"Brother Sebastian..."
Nina Shaw, tears in her eyes from pain, looked pitifully at Sebastian Blackwood, yet her mouth subtly curved into a faint smile.
In this state, Brother Sebastian surely wouldn’t have the heart and would pick her up.
However—
"Owen, help Nina up."
Nina’s certainty suddenly froze; how could this happen? Why was Owen asked?
Owen: "..."
He really would say thanks.
Feeling awkward, Owen walked over to Nina’s side, "Miss Shaw, are you alright?"
Nina was so angry she nearly ground her teeth to bits, but outwardly she maintained composure, saying, "I’m fine."
Once he had helped her back onto the bed, Owen quickly slipped away. He didn’t want to get involved in anything between Master Blackwood and Nina; it was just too exhausting!
Sebastian Blackwood didn’t approach Nina, rely glanced at her injuries and inquired plainly, "How did you end up in a car accident?"
At the ntion of this, Nina imdiately began to cry sadly, "Brother Sebastian, were you having dinner with Ivy Kensington tonight?"
The man’s handso face darkened slightly; how did she know about this?
A sudden feeling of displeasure over having his privacy invaded welled up within him, and Sebastian admitted, "Yes."
A simple "Yes" almost made Nina’s nose wrinkle with anger.
It seed Brother Sebastian no longer wanted to pretend in front of her; he surely was moved again by Ivy Kensington! How hateful.
Thinking of the wedding next month, Nina clutched the blanket and began to cry softly.
"Brother Sebastian, do you not want to marry anymore?"
At the ntion of marriage, it felt like a mountain had instantly pressed down on his chest.
Sebastian Blackwood’s furrowed brows grew more profound; he couldn’t deny that he really didn’t want to marry Nina anymore.
He didn’t love her, and he shouldn’t hold her back.
"Nina, maybe we should call off the wedding."
After a prolonged silence, the man’s low, hoarse voice sounded.
With those words, Sebastian suddenly felt as if he’d unloaded a heavy burden from his heart.
Nina’s face instantly changed.
What!
She rely asked tentatively, and Brother Sebastian was actually considering it...
"Brother Sebastian, you’ve changed..."
Nina said miserably, covering her face as she cried in pain.
And yet, the more she acted this way, the more Sebastian was irritated; he no longer had the patience to comfort her.
Just at that mont—
"Brother Blackwood, since you promised to marry Nina, you shouldn’t say such things!"
Julian Hawthorne walked in. He had been abroad following up on a project and had just returned today upon hearing about Nina’s car accident, rushing over imdiately.
But he hadn’t expected to hear the ever-committed Sebastian Blackwood speaking of retreating from his promise, particularly to Nina, whom he’d watched grow up!
Julian felt sowhat dissatisfied internally, looking at Sebastian with a questioning gaze: "Next month, the news of your wedding to Nina has already spread across Celestia; who doesn’t know? Retreating now effectively condemns Nina to hell!"
"The dia has already called Nina a ho-wrecker; she’s carried that sha for so long, staying by your side without asking for anything for four years, Brother Blackwood, this is utterly unjust of you!"
Julian’s every word struck a chord with Nina, who sobbed, "Julian, please stop; it’s all my fault alone, not Brother Sebastian’s..."
Those words further ignited Julian’s anger; he had also heard about Ivy Kensington’s feigned death and return, and couldn’t help but sneer: "Brother Blackwood, don’t forget, four years ago Ivy was pregnant with soone else’s child. For that child, she lied to you countless tis; her return may very well be to seek revenge!"
"Ivy has likely never felt any true affection for you!"
