish contact with the Daskhollow base. Nova should be able to give us so intel. If all the monsters really have gathered near the base, she’d definitely want us to co help. That ans she wouldn’t dare hide any important information from us."

Drumph imdiately agreed to her proposal.

He used his communicator to connect with the Daskhollow base.

Although Shelter 102 managed to get through to them, the communication channel was highly unstable.

"How are things on your end? Around Shelter 102 there aren’t any monsters left, but the chaotic energy is still extrely strong."

Donlow spoke directly into the communicator, addressing Nova.

Drumph stood just behind her, pacing back and forth.

On the other end of the line, a broken, intermittent voice soon ca through.

"...I’m... so... complicated... need... support... make sure... avoid... quickly..."

Though Nova’s words were fragnted, all of them could still clearly hear the urgency in her tone.

"It sounds like she really does need our help!" Donlow said quickly after cutting off the transmission.

Drumph and Fuzzsir both remained silent.

Drumph kept quiet because he suspected this might very well be a trap.

Fuzzsir said nothing simply because he felt it wasn’t his place to speak.

"What is it? Do you think my judgnt is wrong? Or is it that you don’t want to give Zenith Technology Company any help at all?"

Donlow asked, her voice tinged with mild puzzlent.

After a brief pause, she continued to reason with them.

"I know you both don’t trust Zenith Technology Company, but I believe Nova herself can be trusted—to a certain extent. In several of our past operations, she’s provided us with assistance. And up until now, she’s never stabbed us in the back in any mission. No matter what, I think we should at least offer her so help when she’s in real trouble."

Drumph locked his eyes on Donlow.

When she finished speaking, he let out a sigh.

"I want to help Nova too. But right now, we have far too little intel. From the looks of things, all the monsters have gathered in Daskhollow Gorge. If we head there recklessly, we’ll be walking straight into extre danger ourselves."

"So what you’re saying... is that we won’t be giving Nova any help?" Donlow pressed.

Drumph didn’t answer right away.

He furrowed his brow, thinking it over for a mont before finally coming to a decision.

"The three of us alone can’t guarantee a safe operation. I’m going to pull so people from the Imperial Capital. Once we have enough strength on our side, I’ll go to Nova’s aid personally."

With that, he turned and left the conference room.

Donlow was slightly displeased.

She felt that Drumph was being far too cautious.

"Is there anyone left in Imperial Capital who could be reassigned here at a mont’s notice? Morning Star headquarters must have an overwhelming number of matters that require manpower. There’s simply no way we can provide Nova with assistance in the short term," Donlow said with evident dissatisfaction.

Fuzzsir shook his head.

"I think Nova will definitely have a way to buy us ti until we’re ready. She’s carrying plenty of secrets, and her Zenith Technology Company is practically the embodint of secrecy itself. I refuse to believe Zenith Technology Company has no counterasures against a monster siege. So let’s not worry ourselves too much about them."

Fuzzsir’s persuasion had so effect.

Although Donlow still felt a twinge of discontent, she ultimately accepted his reasoning.

At the sa ti, inside the Daskhollow Base—

Nova’s situation was dire.

She discovered that not only had the base been surrounded by a massive number of monsters, but the silent dark shadow—the sa entity that had once posed an enormous threat to her—had never left.

Because the silent dark shadow remained stationed at the base’s exit, communication between Daskhollow Base and the outside world had beco extrely difficult.

Under the current circumstances, Daskhollow Base could barely maintain contact with the nearby Shelter 102.

During her communication with Donlow, she had already requested reinforcents.

However, she wasn’t certain whether Donlow would actually send help.

"The silent dark shadow’s behavior is way too strange! Under normal circumstances, it would never linger in one place. And it certainly wouldn’t choose to stay so close to other monsters.

Why is it that even after all these monsters have surrounded our base, the silent dark shadow still hasn’t left?! Could there be sothing inside our base that’s attracting it?!"

Nova roared angrily.

The pressure she was under was simply unbearable, and she had to vent it sohow.

Her outburst startled everyone in the base.

"Commissioner, are you all right?"

One of the security captains cautiously stepped closer to her, lowering his voice as he asked.

Nova turned her glare directly on him.

The security captain was so terrified that he couldn’t utter another word.

Ti slipped away, second by second, and after roughly three minutes, Nova’s gaze finally softened.

"I’m fine! You don’t need to worry about . No matter what happens, I can keep my composure and co up with the best possible counterasures. Now, get out there and patrol the base.

With so many monsters surrounding us, it ans that so of them might find strange ways to infiltrate the base. You must locate those intruders and eliminate them quickly."

At Nova’s command, everyone imdiately left the conference room.

Now, only Nova remained inside.

"Perhaps I can’t stay in the base any longer. Its defenses won’t hold out much longer, and who knows when reinforcents will arrive?

Maybe I should take the initiative—strike first and drive the silent dark shadow away! If I can force it to retreat, the other monsters might also withdraw."

Nova made her decision in an instant.

She headed straight to the deepest part of the base—the armory—determined to choose the most suitable weapon there.

While Nova was taking action, a series of strange changes unfolded among the monsters in Daskhollow Gorge.

The weaker monsters began vanishing one after another, while all the stronger ones gathered around the silent dark shadow.

Fueled by a surge of imnse chaotic energy, the silent dark shadow grew even more powerful than before.

Its dense shadows spread outward until they completely shrouded the entirety of Daskhollow Gorge.

Even if Luca were to appear here now, all he would see was an endless expanse of darkness.

The silent dark shadow seed to be waiting for the right mont.

It kept probing for weaknesses in Daskhollow Base’s defenses—

until it finally found one.

Seven hundred ters from the base’s main gate, along the outer wall, an extrely thin crack appeared out of nowhere.

Shadows began to seep through the fissure, slipping into Daskhollow Base.

The silent dark shadow didn’t charge in imdiately, knowing that doing so would surely alert those inside.

Instead, it sent only a fragnt of itself to infiltrate the base unnoticed.

Once inside, this fragnt would quietly unlock the main gate from within.

When that happened, its true body—along with the surrounding horde of monsters—could storm inside all at once.

If the plan succeeded, Daskhollow Base’s defenses would collapse without question, and nothing would stop it from heading straight for the deepest part of the base: the armory.

There, hidden within, was a treasure the silent dark shadow had dread of possessing for ages. If it could obtain that treasure, its strength would soar by a full two tiers.

At that point, it would qualify to ascend to the rank of a demigod.

Ever since Zenobia’s sin-domain divine rank had been destroyed, no evil-aligned chaos deity had erged—not even a single demigod.

If the silent dark shadow’s plan succeeded, it would beco the sole god within the evil-aligned domain.

And if the opportunity presented itself, it could go even further—seizing Zenobia’s divine rank entirely and becoming the new evil-aligned chaos deity.
