The Great Clan Chief watched as the large door before him slowly swung open, and as the path ahead ignited with a chain of flas, he saw at the end of the grand hall an imposing figure sitting on a specially made long bench. A redwood desk was set before him, graced with the fresh crimson light of candles, and dishes of fully-cooked food were laid upon silver and golden platters.
Although it had been thousands of years since they had last t, a single glance revealed that familiar face.
He took a deep breath.
The spine that was once hunched straightened up like a javelin in an instant.
The staff in his hand was set aside by the Great Elder.
He strode forward, coming to the table, facing his junior brother. The atmosphere imdiately grew tense, the sound of candles burning atop the Coiled Dragon Pillars being unusually clear in such a setting. The Great Clan Chief's gaze turned sharp, just as he was about to speak, he saw Tajadon in front of him gently putting down his long chopsticks, his Adam's apple moving as he swallowed a chunk of well-seared at.
"Brother, it's been a long ti since we last t, I did not expect you to have aged so much."
A smile appeared on Tajadon's face as he surveyed the Great Clan Chief's gaunt figure, then with a gesture he said, "Sit."
Although Tajadon's deanor could be described as very polite, the Great Clan Chief naturally understood that by heeding the other's instruction, he was at a disadvantage even before the negotiations had begun.
But now Henos was in the hands of the enemy, which ant he had inadvertently given them leverage over him.
The Great Clan Chief had no good options; he could only take things one step at a ti.
He paused briefly, then sat down in front of Tajadon.
Seeing him comply, a cruel smile appeared on Tajadon's fierce face, its sinister intent even more evident under the red candlelight. He gestured toward the delicacies laid upon the table, "Knowing the brother was coming, I was truly delighted. These are so fine foods I have carefully prepared, I hope you enjoy them, please."
The Great Clan Chief had no appetite to taste any food, but there Tajadon was, arms akimbo, sitting mightily in front of him.
A mountain-like towering figure, from which the sa dignity rose.
Like a twisting shadow, it enveloped the Great Clan Chief.
Listened to the explosions outside, the screams, and the roar of the Planet Engine... The usually serene mind of the Great Clan Chief slowly began to grow agitated.
He picked up the long chopsticks beside him, his eyes trailed over the translucent and almost see-through thin slices of at on the tray before him. The at looked like so sort of rare fish sashimi, the only oddity being the strange pattern of the muscle fibers. The Great Clan Chief didn't ponder too much, gently picking up a slice and brought it close to his mouth.
Tajadon suddenly said, "The flavor is even better with soy sauce."
He tapped gently on the table in front of him, and amidst the rustling, a stack of blood-colored soy sauce was pushed in front of the Great Clan Chief.
Facing the Great Clan Chief's puzzled look, Tajadon added, "Such a rare delicacy, it might be the only portion across the whole starry ocean. It would be a sha to waste it."
"Am I supposed to thank you for this?" retorted the Great Clan Chief with a cold snort.
Yet he did as Tajadon suggested, dipping the thin slice of at lightly into the soy sauce before placing it in his mouth.
Tajadon's face revealed a satisfied smile, "How's the taste?"
"Passable."
"That won't do," Tajadon shook his head, "You need to be more specific, tell exactly what it tastes like."
Anger was barely concealed on the Great Clan Chief's face, but he replied tersely, "The outer layer of fat lts in the mouth, with the inner muscle being chewy and nearly devoid of any gay taste, it's fairly good."
"Is that so?" Tajadon said before pushing forward, "Then try this one."
A stack of mountain-shaped ice sculptures appeared before the Great Clan Chief, with pieces of at that had been blanched in chili oil resting on the frosty ice cubes. They looked like finely cut pieces of organ ats, reminiscent of beef tripe and pork intestines, with the chili oil gently seeping out. anwhile, the ice sculpture below perfectly preserved the freshness within.
The Great Clan Chief picked up a small piece with his chopsticks and tasted it. This ti he rely frowned slightly, swallowing the food without further comntary on its taste.
"I didn't co here to share a al with you. Tell , where is Henos?"
The Great Clan Chief locked eyes with Tajadon, "I know what you want, give Henos, and I will leave this world imdiately, otherwise, we can go all out in a life-and-death struggle. Even if you erge victorious in the end, your losses will be severe, and years of hard-earned progress will go up in flas."
Facing the Great Clan Chief's threat, Tajadon shook his head in apparent disappointnt. He busied himself with picking up a few slices of at to his mouth, then followed it with blood-red wine.
"It's unimaginable that after all these years, your impression of is still so poor," said Tajadon as he put down his wine glass and gently shook his head, then suddenly laughed.
"Betrayal of our school, the murder of our teacher, severing the last hope of humanity's revival, burning hundreds to a thousand colonies over thousands of years, slaughtering billions for your own selfish gains. Your kind of villainy is unprecedented, and your sins demand a universal condemnation. How could I ever hold a good impression of you..."
The Great Clan Chief's features were cold, his eyes sharp as unsheathed swords.
Unperturbed by the ferocity in the Great Clan Chief's eyes, Tajadon spoke calmly, "Brother, you are mistaken. I do not deny these accusations you have against , but all my actions stem from the justice I uphold. If the birth of the rules was for exploitation, then chaos undoubtedly represents justice."
