Jiang Chen opened the map to check his bearings, then headed west through the Howling Moon Mountains. The terrain beca increasingly primitive, filled with ancient trees and wolf-infested forests, causing him to gradually slow his pace.

At the bottom of a mountain hollow was a strange, pitch-black wolf-like creature. It had a mane only around its neck, and its body was covered in eerie black scale armor, giving it a savage appearance.

As Jiang Chen stepped closer, he grew more alard. From afar, the creature looked rely odd, but up close, Jiang Chen could see that this wolf-like beast bore characteristics of abyssal creatures. Its external scale armor looked almost identical to that of the Ogre Chieftain.

Additionally, the NPCs fighting the monster were in dire condition. Each of them was wounded—so were even missing arms and legs, bleeding profusely.

Unfortunately, he was still one step too late. Before he could descend, the boss launched a violent attack. The few remaining NPCs, barely clinging to life, were all slain. Two of them were even impaled by the wolf’s claws—the scene was utterly grueso.
Only two NPCs nearby remained conscious. They had survived because they hadn’t gotten close to the fight.
At this mont, the wolf-like boss fixed its blood-red eyes on the two survivors. It raised a deadly claw, now enveloped in red energy, ready to strike them down.
“Whoosh!”
A flaming arrow imbued with trendous energy shot forth. The wolf-like boss was caught off guard and staggered back a few steps, its skill interrupted.

Jiang Chen moved swiftly, loosing arrows in rapid succession. He aid to drive the boss away—those two NPCs couldn’t die, at least not before he questioned them.

The thick-skinned and tough Lava King once again moved in to harass the enemy under Jiang Chen’s command.
With its level rising, the Lava King had grown in size—from 1.5 ters to 1.8 ters—now starting to live up to its title of “Lava King.”

The beast glared at Jiang Chen with ferocity, its fangs nearly cracking from the force, yet it had no way to retaliate.
As ti ticked by, Jiang Chen’s Painted Sparrow Phantom Bow began to emit a resonant hum, gathering imnse power—a sign of a Phantom Strike Critical Hit.
