Chapter 1703: Chapter 1485: Not Indulging NPCs’ Temperants

“That’s right, how do you like this platinum pet’s stats?”

Su Ran noticed Qing Qi’s astonished expression and realized he’d accidentally bragged a little too hard. Having a high-tier pet was amazing—it turned heads wherever you went!

The owner shines when the pet is rare; that’s the logic behind it. Ahem, or rather, the twisted logic.

“Impressive! I didn’t expect you’d even own a platinum pet. Isn’t this the first platinum pet in the entire ga zone?”

Qing Qi’s heart was like a stormy sea, turbulent and raging. This was her first ti seeing a platinum pet. Scanning through its long list of skills nearly left her dazzled. “I always thought it was just a dark-gold pet. Clearly, I underestimated it!”

“Uh… sothing like that, I guess.”

Su Ran had no heart to shatter Qing Qi’s enthusiasm. He wasn’t sure if this Venomous Ancient Flood Dragon was the first platinum pet, but he was certain that this Darknight Thunder Dragon was the first magic beast.

The poor girl was already shocked out of her wits. If she found out the tier of the Darknight Thunder Dragon, she’d probably faint on the spot, right?

“Overturning Water—co on, I don’t even know the original stats of this Flood Dragon. How am I supposed to figure out what changes the Poisonous Heart Fruit made?”

Qing Qi finally asked the crux of the matter. The question now wasn’t the rank of the pet, but more about what the Poisonous Heart Fruit had done to the Flood Dragon that had Su Ran swearing his head off earlier.

“Oh, for crying out loud, Qing Qi girl, so you’re telling everything I’ve been saying just went in one ear and out the other?”

Su Ran suddenly realized he’d wasted his breath earlier. This woman hadn’t caught a single word!

“Huh? I didn’t catch that.”

Qing Qi bashfully lowered her head. “Uh, could you maybe repeat it?”

“Repeat? So what, you’re just gonna leave that Fire Spirit hanging up there until it literally cries?”

Su Ran lost all interest in boasting. Since he’d already got the treasure chest, it didn’t matter even if they left the Fire Spirit unresolved. However, NPCs often existed for a reason—who knew? Maybe there was still a surprise waiting for them.

“Uh, you’re right. Lucky it doesn’t have consciousness, or it’d probably be so depressed it’d just die…”

Qing Qi finally realized she’d completely forgotten about the sa-type Fire Spirit dangling in midair while she stayed preoccupied. It did feel a little inconsiderate.

“Overturning Water, how do we free it? We can’t just chop through all those chains, can we?”

“I’d suggest waking it up first. This Fire Spirit probably knows how to escape this chain seal.”

Su Ran’s words had barely left his mouth when an unexpected incident occurred before he could take action.

The Thunder Bat that had been bound by chains suddenly fell, landing directly on the Fire Spirit’s head. A burst of flas erupted from the Fire Spirit, engulfing the Thunder Bat entirely.

As the owner of the Thunder Bat, Su Ran was well aware of what his familiar was going through. Its health bar was dropping like water pouring from a faucet. In less than ten seconds, it had been burnt to cinders. Ashes floated softly to the ground.

At this mont, the Fire Spirit opened its eyes. Its gaze was piercing as lightning, scrutinizing the pair below. It no longer looked like it was restrained, emanating an air of profound mystery.

“Is that an Elf I see below?”

The Fire Spirit’s voice was even raspier than Su Ran’s, completely ignoring him while locking its eyes solely on Qing Qi.

“Yes, and this is my companion, Spilt Water Can’t Be Regained, a Human Race mage.”

Qing Qi exhibited the utmost respect. This might be a chance encounter with a rare opportunity, and she absolutely couldn’t afford to offend this Fire Spirit.

anwhile, Su Ran rolled his eyes in disbelief. Even tied up like a dumpling, this Fire Spirit still acted so high and mighty. What, did he owe it money or sothing?

“Outrageous!”

The Fire Spirit burst into a fury, flas igniting fiercely around its body as it bellowed, “A noble Elf like yourself—how could you consort with such lowly humans?”

“Lowly humans?”

It was Qing Qi’s first ti hearing such a term. She froze up, completely at a loss for how to respond to this NPC.

“And what’s wrong with teaming up with ? Did I offend you or sothing? No wonder you’re chained up here—your foul mouth is the problem!”

Su Ran couldn’t hold back anymore. Jumping ahead of Qing Qi, he retorted angrily, “Noble Elf blood, huh? No wonder you haven’t been turned into dried seaweed yet!”

“You!”

The Fire Spirit was so enraged it almost choked. The flas around it flared up again, even igniting its own eyebrows in the process.

Su Ran couldn’t help worrying—was this guy going to burn off all his body hair? That’d seriously be awkward.

“Overturning Water, don’t be rash. This could be a special questline. If you anger the NPC, we’ll get nothing out of it!”

Qing Qi panicked and whispered urgently. She never would’ve imagined Su Ran would have the guts to go head-to-head with an NPC. It was beyond reckless!

“The chest’s already mine. What do I have to worry about?”

Su Ran cast Qing Qi a reassuring glance—whether or not she got it was another matter entirely. Straightening his spine, he yelled out, “What do you an, ‘lowly’? We just t! I’ve never hard you or anyone, so you’d better explain yourself right now!”

“You sharp-tongued human! Since you’re so curious, let spell it out for you! I’ve been sealed up here for years because of your kind! Deceivers! Utterly shaless!”

Incensed, the Fire Spirit sneered as its flas roared higher into the air, falling like fireworks before vanishing.

“Hey, are you dense? If so ancient humans betrayed you, how’s that got anything to do with ?”

Su Ran felt an overwhelming urge to slap this guy. That stubborn attitude had pushed his temper into full swing.

“You… make a good point.”

Unexpectedly, the Fire Spirit didn’t erupt. Retracting its flas, it looked Su Ran up and down with a serious expression, saying, “Human, I may have been a bit rash earlier. Pardon my conduct.”

“This NPC finally sees sense. If it kept being this stubborn, let’s see who’d bother saving it!”

Su Ran mumbled under his breath, almost making Qing Qi laugh out loud.

“Elf, human, I have a request. If you can free , I shall reward you handsoly!”

At last, the Fire Spirit returned the conversation to the main issue, its tone no longer domineering and even its volu softened considerably.

“Of course, senior, I’ll help right away—”

Qing Qi was quick to offer assistance, but before she could finish, Su Ran cut her off.

“What kind of reward? Be specific.”

Su Ran wasn’t about to let so NPC trick them. He waited for a definitive answer.

“Behind , there are three golden treasure chests. You may freely choose one, but let warn you—only one contains a treasure. The other two… are traps.”

The Fire Spirit glanced back as it continued, “Your luck will decide whether you gain the prize or fall into the snares. Wait, what the hell—who the fuck stole my treasure chests?!”
