BOOM—!!!

As the light-spear ford from the Mysterious Spear collided with Kaido’s Bolo Breath.

A roar greater than a volcanic eruption echoed, audible across Onigashima below and neighboring Wano.

A vast firework—gold foremost, orange-red second—blossod above the sky that had gathered clouds after the Conqueror’s-coated clash.

The photothermal blast and the breath’s heat spread like ink falling into clear water.

What had gathered as stormclouds over Onigashima quickly ate into the white around them, and in a blink expanded to cover the sky above Wano.

A sun-blotting mantle of cloud shrouded the great island and the small.

Gold lightning-serpents and fire boiled within the cloudbank, making the people and samurai of Wano stare wide-eyed.

Even the Tobiroppo and the All-Stars on duty in Wano and on Onigashima wore shock across their faces—power that, if it fell upon the island, would crush half of it, perhaps most of it.

A top-tier battle?!

The terror and awe of the Beasts Pirates on Onigashima and of everyone in Wano were unknown to Karl and Kaido.

The light-spear tore through part of the breath, then triggered the light inside the Mysterious Spear midway.

Its imnse photothermal force drank in the breath’s heat, blooming into a golden halo in the high air—a touch of which would grievously wound, even kill, a Supernova.

The halo carried not only all-consuming heat, but Armant Haki and a shockwave from the blast.

Heat that could one-shot a Supernova ant little to Karl and Kaido.

Yet even they were knocked back a distance by the golden ring born of the shockwave.

Karl fared better; knowing the spear’s power, he had preemptively elentized before the ring appeared.

The ring rely flung a giant bolt of lightning away.

A few blinks and Karl could return to position.

Kaido, by contrast... now illustrated why Logias are called the strongest class.

The golden ring struck him, and his hundreds-ter azure body tumbled like a flung serpent, rolling through the air for hundreds of ters.

A hint of pain crossed the dragon’s face.

Clearly even his astounding defense had been hurt by the ring’s shockwave, which pierced the body and wrecked within.

This is the advantage of elentization—and the lack of it.

For Karl and Kizaru, no matter how strong the move—even a bomb-rock to the face—so long as they elentize early, they are unscathed.

For other non-Logia users, and even many Devil Fruit users, against such attacks—save for a rare few—either you tank it with sheer might, or you die.

Still, not taking the golden ring head-on, Kaido did not howl like in the tale when Momonosuke bit him; the shockwave’s force wasn’t quite enough.

So...

Karl summoned the auto-returning Mysterious Spear again and used Life Return to charge it in an instant.

But this ti, he didn’t throw it.

Zwoosh, zwoosh, zwoosh—

As the golden halo faded, Karl spread an electric field and blinked again and again, running down the still-tumbling Kaido.

Clang—riip!

The light-charged tip of the Mysterious Spear scraped across Kaido’s draconic body.

A tallic report rang from the point of the spear.

In Azure Dragon form, Kaido had lost human and hybrid nimbleness, but his defense had grown to its peak.

Even Karl’s light-laden spear could not break that guard without detonating the light within.

Karl was ready for that.

So...

A heartbeat after that tallic note, he wrapped the spear in peak Armant Haki and dragged the tip downward.

Cloth-tearing sound split the air.

A wound—tiny against a body hundreds of ters long—opened upon the azure dragon.

"Roooar... you little wretch!"

A tearing pain he hadn’t felt in years, and Kaido roared in fury.

For a dragon, a roar is a weapon.

A savage air-blast howled from his jaws like a shockwave and swallowed Karl.

Zzzzz...

Current flickered around the rushing air.

Rrrrumble...

Drawn as if by that charge, the cloudbank overhead let out a drumroll of thunder.

Karl elentized in advance and let the dragon’s bellow carry him beneath the clouds.

He had planned to hurl the Mysterious Spear down in that instant.

Hearing the thunder above, Karl paused, then looked down at Kaido spiraling his coils to raise calamity tornadoes again, and grinned: "Senior Kaido, thanks for the help!"

Before Kaido could make sense of that, Karl pitched the Mysterious Spear downward.

At the sa mont, Kaido snapped his tail and flung up ruin-tornadoes—not the earlier controlling whirlwinds, but spiraling wind-blades that can slice earth and mountains to powder.

Less "tornado" than colossal spiral blades.

Swish—BOOM!!!

The Mysterious Spear t the ruin spiral in midair.

With a detonation heard across both islands, a vast golden ring spread again in the heights.

Unlike before, this ti it spread up and down.

And this ring carried more than photothermal blast and shockwave—there was a terrifying gale within.

A re brush sent Karl flying into the lightning-churned cloud sea.

Kaido’s massive coil also fell toward the ocean below.

As the golden ring bridged sky and sea,

a monstrous storm heaved up twin tsunamis and sent them roaring toward Wano and Onigashima.

Just before he struck the water, Kaido used fla-clouds to regain his balance.

Then, lifting his gaze, he paused.

A vast black sphere had appeared within the clouds at so unknown mont, glittering with lightning like ball lightning.

If Enel were alive, he would recognize that black sphere as the secret art he once pictured while forging the Ark Maxim.

Its na—Raigō.
