Hack kept exploding.
The whole world seed to have changed.
At that mont, the sun no longer shone as brightly.
The sky no longer looked so beautiful.
The clouds seed to darken.
The plants appeared to wither.
The colors of the world seed to be consud by so kind of black hole.
Everyone felt it — from ordinary people, citizens of Egghead, to the most powerful of all — the dread of that aura made everyone feel its colossal pressure, while it continued to explode in all directions.
Luffy was right in front, staring into those red eyes with his own red eyes. But the eyes on the other side held a tone of pure evil, sothing he hadn’t witnessed since coming to this world.
He never imagined he would get to see this, even after all the destruction and war of recent years in which he had been involved. It was beyond anything.
The eyes glowed with fury as they stared him down.
"That’s... a powerful Haki. It’s stronger... stronger than mine...", Luffy murmured, a glimr of surprise in his expression.
The lightning continued to pass through him. Then, on his lips, a smile began to form as he bared his teeth — a contrast to the force the enemy was exerting against him.
"Hahaha..." Luffy simply began to laugh, and soon his laughter grew louder.
"Hahahahahahahaha!" Soon, he was roaring with laughter.
"I don’t know who you are, you bastard, but I’m really enjoying this!", Luffy murmured, laughing like a madman there, as he was stared at by those red eyes, as if he were already a dead man.
"Hahahahahaha!" His laughter continued to echo in the wind, as he also began to release his Haki — a red Haki clashing against the pitch-black Haki with a purple hue surrounding it. Even though his Haki appeared weaker, the world seed to begin to regain its color, even if still dark.
"Hahahahaha!"
Zoro, Yamato, Ugo, Bepo, Kuma, Hachi, Baby 5, Zoro — all felt a chill from that Haki. But soon, the laughter of their captain began to resound, like red lightning echoing throughout the island, as he released his Haki. Even while losing, he was there, laughing.
"Hahahahaha!"
The citizens of Egghead were all in a corner on the upper island, barely able to breathe due to the pressure. Even Lami couldn’t relieve the pressure on the people, while she herself struggled, gritting her teeth and using her own Conqueror’s Haki to protect them, but the other Haki was greater than anything she had ever seen at sea.
Vegapunk’s own lab was crushed to the ground, along with many around it. Even several mbers of the Dawn Pirates were there, collapsed, unable to withstand the Haki.
"HAHAHAHAHAHA!"
Luffy’s laughter continued to resound for everyone there. Despite the pressure, everyone could hear it. They asked: what was Luffy doing? What did he have to do with this pressure being cast upon them, with such a horrible feeling? While he stood there, laughing like a maniac.
Until Luffy stopped laughing, opening a smile, still trying to stand firm against the Haki of those red eyes.
"It’s been so long since I felt like this...", he said, keeping his smile, as if he had found sothing very interesting, sothing rare.
And he had found one of the best feelings he could experience on his journey across the seas.
"It’s been so long since I felt threatened...", Luffy repeated with his ruffian smile. How long had he been the most powerful, the strongest? There were no more challenges. Not even Blackbeard posed a major obstacle to him, in his view. Marines, Yonkous, the World Governnt, pirates? None of that gave him the feeling of wanting to surpass himself anymore — he could fight any of them.
He had gone to sea not expecting much, and it was only a matter of ti until he found the One Piece.
But now, without really knowing what he was facing, his eyes glead with excitent. The sea was bigger than he thought. And now he could feel... maybe he wasn’t at the top just yet.
Which ant he needed to evolve, because right there in front of him, there was a challenge — a challenge he had never seen before.
"This is so interesting... Tell , who are you, you bastard?", Luffy said, laughing.
In the distance, Zoro was in his fight against Nusjuro, paralyzed by the Haki, but watching each of Luffy’s words, laughing the whole ti in front of soone more powerful, the swordsman couldn’t help but smile.
He himself was afraid, just like his captain. But Luffy didn’t give in to the pressure — and he was closer to the source than any of them. Feeling more pressure than the others, his captain still found it fun to face the enemy.
"How could I give in too?", Zoro wanted to tear the feeling of fear from his heart, seeming to gain the sa fla that his captain was now stoking.
"Now that Imu-sama is here, it’s over!", Nusjuro said in front of Zoro, as his fist began to heal.
"Imu-sama?", Zoro asked, before shaking his head. "Doesn’t matter who it is." He had unshakable faith in his captain.
Suddenly, Nusjuro didn’t even notice when an air slash flew in, cutting his face with blood dripping, catching him by surprise. He looked at Zoro in frustration.
"Hey, how long are you going to keep looking that way? Your fight is with . Don’t worry, whoever’s showing up there seems like a good challenge for the captain to overco," Zoro said, excited.
"You think your captain is going to survive this? Soon all of you will die, even if it’s not her in person. Her power is above everything in this world!", Nusjuro said, as if speaking of a goddess.
Quickly, he saw Zoro attacking as he raised his sword, clashing against the swordsman’s blades.
"Don’t underestimate my captain. He will be the man who rules the seas. And the role of his swordsman is to beco the most powerful blade in the world. So I can’t fall behind either, old man!", Zoro said, resuming his fight.
"Brother...", elsewhere, was what Lucy murmured. She didn’t seem to be as affected by the Haki, and hearing Luffy’s words, she couldn’t help but smile.
"Shishishishishi! I feel that Luffy is really happy... He’s excited!" she murmured. Despite feeling the imnse power of that other Haki, she could sense Luffy’s joy — that joy of battle. Lucy couldn’t help but let that fla swell in her heart too, while the drums of liberation seed more stirred than ever.
"I won’t fall behind either, brother!" she said, before facing her enemy.
A bird rose at that mont, its whole body broken and face bruised, only to receive another smack on the head from a woman next to a hole, sending him back down again. anwhile, Yamato looked at Luffy, a smile forming on her face.
"Luffy..." she murmured.
The main mbers of the Straw Hats were already handling the powers and pressure of that creature relatively well, but the weaker group below the island — Bonney, Hugo, Jinbei, Baby 5 — imdiately felt the pressure, starting to drop to their knees.
"I can’t even move..." said Bonney, as Saturn finally managed to crawl out of the rubble, recovering all his injuries, though he was far more debilitated than at the start of the fight. Had it continued like that, he would’ve died right there.
"You almost managed to kill , I’ll admit that. But now that Imu-sama is here... it’s over!" he said, ready to strike Bonney, and no one could move under that pressure, before a Phoenix appeared from the sky and threw itself onto him, knocking him down.
"What?!" Saturn exclaid, just as Reiju pushed him away from the others under the force of the Haki.
Right after Reiju, two other birds flew behind her, passing by as they headed toward Peter.
"I can’t handle this pressure well..." Nami murmured in her Garuda form, looking toward Luffy, who was laughing happily.
"I thought your husband was crazy... How can he be acting like this?!" Nami comnted, while Luffy seed to enjoy that trendous power that not even she could remain standing under.
They already knew, since the mont Luffy ca face to face with that power, that Reiju had given the order: Usopp and Nami would take care of Peter, while Luffy faced that new being and Reiju assisted in the battle against Saturn — even though Luffy had forbidden her from doing so.
"Hey, isn’t that the Celestial Dragon Luffy brought onto the ship? What’s going on here?" Nami asked, very confused, as she approached to see the blonde in a hybrid Angel form, with four wings, looking directly at Luffy while clashing against his Haki.
"I don’t know... Best to let the captain handle it. We’ll take care of this guy," Usopp said, as they advanced, with the worm quickly rising and beginning to launch multiple attacks that exploded around them.
At the sa ti, in a corner of the island, a robot began to move. At that exact mont, it stood up, starting to head toward the rhythms playing now — they were the drums of Nika — it was following the drums of liberation.
"I’m here to kill you, inferior being," suddenly, a sinister voice ca from the mouth of Luffy’s forr companion as he stared at her. Her voice was still feminine, just like before, but there was a distorted effect, as if she were truly possessed.
’Red eyes.’ Luffy suddenly realized, as his mory took him back to Fish-Man Island, on his third visit, when he asked Mada Sharley to look into the future. He rembered her vision of Luffy’s future... The red eyes she described. That were terrifying. These were the very eyes Luffy was staring into now.
It all made sense.
"You’re the one... or the thing... that sits on the Empty Throne, aren’t you?" Luffy said, without seeming afraid.
anwhile, he felt those eyes intensify directly on him, placing imnse pressure after his words — as if the creature had gotten angry.
"You’ve been bothering us too much, boy..." her voice ca distorted, while Luffy closed his lips for the first ti and sighed.
He was thinking seriously. About sothing he needed to know.
"Let ask you sothing...", he said suddenly. "Are you, by any chance, my mother? And Lucy’s?" he asked simply.
Imdiately, the black lightning stopped, allowing everyone to breathe again as they wondered what had just happened.
Luffy kept staring at the woman, even halting his own Haki.
The woman stared back at him with those piercing red eyes, but said nothing more. It seed there was no anger now, but rather a feeling of confusion.
"Why...? Why are you asking that?" she murmured in a distorted tone.
"Well..." Luffy scratched his head awkwardly, even looking for his hat, which hadn’t been on his head for so ti now.
"Maybe I shouldn’t have asked that... Kinda ruined the mood. It’s just that there are so theories about who our mom could be, and our grandpa never talked about it. But I probably should’ve asked our dad directly... So forget it," Luffy simply said, not realizing the massive confusion he may have just caused.
"You..." the woman murmured, still in disbelief. "You have got to be kidding !" she scread in full fury.
Her voice echoed not just across the island, but throughout the entire sky in the region. Even on other islands, her words were heard. She simply charged at Luffy after grabbing the sacred sword from the ground, while Luffy quickly prepared himself, defending with Ace.
Even so, he clashed against her blade and was sent flying, even without her hybrid transformation — her power was far too great.
He was at a disadvantage.
