"We are mobilizing all warships and advancing toward Egghead," the communicator said.
"There’s sothing mysterious on the ship... and Admiral Kizaru is also aboard the fleet."
"Buster Call is ready to be executed."
"Governnt agents are already arriving on the island—it’s CP0 itself."
Various ssages started being transmitted through the den den mushi in front of Luffy, who was sitting in a chair with the transmission capture equipnt. It was all connected, feeding him information.
Everyone was minding their own business as they had already spent two days at sea, throwing banquets and enjoying themselves, while Luffy paused to see how things were going in Egghead and whether they needed to head toward the island.
"Looks like things are getting heated over there..." Jinbei comnted as he approached Luffy.
"We must go as quickly as possible! Is my father there?" Bonney was beside Luffy, listening nervously.
"Not yet, Bonney. But we should start speeding up the ship because CP0 agents are arriving on the island right now," Luffy said in a calm tone.
Despite the urgency, it would be easy for Luffy to get there.
Nami, who was tending to an orange tree she had planted in a corner of the ship, quickly looked toward Luffy, hearing him through her haki.
"Luffy, you need to change course so the ship heads straight to Egghead. I can set the ship, and you can advance using your fruit," Nami said, and Luffy looked at her and nodded.
"Yes... let’s go straight there. We’ll take down the agents and then wait for the Navy and whoever else they’ve sent," Luffy said at the end, still unaware of what had happened to Saint Jaygarcia Saturn, hoping he was lying dead on the cot that appears in the sky once a month.
Luffy turned his attention back to the den den mushi and made another call.
"Hello?" ca the elderly voice.
"Vegapunk," Luffy responded.
"Vegapunk?!" Franky imdiately shouted from sowhere on the ship, excited.
"How are things there?" Luffy asked.
"We’re working normally, but York has already ratted us out and plans to betray us..." Vegapunk said on the other end of the line.
"I see... so you’ve already planned your revelation to the world..." Luffy comnted.
"Yes... if I don’t have much ti left, it’s best that people know." Vegapunk said.
"You really are an idiot, do you actually think you’re going to die? We’re just minutes away, even if we’re still far," Luffy mocked.
"I... Thank you. But if you can keep the governnt from getting their hands on the MotherFla... I’ll die happy. I don’t want any more incidents with them able to reactivate that ancient weapon," Vegapunk said.
"Don’t worry about those things... We’re going to take the island itself. Then the governnt won’t have the MotherFla in their hands..."
Luffy thought he already had, since they had used the ancient weapon against Lulusia.
"No... it’s the energy source that’s still in Egghead. What they used to reactivate the weapon was a fragnt that York herself gave the governnt a month ago," Vegapunk explained while Luffy now understood.
"So you’re saying the governnt needs that in the end?" Luffy grinned mischievously. He had already prepared his own territory to fight Uranus; without the energy source they used, the weapon would ultimately be useless.
Luffy wanted to laugh imagining how the governnt would handle the information that the island had been stolen into territory where even they couldn’t enter.
"Yes." Vegapunk looked strangely as the snail made a confused expression.
"Great, but what do you plan to do with York? She’s your greedy personality..." Luffy said.
"I can’t hurt her, Monkey D. Luffy..." Vegapunk murmured. "She is one of my six satellites, an extension of myself and my greedy side. Eliminating her is like mutilating a part of ..." he said with an emotionally wounded tone.
It shouldn’t have been easy, knowing that his greedy side was leading him to death, but Vegapunk had a good heart in the end.
"I understand... I’ll help you take care of that too. Anyway, we’ll see you there," Luffy said in the end while Vegapunk nodded.
"Alright... I’ll be counting on you," he said.
The den den mushi disconnected after that, and Luffy let out a sigh.
Everyone imdiately looked toward Luffy, hearing that they were about to reach the next island. As he stood up, he caught everyone’s attention.
"Everyone! Get ready for Black Pearl’s super speed!" Luffy announced, looking at Nami.
"Set the ship in the right position, and Jinbei, you’re the helmsman. Keep it steady while I increase the speed."
He spoke as everyone knew the speed would be so high that the ship had to be ready. Once Luffy used his powers, so would have to stay in safe places so as not to be left behind or go flying off, while others didn’t care about the new speed of the ship.
Nami guided the ship and Jinbei kept it steady. Then Luffy began using his fruit. In the next mont, he increased the speed by 200 tis. The ship simply shot forward, and so had to cling tightly to the mast to avoid flying off, like Bepo holding onto Carrot so she wouldn’t fall off the ship.
The ship shot through the waters like a bullet, leaving a water trench that closed a few seconds later, with no sign of the ship left on the horizon.
anwhile, on the shores of Egghead, while the governnt and navy were already advancing there, a small governnt ship was arriving at that mont. Inside it, only three people sat in a room—the three mbers of CP0: Lucci, Kaku, and Stussy—finally arriving aboard the ship.
Lucci looked at his two partners with a serious expression.
"So our mission is simple. Just kill Vegapunk and pave the way for any threats our superiors may have to recover many of his projects," he said. That was their order.
Although he didn’t know much beyond that, like Mother Fla—the energy Vegapunk had created to provide a renewable source for the world—was being used by the World Governnt to activate one of the ancient weapons, which had been used against Lulusia a month ago. All he had to do was complete his mission.
"Shall we begin? After all, we’ve arrived," Stussy said, stretching, while Lucci nodded.
"..." Kaku said nothing but stood up from his chair and adjusted his cap.
"Let’s go," Lucci said, moving toward the ship’s door.
The three stepped out, with a few agents handling the navigation just to get there. The island of Egghead was right in front of them, and their objective was the upper part of the island and wherever Vegapunk might be.
Though the island had a shield above it and they would need to find a way in, that wouldn’t be a problem.
Everything seed in order. Lucci exchanged a few words with undercover governnt agents. He was finally moving ahead of his companions.
"Let’s go!" he said, lowering his knee to the ground, ready to use Geppo. But at that mont, sothing happened behind them. Suddenly, while there was nothing but sea just a mont ago, in a millisecond, a ship larger than theirs appeared, blocking the entire horizon behind them.
"What?!" That alert spread as Lucci and the others looked on in shock, their eyes fixed on the flag above.
The wind twisted, and the sea grew turbulent, rocking the agents’ ship. Lucci opened his eyes, dazed, just like his two companions and the other ordinary agents.
They recognized the flag all too well: the Jolly Roger with a straw hat.
"They’re here..." Lucci said in a grim tone. As if he couldn’t believe what he was seeing—after all, the Straw Hats had appeared as if they’d teleported here.
"Hm?" Zoro jumped onto the prow of the ship, the head of Ifrit forming the front of the Black Pearl and towering above the ship below.
"Hey, Luffy. Aren’t those the guys you captured back in Water 7?" Zoro asked, looking down at them as if they weren’t even enemies. "Wait, those white clothes... Aren’t they the sa as those agents who tried to assassinate you and your sister?"
"Let see!" Lucy exclaid, running to the edge of the ship.
Kuina appeared at the ship’s edge, stretching her neck.
"It’s true... they were from CP9, right?" she asked curiously.
"Wait... they were from the governnt, so they’re our enemies, right, Luffy?" Nojiko asked, standing next to Kuina.
Lucy arrived shortly after.
"They’re from that CP0 Luffy ntioned!" she said, narrowing her eyes at them, not pleased to see the ones responsible for her sister taking a blow in her place while fighting Kaido.
"These are the guys the Governnt sent... They don’t look that strong..." Perona floated in the air with her ghosts, asking arrogantly while eyeing them.
"They are... do you want to handle them, Perona?" Luffy asked as he sat on the deck next to Yamato and Robin, sipping juice and sunbathing in a beach chair wearing sunglasses. He was enjoying the ship’s speed.
"Why should I do that?" Perona murmured, dissatisfied.
"Because I haven’t seen the results of your training. They’re strong—if you show you can handle one of them, it proves you’re strong now," Luffy said, still sipping his juice.
"And I wasn’t before, is that it?!" Perona snapped.
"Co on, co on. Fight one of them. Rebecca, you help her. You too, Carrot," Luffy requested, and the last two nodded. Perona looked grumpy but eventually accepted, summoning her ghosts.
The three agents were frozen by this sudden change of events. Just a mont ago, they were about to carry out their mission, and now the Straw Hats were right there, speaking as if they were nothing—assigning even young girls to fight them just to test their training.
If that wasn’t humiliation, they didn’t know what was.
"This is bad..." Kaku murmured. Despite the situation the Straw Hats had placed them in, there was no doubt they stood little chance.
"What are they doing here...? Right now of all tis?" one of the agents murmured. The governnt didn’t know Luffy had set sail again—much less that they were headed to Egghead.
"Quick, alert our superiors! The Straw Hats are here!" one of the agents exclaid while another desperately searched for a den den mushi.
All the common agents reached for weapons as the three CP0 mbers looked on cautiously, also preparing to fight.
But suddenly, a wave of power swept through—pure red lightning surging over everyone.
All the agents behind the CP0 mbers began to fall to the ground one by one in the next instant, all knocked out, leaving only the three in white still standing.
"We can’t let that happen, can we?" Luffy comnted calmly from his chair, not wanting to reveal his position here on the island.
In the next mont, footsteps began to rush toward the front of the Black Pearl as Rebecca and Carrot ran and leapt off the ship, landing on the smaller vessel with the agents.
Before facing them, Carrot took a fighting stance with her paws clenched into fists, and Rebecca drew her sword, ready to fight.
Lastly, Perona appeared above them, surrounded by ghosts.
