"Damn it..."

Faced with this stubborn dog, Su Ran was at his wit’s end and could only let it act on its own. However, he understood one thing, this situation likely triggered so plot related to Wang Cai, possibly involving an enemy, so he couldn’t be careless.

However...

What surprised Su Ran was that no matter how frantically Wang Cai barked, it couldn’t lure any monsters out, not even a minor one. This was too abnormal!

Could it be...

Were all the monsters here deaf?

That’s ridiculous, isn’t it?

"Wang Cai, stop barking. Even if you scream yourself hoarse, no one’s going to pay you any mind."

Su Ran patted Wang Cai’s head, laughing as he advised, "The one you’re eager to et, you’ll see them sooner or later, so there’s no rush."

It seed as if Wang Cai understood Su Ran’s words. It imdiately closed its mouth, maintaining a vigilant gaze straight into the darkness, baring its teeth and looking fierce. If Su Ran wasn’t riding it, it probably would have charged ahead already.

"Let’s go, take a look over there, but don’t act impulsively."

After reassuringly reminding himself, Su Ran rode on Wang Cai and moved forward. He also summoned his clone, Lei Bat, to scout ahead, so that if there was any danger, he could prepare in advance.

"Hmm? What’s the situation here?"

Once Lei Bat ventured into the darkness, Su Ran realized that besides two trees, there were no monsters at all. It was eerily quiet, contrasting sharply with the scenarios he imagined.

In exasperation, Su Ran released his control over Wang Cai and jumped off its back, signaling it to lead the way ahead.

Freed, Wang Cai took off like a wild horse, crashing straight into the trunk with a whoosh.

"Boom!"

A loud crash sounded as the trunk was struck, creating a tree hollow from which a chilly aura emanated, conveying an intense feeling of danger.

"Woof woof!"

In its eagerness, Wang Cai didn’t wait for Su Ran’s command and leapt into the tree hollow, disappearing from sight.

"Wow, why are you so anxious—I an, why are you rushing in like a dog? If there’s danger, you’ll regret it!"

Su Ran was not about to watch as Wang Cai t a mishap and imdiately followed it into the tree hollow, regardless of any sealing traps, because with a small zombie by his side, it was no big deal!

This large tree had a diater of over ten ters, resulting in a spacious area inside the tree hollow. At the center of it, a vine chair was placed, with a humanoid figure sitting atop it. Its appearance was like that of a charred body, dry and desiccated like a mummy.

A special hidden NPC!

Su Ran’s heart leapt with joy. He had encountered many hidden NPCs before, such as the rchant Yin Si, whom he dug out with a hoe. The one hidden in the tree hollow surely wasn’t simple and might even hold a main quest line; if he could coax it into his hands, it would be great.

As for why Su Ran believed this mummy was still alive, well, wasn’t it obvious? If it truly were a mummy, Wang Cai wouldn’t be so excited, biting and barking; it would have simply peed on it!

Hmm, that reasoning checks out.

"Woof woof!"

Ever since entering the tree hollow, Wang Cai’s barking hadn’t stopped. It seed quite apprehensive of the mummy, hesitating to leap forward. This indicated that the being on the vine chair was undoubtedly powerful, perhaps pretending to play dumb while waiting to bluff a tiger!

"Wang Cai, you can never wake a person pretending to be dead, no matter how long you bark, it will stay the sa."

Setting aside the matter of the Beast King Xisi for the mont, Su Ran focused all his attention on the mummy. To be safe, he summoned the small zombie, Darknight Thunder Dragon, chanism Divine Pig, Iron-blood Sand Puppet, and ten shield war skeletons. With thorough preparation, he could minimize threats to his life.

"Hmm?"

After being summoned, the Darknight Thunder Dragon let out a small gasp, stirring Su Ran’s curiosity.

"What’s up, do you recognize this guy?"

Su Ran asked curiously. It seed the talk about the Dragon Clan having ancestral mories was true; this denizen who hadn’t even stopped here before actually recognized the mummy. Its identity must be quite extraordinary.

"Ghost Clan."

Darknight Thunder Dragon circled around Su Ran once, then spoke up, "It holds the aura of the Ghost Clan, very powerful!"

"No wonder!"

Su Ran ca to a realization. No wonder Wang Cai was so out of sorts, the mummy’s identity was this unique. To think a race suppressed by gods and demons could still have remnants hidden so deeply, could this be a grand Beast Clan conspiracy?

Facing this Ghost Clan mummy, Su Ran grew increasingly excited. This involved the three realms of gods, demons, and ghosts. If there was a quest, it wouldn’t be surprising if it were the main storyline!

Of course, the premise was that the mummy had to shake hands with Wang Cai...

Just as Su Ran’s thoughts were wandering, the mummy suddenly stood up from the vine chair with a thud, nearly scaring Su Ran out of his wits.

"Noisy!"

The mummy’s eyes ignited with blood-red flas, fixating on Wang Cai. "The lapdog of humans dares to strut here, disgracing the Artifact Beast’s reputation!"

Humans?

Su Ran was montarily stunned before realizing that his attire had given this being a false impression. However, he had no intention of explaining; as they were destined to beco enemies, there was no need for idle chatter.

However, until the plot concluded, he wouldn’t act rashly, waiting for the mummy to continue talking, hoping to glean useful information.

"Woof woof!"

Wang Cai was unfazed by the mummy’s imposing deanor, barking with even more vigor, jumping and bouncing in place but without any intention of charging forward. If Su Ran had to translate, it would be—co over if you dare!

"Hmph, barking dog!"

The mummy twisted its stiff neck and gazed at Su Ran, speaking with a tone of appreciation, "Human, your skills are impressive, acquiring even a dragon pet. Unfortunately, this dragon is still in its juvenile stage, its strength weak."

Oh my!

This level of pretentiousness is sothing!

To even see through the true identity of the little loach, recognizing the strength at a glance, this perceptiveness is indeed remarkable!

The Darknight Thunder Dragon, agitated by such words, wriggled its body and unleashed a dragon’s roar, as if to prove its strength.

"Not now, there’ll be ti to show off later."

Su Ran cald the temperantal Darknight Thunder Dragon before addressing the mummy, saying, "Didn’t expect a Ghost Clan mber like you to evade the suppression of gods and demons. If this news gets out, your days of ease will co."

"Human, I didn’t expect you to see through my Ghost Clan identity. Thus, you must die."

The mummy chuckled hootingly a few tis, its voice extrely jarring, "To still taste fresh human blood in my lifeti, luck is indeed on my side!"

Finishing, the mummy leaped up, striking a bizarre gesture, bellowing loudly. Black aura surged from its body, condensing mid-air into a poisonous serpent, lunging to wrap around Su Ran.

"You want dead? Let’s see if you have the skill!"

The attack was abrupt, yet due to the mummy’s long-winded speech, Su Ran had ntal ti to equip himself. He imdiately stationed ten shield war skeletons before him to fend off the black serpent, while summoning an Ice Shield for additional protection, ensuring his safety.

However...

What Su Ran hadn’t expected occurred.

The black aura-transford serpent completely ignored the shield war skeletons’ block, effortlessly passing through them. Even the Ice Shield he summoned just now had no effect, as the black aura tamorphosed into a blooming lotus, enveloping Su Ran’s head, invading through his seven orifices, traversing downwards, attempting to invade his heart.

"Hahaha, human, dying in fear is a terrible experience!"

Seeing the attack hit Su Ran squarely on the head, the mummy laughed wildly and shouted sharply, "Perish!"

The scene the mummy anticipated didn’t play out; Su Ran acted as though nothing happened, shaking his head in an attempt to expel the black aura.

"That’s impossible! Extract the bloodline, absorb for !"

Realizing sothing awry, the mummy couldn’t help but shout again, but still bore no result. It finally understood, looking at Su Ran in disbelief and exclaid, "You, you’re not a fleshy life form!"
