"Looks like it’s over..." Jimbei comnted.
"Bring Carrot here, and heal her." Luffy requested as Lami easily teleported her to the location. Luffy also asked for all the CP0 mbers and other defeated enemies to be brought, with Domino placing them in the ship’s prison.
"And now?" Usopp asked, looking at the island, while Chopper treated Carrot with Bepo worried beside her, as Rebecca and Perona returned to the ship.
"Hello." Luffy picked up the den den mushi.
"Monkey D. Luffy." Vegapunk spoke from the other side.
"We just intercepted your first assassination group with Stussy. Can we enter the island without the pacifistas attacking us?" Luffy asked.
"Of course, I’ll activate the system for that." he said.
"One more thing, I want York detained. She’s too dangerous to be there communicating things to the enemy coming here." Luffy said.
"Alright, she’s up there on the island, and I can take you, I’m in the city, pick up here with the other satellites and let’s go." he said.
"Alright," Luffy replied and hung up the den den mushi right after.
"Bepo. Use your fleet and take us to the city." Luffy said as Bepo nodded after Carrot was fine and began to use his power on the ship.
Soon, Black Pearl began to float, rising before finally advancing toward the city.
"Finally we’re going to the egg-looking island!" Lucy exclaid excitedly, as the ship began to enter the island at last.
There were pacifistas near the rocks and they began to identify the ship flying toward the city, and imdiately stopped seeing it as a threat.
Then they were finally above the city, and could see it entirely. The futuristic city was in front of all of them, as curious eyes quickly leaned over the ship’s edges with wonder.
"Ow, this is amazing!" Yamato comnted, gazing in awe at the city.
"People live in glass houses?!" Lucy exclaid, seeing the houses with glass circles like bubbles, full of furniture.
"What are those pipes running through the whole city? Could it be a ans of transportation or sothing?" Usopp asked, looking at a canal built to span the city.
"Incredible!" Chopper said excitedly, with Carrot already well, alongside Bepo, the three of them having stars in their eyes.
"Superrr-amazing!!" Franky also said with stars in his eyes.
"There are so many pacifistas here... and to think the governnt had more of them after sending such a large number to attack us outside Wano..." Reiju comnted as she was about to light a cigarette.
But before she could, Luffy stopped her.
"Hey, what are you doing?" he said seriously to her.
"I just wanted to..." she murmured.
"No smoking on this trip. Didn’t I tell you?" he said in a firm tone.
She just sighed and didn’t argue.
"You’re kind of irresponsible, huh." Lami comnted with a serious look.
"What are you saying, you idiot." Reiju said angrily.
"And no fighting..." Luffy warned both of them as he left the port, letting them keep arguing with each other.
"What a beautiful city!" Luffy paused in a corner next to Uta to see the city too, while Shirahoshi exclaid, hugging Luffy from behind and looking at the city.
"Yeah... this place is really well-made." Luffy comnted, looking at the city.
The ship headed to the island’s main area, a large building releasing smoke to support the upper part, while the ship was seen by the city’s citizens.
They pointed upward, watching the ship flying over the place, while Bepo prepared the ship to land as they arrived, and he began to descend the Black Pearl.
When the ship finally landed, Luffy jumped off and advanced toward the building while many others did the sa, with Franky being the first, full of admiration for the place.
There were at least ten pacifistas at the door as they approached. The door opened as Vegapunk appeared with a sort of blue robot.
"Welco!" he exclaid to Luffy as he approached curiously.
"Hello, Doctor. Looks like it’s the first ti we’ve t." Luffy said with a smile as he walked up and shook the hand of the old man, who looked like a slightly nutty elder, but had the face of a kind person.
"I’ve heard a lot about you and your crew. It’s great that you ca here, and thank you for saving Lulusia. Otherwise, I would have had to live with guilt for the rest of my life." he comnted, after all, there was a fragnt of the MotherFla—sothing he created—used to activate the weapon by the governnt.
"It was nothing, we’re here to help you anyway." Luffy said.
"Yes, yes!" Vegapunk said.
"It’s a pleasure to et you, Vegapunk! I’ve read a lot about your work and apply it through my energy source—cola." Franky began to speak while Vegapunk looked surprised.
"Cola... you use cola as an energy source?" Vegapunk asked, stunned.
"Yes..." Franky said, crying for eting his idol.
"That..." Vegapunk suddenly began seeing countless images in his mind, starting to form ideas for inventions involving cola, beginning to envision a new world while calculating theories and creating equations, thinking about all he could build.
"This is one of the greatest discoveries! Co with , I need to write this down!" he simply ran off, leaving everyone bewildered.
"Sorry about that, he’s like this when he gets a new idea. By the way, I’m part of Vegapunk, satellite 1. My na is Shaka." The blueish robot-looking figure spoke with a kind tone while Luffy looked at him surprised.
"Hello, Monkey D. Luffy." Luffy said.
"It’s a pleasure to et you all, but why don’t we go inside and see what the doctor is planning? We’ll greet everyone inside." Shaka said as everyone nodded.
They soon began to enter while Luffy and various crew mbers disembarked from the ship and followed them, while those who chose to stay or visit the city quickly began doing whatever they wanted, with Luffy granting them freedom.
And so, the group split to explore, rest, or get to know Vegapunk.
The building was a giant laboratory, expanding in front of them as Luffy and the others followed a corridor, guided by Shaka.
They reached a large room where Vegapunk began writing on several boards and papers, using exactly the theory Franky applied in his inventions with cola.
"This is amazing! I can’t wait to start testing!" he said, lifting a paper while analyzing his latest calculations, storing them and turning back to them as if nothing had happened.
"Right, where were we again?" he said, as Luffy, Yamato, Monet, Usopp, Chopper, Franky, Robin, Lami, Lucy, Uta, Bepo, and two people who wished to remain hidden accompanied him, entering the lab.
Lucy looked at one of them at that mont.
"You, I’m surprised you’re here... Enel, are you curious about Vegapunk’s inventions?" Luffy asked.
"They say the brightest mind in the world belongs to this scientist." The one who spoke was none other than the self-proclaid god, Enel. "I wanted to see what a mortal could do."
"Wait... you’re Enel?! The one who ate the Lightning Logia?!" Vegapunk pointed at him with shining eyes.
"Yes..." Enel narrowed his eyes at the old man, tongue out.
"Do you have any idea how much energy you can provide?! You’re practically a walking reactor! Let ask you: have you ever created plasma with your lightning?"
Enel just made a face at that kind of comnt.
"My powers are divine. I need nothing beyond lightning," he replied arrogantly.
Vegapunk didn’t seem to care about the remark. He just began nodding his head, doing calculations about Enel and his fruit, thinking about how it could be beneficial as a limitless source of electrical energy.
Another person behind Enel began to take a few steps forward. Vegapunk, still with his tongue out, looked and was imdiately surprised to recognize the figure with a dark expression.
"Bonney..." he murmured, as the pink-haired girl advanced toward him, ready to throw a punch—before Luffy interfered, stopping her.
"I’m going to ask you not to kill Vegapunk. We need him if we want to help your father," Luffy said as Vegapunk flinched.
"Bonney was a little emotional. But don’t worry, she just wants to save her father, as I promised I’d help. I hope there’s a way to do that, Vegapunk."
"Save Kuma...?" Vegapunk murmured, before looking to the side and opening his eyes wide, as if sensing sothing tragic about to happen.
"Hey! Don’t touch that!" he exclaid at Lucy, who had wandered away from the group exploring the lab and was ssing with things on her own, having found an interesting button.
"Do not press the button" was written above it, while she, simply lowering her gaze, pressed it.
That’s when Vegapunk scread. But it was already too late.
Suddenly, rockets began activating inside the building, being launched out of the city, hitting houses everywhere, exploding, while the other Dawn Pirates—like Nami, Nojiko, Reiju, Vivi, Carrot, Pedro, Perona, Alvida, Rebecca, and Shirahoshi—who were visiting the city, quickly saw the projectiles flying at them from all directions.
They rushed to try to prevent them from hitting anyone or causing damage.
"Who’s launching these things?!" Reiju complained, kicking a rocket that exploded on landing, and she began releasing her flas throughout the city, blasting more and more rockets as so hit buildings. People ran away in fear at that mont.
From the Black Pearl, everyone else was watching as the rockets kept destroying buildings around theirs.
Inside the building, Luffy frowned.
"Lucy, don’t ss with that stuff!"
"Ahh, sorry..." she said, scratching her head with a smile, while Vegapunk sighed at her mischief, visibly shaken, quickly locking all buttons that weren’t key-protected and returning to the group.
"Well... anyway, your sister is a bit energetic," he muttered.
"She is, yeah. She has the will of Joy Boy from the Void Century," Lucy said, laughing.
"What? What do you an by that?" Vegapunk asked, confused.
"I don’t get it."
"She ate the Hito Hito no Mi, Mythical Zoan type, Model: God Nika. The sa fruit Joy Boy used in the Void Century." Luffy explained and continued.
"By the way, you know about the Void Century, right? I’d like to hear about it, since we’re here," Luffy said, as Robin, behind him, quickly took interest.
Vegapunk stood there, stunned. His eyes grew more and more shocked.
"You’re talking about that fruit?!" Vegapunk murmured.
"Yes... Can you explain more about the Void Century?" Luffy repeated.
"Of course, I’m just a bit surprised... and to think the warrior of liberation exists... now I rember... the photo of your sister in the newspaper." he said as Lucy looked curious about that, placing the straw hat on her head.
"Well, how about we go to the top of the island, we can talk better there." he said at the end, and Luffy agreed.
