Liam chuckled, but I found it to not contain the amusent it usually contained — or probably the one I was used to hearing.

A sudden jolt sent upright, so loud that the chair scraped behind .

Liam and Maya’s attention turned towards instantly, each having their degree of concern and worry in their eyes.

"What’s wrong?" Maya was the first to ask.

"I just recalled sothing." I answered, then snapped my head towards Liam. "Liam, I’m sorry. But I have sowhere to be and it’s urgent. I’d have to take my leave."

Sothing like disappointnt flashed through his eyes, and my heart twisted while guilt washed over . It wasn’t my fault. I just recalled that I already had an existing appointnt.

"It’s fine. Do you mind if I drive you to your destination?" He offered as he rose to his feet..

I shook my head instinctively, kindly rejecting his offer. "I appreciate it, but I’d love to go alone."

He was silent for a while... perhaps looking for ways to convince . But when he saw the strong resolve in my eyes, he gave in.

"Alright." He said, his voice reflecting his disappointnt. "You can inform once you’ve arrived so I’d know that you’ve arrived safely."

Liam’s deep eyes were on , and I swallowed slightly before nodding.

"Maya..."

She didn’t wait for to complete my statent before she rushed to her feet.

"Good night Liam." She greeted him with a fake smile, and before he could respond, she took my hands and pulled out of the private room.

I shook my head while stifling a laugh. She could even pretend to like him.

Maya stared at pointedly, and my expression turned straight instantly..

"Gosh, I don’t know how I was able to survive in the sa room with him." She complained as we walked away from the calm part of the club into the loud part.

Loud music was blasting, people were moving their bodies to the beat of the sound while so observed.

My brows creased as Maya and I made our way out with great difficulty.

Once we were finally out, relief washed over ..

"Never again." I murmured under my breath, straightening my dress.

"I guess Liam doesn’t really know what you like." Maya snorted, disdain written all over his face.

I couldn’t refute her. People who were close with understood that I didn’t fancy such environnts.

"So..." Maya started, gaining my attention. "Where did you urgently have to be?"

My face hardened as where I had to be flashed through my mind.

"My father’s house." I replied with a straight face.

"What?" Maya whisper--yelled as she looked around. "Your father invited you ho? That’s a first." She comnted, but I shook my head.

"Quite the opposite." I rubbed my forehead while checking through my phone. "We are going there to crash a party."

"We?" Maya pointed at herself before realization dawned on her. She chuckled, clapping her hands excitedly. "That’s my specialty."

"But, hold on a minute. You ntioned a party. What party is that?"

"My father’s birthday party." I answered, packing my hair into a bun. "My mother’s belongings have been used by Elena way too long. I have to retrieve them."

"Do you need a driver?"

Suddenly, I heard a super familiar voice and I snapped my head towards the source.

And there—

I saw Alexander, leaning on the wall with one hand in his pocket while having a dangerous expression on his face. He didn’t look like the CEO everyone knew or was afraid of.

He looked... different. Even completely different from when I saw him a couple of minutes ago..

Hold on second!

Was he eavesdropping on my conversation..

As this thought flashed through my mind, my eyes made contact with him and I shot daggers at him without hesitation. (If they could work with my eyes.)

"If looks could kill, I could be 6ft under." He joked, and pushed himself off the wall.

I was grateful though. Maya didn’t make any comnts this ti. Instead, she silently stood beside .

"Were you eavesdropping on our conversation?" Before I could stop myself, I questioned him.

He tilted his head as he stared at , and I ntally slapped my forehead. I might have made a mistake by asking him.

"It wasn’t exactly eavesdropping." He answered, a smile dancing on his lips. "I was passing by and I heard about crashing a party. You weren’t exactly subtle with your voice." After he finished, he winked at causing to widen my eyes..

I couldn’t see my face, but I knew it was heated up. I took deep and heavy breaths to steady my breathing.

Alexander’s character felt a bit contrasting from the one displayed earlier. It felt like he only wanted to live for himself without worrying about what others would think. It made him look... sexy and hot..

A cough escaped from as such a dangerous thought crossed my mind.

"Are you okay?" Maya imdiately patted my back as she asked , concern flowing in her voice. From the corner of my eyes, I saw a glimpse of fear in Alexander’s eyes, and I sighed.

"I’m fine." My words ca out as a whisper before I finally turned my attention to my boss.

"Mr. Blackwood, I didn’t know you were the type who would be interested in ’crashing a party’. It doesn’t suit your image." I stated, with my lips slowly curved.

Alexander chuckled, his deep low and baritone voice resonating throughout the empty carpark. "Then there’s a lot you don’t know about , Miss. Wilson. How about you get to know more?" He asked with a smirk.

Maya cleared her throat knowingly and I turned to her. She stuck out her tongue in a reply.

"Mr. Blackwood," I began, fiddling with my fingers behind. "I understand that you want to help . But I feel it’s a bit appropriate to drop off at ho."

Alexander’s gaze deepened. "Miss. Wilson, I feel like I’m the best person to drop you off. You won’t be able to get any rides here."

Maya tugged the helm of my shirt as she whispered into my ears. "He is right."

I remained silent not because I had nothing to say. But because I knew they were both right. But I didn’t know if I wanted Alexander Blackwood to drop off at my father’s place.
