The lunch spread slled faintly of herbs and simred vegetables, the portions small but varied enough to give Min-jae a choice.
His hands hovered above the dishes, tense, as if even picking up a spoon might betray his stomach.
"...Babies, I’m starving, so let eat." he muttered, voice low and clipped, leaning forward like he might dive in.
ical’s hand rested lightly on his shoulder. "Slow down, Darling. I know you’re hungry, but one wrong bite and breakfast will replay itself."
Min-jae scowled, brushing the hand away half-heartedly. "...I can’t wait that long. I’m starving."
ical didn’t move back, just let his fingers linger, steadying him. "...And I want to make sure you don’t regret it later. That’s my job." His tone was soft, teasing, but there was an edge of seriousness in the words.
Min-jae exhaled through his nose, tension creeping from his shoulders into his hands. "...Fine. Just... don’t hover . It’s annoying.."
ical’s grin was faint but knowing. "...I won’t hover. I’ll just... observe carefully.."
Yura stood nearby, holding the tonic, her eyes scanning Min-jae as he picked up the first spoonful of broth.
She nodded slightly when he swallowed it without grimacing, maybe the tonic worked post nausea too.
ical’s fingers brushed along Min-jae’s arm, subtle, grounding.
"Is it safe?"
"Yes" Min-jae muttered. "...I feel fine."
ical’s eyes sparkled. "Noted." His thumb traced a small circle on Min-jae’s hand, a quiet rhythm ant to reassure without intruding. "And after this... the next bite is yours to decide. I won’t interfere."
Min-jae huffed, cheeks warm, but there was a small tug of relief in the gesture. "...I hate how attentive you are sotis."
"And yet," ical said softly, leaning closer, "you trust to be."
Min-jae tried not to smile, instead turning his attention to a small portion of vegetables. He tasted them carefully, eyes flicking to ical when a subtle wave of nausea threatened.
"You don’t have to pretend you’re okay," ical murmured. "If you need to stop... you can."
"I’m fine..." Min-jae said, voice tight. "...I want to eat."
Min-jae reached for a small bowl of rice, eyeing it carefully before tasting. The mont the warm grains touched his tongue, his eyes widened slightly.
"...Huh." He lifted another spoonful and tried it again, slower this ti, just to be sure. A small smile tugged at his lips. "...This... this is fine."
Relief washed over him, and for the first ti in what felt like hours, he let go of the careful hesitation that had governed breakfast. He dug in properly, savoring each bite, the tension in his shoulders easing.
He sighed happily, a small, content sound that filled the quiet room. Eating carefully had been a pain, but finally... he could eat without worry.
ical watched him closely, hiding a grin behind his hand at first. But when Min-jae’s pace picked up and he saw his husband devour the rice with gusto, he chuckled softly, shaking his head.
"It seems you like this one. Do you want more? It’s a small bowl, since we we’re trying to determine what you liked.."
Min-jae nodded, the rice resembled fried rice and had little chunks of at in it.
It was well seasoned and he actually found himself enjoying it.
Yura smiled and placed the bottle down.
They didn’t need her presence here anymore, her brother had found sothing he could eat without throwing up.
She’d notify madam Greya to add more rice dish to the nu.
After finishing the bowl, Min-jae finally rembered ical presence.
"Everyti we eat, you always stare at . Why aren’t you eating?"
ical chuckled, he found it more interesting to watch him than eat.
"I’ll eat if you feed .."
-_-
Min-jae sighed, he would have said no in a flash but he hadn’t seen ical eat, all he did was sit there and watch him eat.
Even if he was the male lead, didn’t he need food.
"Okay, but next ti you have to eat and not watch eat. You also need food."
ical nodded, and leaned closer so Min-jae wouldn’t have to stretch too much.
"Alright, do you want to eat the rice with ? It’s delicious, you should try it.."
A maid ca in, holding a tray with a bigger bowl of rice on it.
"An extra serving of rice, Mada. Please enjoy your al.."
Min-jae thanked her the proceeded to scoop a spoon full, he blew on it gently before bringing it to ical’s lips.
"Here. Try it."
ical leaned forward obediently, letting Min-jae feed him, the warmth of his hand brushing Min-jae’s as he guided the spoon to his mouth.
"Mmm... perfect. I can see why you like it." he murmured between bites, eyes flicking to Min-jae with quiet amusent.
He also picked up a spoon so he could eat with Min-jae.
Min-jae rolled his eyes but watched him carefully, making sure he didn’t go overboard. "You better not eat too fast. So you don’t choke.."
"I’m an Alpha.." ical said with mock seriousness. "...I can handle it."
-_-
Min-jae sighed, this was the most ridiculous thing he had heard all day.
Being an alpha wouldn’t stop him from choking.
Min-jae snorted and shook his head, cheeks still warm, as he took another spoonful for himself. ical mirrored him, chewing slowly, savoring the food while keeping a faint, approving smile on his face.
There was sothing satisfying in watching Min-jae eat freely, without hesitation, and ical seed to know exactly how to make the mont comfortable.
"It’s delicious right? It’s nice to eat without the fear of nausea.."
ical smiled as he pushed the glass of water closer to Min-jae.
"I know. That’s why I watch..so you don’t have to worry. I will make sure to remove every food that cause you discomfort.."
Min-jae’s hand hovered for a mont before relaxing into ical’s, a quiet acknowledgent. "...I appreciate that, even if I complain."
"Of course you do.." ical replied softly, lowering his spoon. "...And I appreciate you, my Darling. Every careful bite, every small victory. You make ... proud."
