That was the first and last statent he heard before the line went dead.
His face turned pale, and Serena suddenly had a bad feeling.
"What’s wrong?" Serena asked, her heart hamring against her chest. Alexander sat up straight. He felt that sothing bad was about to happen.
"I don’t know. She only asked to save her." Cody replied, his mind still a ss.
Serena’s eyes widened as she muttered under her breath. "Oyster."
"Who’s that?" Alexander asked.
"I don’t have ti to explain, but Maya is in danger." She looked at both n. "We need to save her. We need to save my best friend." She pleaded, tears already pooling in her eyes.
Cody shot up to his feet, panting.
"Serena, try to call her. Alexander, I’d be enlisting your troops’ help." He instructed, and Serena nodded amidst tears. "We should also involve the police... discreetly."
"If he dares to hurt Maya, I swear I’d break his legs myself." Cody vowed, his eyes blazing with fury, which was totally different from his normal character.
Serena tried calling Maya’s number, unfortunately, it couldn’t be reached.
"I think we need to go there. She could be in serious danger." She suggested. "She could be in serious danger. Oyster... he... he is dangerous." She stuttered, while whimpering.
Alexander pulled her into his arms. "You don’t have to worry. We will save her and make sure he gets the punishnt he deserves."
Serena nodded. It was tis like these she truly needed Alexander’s anchor.
"Let’s go." Cody said, and without waiting for the two, he weaved his way through the crowd. Alexander held Serena’s hands as they also walked through the crowd.
Miles and Elias watched them leave the hall and they both exchanged glances, the sa question in their eyes.
"Do you know where the three are headed?"
"Where are they rushing to?"
They asked simultaneously, and shook their heads at the sa ti as well.
The two n’s eyes flickered to the entrance and the instincts they had when they were soldiers kicked in.
"They need to be followed. Deploy the n. Have the kids to be followed. I sense danger." Elias comnted as he looked to his right hand man who nodded.
Miles also did the sa, and then said, "do you think we should follow them? I’m worried. Serena is with them." The concern and hesitation were bright in Miles’s eyes as he paced around.
Elias shook his head negatively. "She’s with Alexander. And knowing how protective my grandson is, he won’t let anything happen to her. And if anything does happen, rest assured that I’d be the first to beat him up."
"Are you sure?" Miles asked, breathing out. "I just reunited with my granddaughter. She hasn’t even called grandfather. I don’t want anything to happen to her."
"She will be fine. You also underestimate Serena. She’s strong, and doesn’t back down without a fight." Elias praised Serena.
Listening to his assurance, Miles felt partially relieved. "I’d only fully believe you when my granddaughter returns to ."
Elias was about to reply when he was interrupted by his right hand man. "Old Master, just as you instructed, the n are tailing them. They are headed in the North direction."
Elias’s brows furrowed, but nodded. "Keep an eye on them, and do not let the guests notice their absence. The banquet should be coming to an end soon."
While the two old n were having the three youths followed, Cody was driving crazily along the road that leads to Oyster’s house.
The car sped through the dimly lit road, tires screeching faintly as Cody took a sharp turn. The city lights blurred past them like streaks of fire.
Alexander broke the silence, his voice low, edged with sothing like concern. "Princess... tell about this Oyster."
Serena’s grip on him tightened. Although what she was about to say didn’t happen to her, she felt chills when Maya talked about it. In simple words, she was traumatized.
Serena swallowed hard. Her fingers trembled where they clutched Alexander’s sleeve. For a mont, she didn’t speak up, only staring straight ahead, as if seeing sothing far worse than the road before them.
"He’s dangerous." Serena whispered, shivering. Alexander held her tightly.
Cody’s jaw tightened.
"Maya t him years ago," Serena continued. "She was young, angry, and lost. She wanted to be strong—strong enough that no one could ever hurt her again." Her voice cracked. "And he saw that weakness. He used that weakness against her."
Alexander said nothing. His arms remained firm around her and his expression was unreadable.
"He trained her," Serena said. "He taught her how to fight. How to survive. How to read people. At first, she thought he was saving her." A bitter smile tugged at her lips. "But he was breaking her... slowly. She just didn’t know about it."
Cody’s knuckles turned white against the steering wheel.
"He controlled everything about her life." Serena went on, faster now, as if afraid she’d stop if she slowed down. "What she wore, who she spoke to and where she went. He made her believe she owed him her life. That without him, she was nothing. She was young and naive, and she believed him."
"And when she tried to leave," she whispered, "he punished her. Not just physically." Serena shook her head, tears spilling freely now. "He ssed with her mind. He made her feel small, made her feel worthless. He made her think that she was dirty for wanting freedom."
A dark, dangerous aura emanated from Cody.
"So she ran away one night." Serena continued. "She left everything behind. Changed her number. Changed her life. She thought she was finally free." Her voice dropped to a broken murmur. "But Oyster doesn’t let go of what he thinks belongs to him. He has been threatening her for a while. I should have been there for her. I made a promise."
Her shoulders trembled as Alexander silently consoled her.
Cody let out a sharp breath through his nose. His eyes were cold now. They were dark and... dangerous.
"He grood her," Serena added, her words trembling with suppressed rage. "Turned her into sothing he could use. And when she refused to keep being his weapon... he beca her nightmare."
The car was silent except for the hum of the engine as her words sank into the two n.
Alexander’s expression had darkened, but he still said nothing.
Cody spoke at last. His voice was low and lethal.
"He touched her."
Serena nodded.
"He threatened her."
Serena nodded again.
"He thinks he owns her."
"Yes." Serena answered, her eyes red.
The air inside the car shifted into sothing heavy and suffocating.
Cody’s lips curled into sothing terrifying. "Then he’s already dead. He just doesn’t know it yet."
