Serena’s POV

"What?" I scread. "No way! You can drop off at Maya’s. I’m not going ho with you."

I scread. What did he an by going ho with him? There was no way I’d let that happen.

Alexander turned to with a dark look in his eyes and I swallowed. But I couldn’t back down easily. I had to stand my ground.

"Honestly, I’m grateful that you saved tonight. I really am. But that doesn’t an I need to be at your place. You can just drop off at Maya’s. I’m sure she’d be happy to see ." I said all of these in a single breath.

Alexander didn’t respond to . Instead, he continued driving. I thought he gave in to , and I heaved a sigh of relief.

My eyes brightened as Maya’s apartnt complex ca into view. "You can drop off here." I said to him, and once again, I was ignored.

My eyes dulled as I watched him drive past the complex. I turned to him once again, blinking.

"We... we just passed by Maya’s complex." I pointed out with a low voice.

"I know," ca his clipped reply.

"Mr. Blackwood, I can’t go with you." I tried to convince him. What would people think if they found out about it. I’m pretty sure I’d be eaten in and out.

"Serena, I’d advise you stop arguing with over this matter. You are coming with , and that’s final!"

I kept shut instantly. I couldn’t argue with him. Alexander was dead serious about taking to his place.

I exhaled, and looked out the window and my eyes softened. I didn’t realize it was drizzling.

Silence fell between us, the only sound remaining was the drops of rain against the car’s window.

"I don’t want you to be targeted anymore."

My lips parted slightly but I couldn’t utter any words. Was he telling the truth?

"I don’t want to see you hurt." I could hear cracking of knuckles and I saw his grip on the wheel had tightened so hard his veins were popping out.

I remained silent. I couldn’t do anything. Alexander was serious about taking to his place.

A few minutes later, the car pulled to a stop at a black gate. I looked out the window, and my jaw dropped.

"You live here?" I unconsciously blurted out before I could help myself.

Hearing the deep chuckle beside , my cheeks got heated.

"I live here, Princess."

The heat on my cheeks spread to my ears and I cleared my throat awkwardly.

"Shall we?" He said to and we both exited the car.

Once he opened the door, he let walk in first.

I smiled softly at him as I fully stepped into the living room.

"Wow." I let out, as my eyes surveyed the entire living room. Billionaires sure had ways to enjoy life.

"Have you had anything to eat? I can whip up sothing for you to have." Alexander’s voice brought out of my thoughts.

I turned to look at him, and my brows shot up. Even without looking into the mirror, I knew that my eyes reflected the doubt I felt.

"Do you doubt ?" Alexander asked.

"Of course not!" I replied almost instantly. I wrung my fingers, avoiding eye contact with him.

"You don’t look like you trust ." He said, and I laughed awkwardly. "How about we do this? You freshen up while I make you sothing to eat."

I stared at him with a straight face. "I don’t have anything to change into."

Alexander nodded. "That’s easy." He stared at from top to bottom. "You are really petite. My shirt should fit you."

My eyes widened. His... shirt? Did he an what he just said?

Before I could form a proper response, he was already walking toward the hallway.

"Co," he beckoned simply, as if the whole thing was the most normal suggestion in the world.

I followed him, my legs moving on their own. The soft lighting along the corridor made the space feel even bigger, more luxurious.

It felt like I was walking deeper into a world that didn’t belong to , one I had no business being in.

And yet... I wasn’t turning back. Maybe I was stupid. Maybe I shouldn’t be in my boss’s house. But this was where I found myself.

Alexander stopped in front of a door and pushed it open. Warm light spilled into what looked like a guest room. Except it was bigger than my entire apartnt.

"You can stay here," he said, stepping aside so I could walk in.

The room slled faintly of cedar and sothing crisp. Possibly his cologne.

I swallowed.

Alexander walked to the closet, opened it, and pulled out a neatly folded black shirt. His shirt. It looked impossibly large. It could probably swallow whole.

He then handed it to .

"This will do for tonight."

I hesitated. "Alexander... I really don’t want to trouble you. You don’t have to do all this."

He looked down at , his expression unreadable for a mont, then sothing softened in his eyes.

"You’re not troubling , Serena." His voice was low, gentler this ti. "If anything, I’m relieved you’re here."

Relieved? My chest tightened unexpectedly. No one — not even Ethan had uttered such words to .

He placed the shirt in my hands, his fingers brushing against mine for a second, but enough to send a jolt through .

"Bathroom’s through that door," he said, nodding toward the side. "Fresh towels are inside. Take your ti."

I nodded, unable to trust my voice.

As I walked toward the bathroom, I felt his steady, protective and intense gaze on my back . I paused at the doorway and turned slightly.

"Alexander?"

"Yes?"

"Thank you... saving tonight." My voice cracked a little. "Really."

He didn’t say anything at first. He just watched , his jaw tightening, his eyes darkening in a way I didn’t understand.

Then quietly, he said "You’re safe here, Serena."

Sothing warm flooded in my chest.

I slipped into the bathroom and closed the door softly behind , leaning against it as my heartbeat raced uncontrollably.

Safe with him.

I didn’t know if that should terrify or comfort .

It was probably both.
