Chapter 610: Information about the Red Earl!
Even after the massive star faded, the ground still breathed heat, as if the land itself had been roasted.
"The Dragon Hunter Pirates... every one of you is terrifying," Magellan’s scattered poison finally flowed back together, gathering into a man shaped silhouette at the center of the scorched field. "But I still don’t want to beco your enemy. How about you let leave?"
He sounded calm, but anyone with eyes could see how close he had co to dying.
Magellan might have been classified as a Paracia, but the Venom Venom Fruit was a freak among freaks. Once awakened, it behaved like sothing halfway between Paracia and Logia. The poison could spread, disperse, and reform. When Feitan’s attack ca down, Magellan had turned into poison and scattered the instant he was hit.
Even so, he had almost been erased.
A wide range killing move like that star was not a joke.
"I didn’t expect you to survive," Feitan said, voice flat. "That makes it more fun."
He did not waste ti with threats. He moved straight to the second technique.
"Water, Cold Current..."
A chilling tide rolled off his body. The air snapped. Even Feitan’s clothes took on an icy blue sheen, as if frost had dyed them. It was rare for him to use more than two abilities on the sa opponent.
But Magellan had pushed him to that line.
"Feitan, what’s going on here?"
Ryuunosuke arrived mid sentence, stepping into the field as if he had been strolling through a market street. He felt the cold pressing down and glanced around, slightly surprised. It was the first ti he had ever seen Feitan in this state.
"Feitan used the star, and Magellan took it head on," Shizuku said seriously. "Now he’s switching to the cold wave."
She paused, eyes flicking to Magellan’s struggling form.
"And... if we don’t stop him, Magellan will probably die."
As the cold spread, even the venom Magellan had released turned into black icy mist. It drifted down slowly, falling like poisonous snow.
"Were you restrained?" Magellan’s face twisted. "This ability is even more annoying than Kuzan’s."
He clenched his teeth.
"But I can’t die here yet."
A powerful aura burst out of him as he prepared to force his way out of Feitan’s range and escape this place.
Then a hand landed on his shoulder.
"Mr. Magellan, stay for now," Ryuunosuke said. "I’ve got questions for you."
With his other hand, Ryuunosuke casually neutralized Feitan’s cold wave.
"Captain," Feitan said at once, pulling back his Nen.
"I’ll handle this," Ryuunosuke replied, tone light. "You rest for a bit. If you really need sowhere to vent, go find those samurai."
He smiled.
"Or Orochi’s people will do."
"Understood, Captain," Feitan answered imdiately. "Since you want him, I won’t attack him again."
Compared to venting his anger, the captain’s business mattered more.
"Good. I’ll line you up a fight later." Ryuunosuke looked Feitan up and down with a joking expression. "Go change your clothes too."
It was almost a tradition at this point. Whenever Feitan used his powers, his outfit suffered a heroic sacrifice.
"Understood, Captain."
Feitan nodded and vanished.
When he reappeared a mont later, he had already changed. The speed was impressive, almost as fast as the rate his clothes used to disappear.
Magellan watched all of this, throat tight. Then he spoke quickly, aiming for the only opening he could find.
"Captain Ryuunosuke, we shouldn’t have any entanglent, right? Earlier conflicts were only because we stood on different sides. I haven’t attacked the Dragon Hunter Pirates, and I haven’t even moved against the Straw Hat crew."
Ryuunosuke’s gaze stayed calm.
"I’ll put your deal with Orochi aside for now," he said. "Otherwise, Orochi wouldn’t have been able to leave so easily."
"You’ve already found Orochi?" Magellan’s eyes widened slightly, then he forced it down. "That makes sense. With your Observation Haki, finding soone isn’t hard."
He hurried on.
"But my cooperation with him won’t really affect the Dragon Hunter Pirates. Even..."
"I don’t care about that," Ryuunosuke cut in.
Magellan froze, confused.
He had assud he was being cornered because of Orochi. But Ryuunosuke was making it clear that this was not about Orochi at all.
Outside of this, Magellan and the Dragon Hunter Pirates had no real connection.
Ryuunosuke’s voice turned direct.
"I want to know sothing. Back then, was there a special prisoner in Impel Down? Soone called the Immortal Pirate."
Magellan went silent.
Because the na Ryuunosuke asked about belonged to a sealed category inside Impel Down. Even when Magellan had been warden, he had not been allowed to know much.
"The Immortal Pirate... the Red Earl?" Magellan finally said.
That na carried weight like a chain of sea stone.
A legendary pirate on the level of Whitebeard and Shiki. And more terrifying than them in one particular way.
Immortality.
The Red Earl possessed a Mythical Zoan, the Bat Bat Fruit, Vampire Form. By drinking blood, he could restore his youth and strength. How he had been captured and imprisoned was still a mystery on the sea.
So even claid he had allowed himself to be arrested.
It was said that even when Garp and Roger joined hands, they still could not defeat the Red Earl.
"It looks like he really exists," Ryuunosuke said, eyes narrowing with interest. "Then let’s trade information. Where is he now?"
He had asked on a whim, chasing a legend.
Instead, the legend answered back.
If the Red Earl was real, then he might have been among the earliest to encounter Devil Fruits, and perhaps the first to brush against the Guardians. He could even know sothing about the Seed of God.
And Ryuunosuke was searching for the remaining information on Laugh Tale to locate the Seed of God.
"I don’t know," Magellan said honestly. "I left Impel Down after it sank. I didn’t have ti to search for every prisoner inside."
He took a breath and continued.
"And Impel Down was in the Calm Belt. It’s possible he died at sea. Seawater and sea stone cuffs together are enough to take anyone’s life."
Magellan’s knowledge, in truth, was mostly the sa as the rumors the sea whispered. It had been the World Governnt that had acted to imprison the Red Earl in the first place, and even Magellan had only been allowed to know so much.
