Chapter 507: Big Mom Arrives in the Land of Giants
It had not been Ryuunosuke himself who boarded the Thousand Sunny, but one of his clones.
After helping Luffy sort out his feelings, the clone simply vanished into thin air.
"Luffy," Nami called out a mont later, stepping onto the deck with a thick stack of sea charts in her arms, "are we going to Wano now, or are we heading for Laugh Tale?"
"Robin just explained the sailing route to . I think I can find one of the routes that leads to Laugh Tale."
On their journey so far, every ti the Straw Hats defeated an enemy, Nami’s first instinct was to raid their ship’s charts.
She would then rge those sea charts with her own knowledge of the sea and redraw them.
Everyone who draws a map has a different understanding of currents, wind and landmarks.
Which ans everyone’s charts are different.
What Nami wanted was a set of sea charts that fully reflected her own way of reading the ocean.
Through constant accumulation and revision, she had built up a thick stack of her own charts.
After combining all of that with the information Robin gave her from the Poneglyphs, Nami had finally pieced together the location of one of the "final islands" that could be called Laugh Tale.
Since Luffy was so desperate to beco Pirate King, it made sense to her to set aside their previous plan to head for Wano.
After all, the Laugh Tale route and the course to Wano were not the sa.
"No," Luffy replied without hesitation. "Forget it."
"Let’s go to Wano first."
"Big brother is right. I want to beco Pirate King, not just so tool whose only goal is to reach a place called Laugh Tale."
His expression was relaxed now, his smile light and sincere.
Seeing that smile, and hearing that answer, Nami understood.
Luffy had really let it go.
"Yeah. Then Wano it is," she said, nodding firmly.
She went straight to find Franky and told him to keep the Sunny on the current course.
Luffy walked to the bow alone and sat down, staring out at the endless sea ahead.
"Looks like the captain has grown up a bit," Zoro muttered, glancing over before tipping back a bottle and taking a long drink.
Sanji, anwhile, had already gone to fulfill his promise.
He had told Luffy he would cook whatever he wanted that night.
He even dove straight into the sea himself to catch fresh fish for Luffy’s al.
...
At that sa ti, on a massive island deep in the New World.
"Mom, is this the place?"
Perospero stared at the enormous port before them, where gigantic ships were moored.
They looked crude and rough in construction, but their size was absurd.
Anyone who could build and sail ships like these would have to be a true monster.
"This is it," Charlotte Linlin said. "We are going ashore."
She no longer looked like the bloated matriarch who had terrorized Totto Land for decades.
Instead, she had regained the hot, powerful body and beautiful face she had possessed in her youth.
If they had not watched the change happen with their own eyes, even her own sons would have struggled to recognize this woman as their mother.
The life essence Ryuunosuke had given her and Kaido had restored her vitality.
After bearing so many children at such an advanced age, it was only natural that her body shape had warped and her aging had accelerated.
She had been old for a long ti.
Now, with the essence forcing her cells to divide and renew at an accelerated rate, her body had been dragged back to its pri.
No one should have been surprised.
Most of her children were handso or beautiful when born.
The ones with strange or monstrous appearances had largely turned out that way because Charlotte Linlin wanted a "world of wonders" in her own family.
When they reached the island itself, enormous stone steps greeted them, carved into the landscape.
Each step was several ters tall.
"Is this the real land of giants Mama talked about?" one of the crew muttered, looking up in awe.
The Big Mom Pirates were no strangers to giants.
They had fought and traded with giants before.
But these steps were still excessive even by those standards.
Soon, they reached an area that looked like an enormous dock.
The ground here was relatively flat.
"Who goes there?"
A booming voice rolled over them without warning.
The sound alone was so loud that the ears of Big Mom’s children throbbed in pain.
That was not sothing that happened easily.
Every one of them here was strong and accustod to battle.
If a voice could almost injure them, the owner was no joke.
More frightening still, they still had not seen anybody.
"Boom, boom, boom..."
As they stared forward, the low slope in front of them suddenly began to move.
A shadow fell over the entire group.
The "slope" rose up.
It was not a hill.
It was a giant.
Once it stood to its full height, it towered over one hundred ters tall.
This was far beyond the size of ordinary giants.
Even a tall woman like Big Mom herself would look like a toy in front of him.
Charlotte Linlin was not even ten ters tall.
"I am Charlotte Linlin," she declared, staring up at the colossus.
"Captain of the Big Mom Pirates."
"I have co to et your leader."
There was no fear in her eyes at the sight of a hundred ter giant.
If anything, there was faint excitent.
She had co here precisely to find the true giants.
Even the warriors of Elbaf, renowned as the greatest of giant fighters, were only a few dozen ters tall.
Compared to the thing in front of her, they were like children.
She had also seen the massive form of San Juan Wolf of the Blackbeard Pirates, who stood at around one hundred eighty ters.
So this scene was impressive, but not enough to truly shock her.
"To et our leader, is it?"
"Then let , Kafno, test whether you have that right."
"If you co to the Kingdom of Giants with no strength to speak of, that is an insult to us."
As Kafno spoke, his imnse hand ca crashing down toward them.
The pressure alone whipped up a violent gust of wind before his palm even arrived.
"Mother!"
"Should we fight back?"
"Candy Wall..."
For a mont, the Big Mom Pirates were shaken.
Facing a monster of this size would stir fear in anyone.
But Charlotte Linlin did not move.
"Test us?" she said, grinning. "You are very courteous."
"In that case, we will do this the giant way and see if we asure up."
A terrifying force erupted from her body.
She reached out into the air and grabbed sothing invisible.
A human soul appeared in her grasp.
"This ti I am not using soone else’s lifespan," she said calmly. "I am using my own."
She let out a low shout and swallowed the lifespan she held.
Her three types of Haki erupted together and surged straight toward Kafno’s descending arm.
"Bang!"
To Kafno’s disbelief, his enormous body was flung backward.
He had just been swatted away by a human barely one tenth his height.
Charlotte Linlin did not stop there.
She pressed forward, her fist trailing power, clearly not intending to end the battle yet.
Her next blow ca crashing down with terrifying force.
Kafno tried to dodge and realized that he could not.
Am I going to die here?
"Boom!"
A pitch black staff suddenly swung in from the side.
Its wielder drove it straight into her path, intercepting the punch.
Two overwhelming forces collided in midair.
The giant who held the staff was blasted back from the impact, skidding away, but he blocked her attack.
"I believe I have proved that I am qualified to et your leader, do you not agree?"
Charlotte Linlin did not budge.
Standing amid that swirling storm of power, Haki crackling around her, she seed less like a pirate and more like a god who had descended into the land of giants.
