C483 – The Battle He Underestimated His Enemy

Jiang Hao gazed at the pleading Xia Lan with an unwavering resolve.

“Xia Lan, your very existence disrupts the natural order. I cannot allow you to remain!”

“Will you leave on your own, or shall I assist you?”

With those words, any glimr of hope in Xia Lan’s eyes vanished.

She shivered, her heart seething with resentnt. Her red garnts billowed without a breeze, her hair whipping about her. Her eyes brimd with jealousy and spite.

“Why can’t you accept ?!”

“Why can none of you accept ?!”

She glared at Jiang Hao, her voice roaring with anger as she bombarded him with questions.

The barrage of questions seed to bewilder everyone, leaving them lost in a fog of confusion.

Jiang Hao, facing the wrathful Xia Lan, spoke with icy detachnt.

“There is no ‘why’.”

“Those not of our kind will surely have different hearts.”

At Jiang Hao’s words, Xia Lan froze montarily, then burst into crazed laughter.

“Hahaha…”

“Such a saying, ‘those not of our kind will surely have different hearts’!”

“Well then, bring it on!”

With that declaration, Xia Lan resigned herself to her fate.

Her aura swelled, and debris began to levitate around her.

“Die!”

With a fierce cry, the floating debris—splinters of wood and stone—transford into projectiles hurtling towards Jiang Hao.

Her hair followed suit, becoming a torrential downpour of arrows.

Behind her, a multitude of red ribbons shot forth, elongating into serpentine dragons aiming straight for Jiang Hao!

The onlookers’ faces paled as they watched, wondering,

“Can he withstand such an onslaught?”

“Is this where I et my end?”

……

Having faced this terror before, they were acutely aware of the malevolent spirit’s power.

Now, drained and unable to continue the fight, it seed unlikely that Jiang Hao could defeat the specter on his own.

Unaware of the crowd’s concerns, Jiang Hao faced Xia Lan’s assault with a contemptuous snort.

“Hmph!”

“A few days apart and you think a slight increase in strength ans you can upset the balance?”

“How utterly deluded!”

With that, Jiang Hao casually placed his left hand behind him and extended his right hand forward.

The crowd was bewildered by the unfolding scene.

“What… what is he planning to do?”

“Surely he’s not thinking of taking on the Wraiths barehanded?”

“We’re done for, he’s completely underestimated them. There’s no hope left now!”

……

In that mont, Jiang Hao’s right index finger pointed to the heavens, tracing shapes in the air as if he were writing sothing!

Zhang Daoqian, clutching his chest, caught sight of this and seed to realize sothing. His eyes grew wide with astonishnt as he fixated on the sky above!

As Jiang Hao’s finger moved through the air, it left behind trails of golden light.

Swiftly, Jiang Hao drew the final line, and a complex golden rune materialized out of thin air.

With the rune complete, Jiang Hao glanced at Xia Lan and called out with an icy voice.

“Thunder Law, Banish Evil!”

“Go forth!”

With a gentle flick of his right hand, Jiang Hao sent the golden talisman soaring.

The talisman spiraled through the void, transforming into a bolt of lightning that struck with preemptive force, hitting Xia Lan in a flash.

“Sizzle, sizzle, sizzle~!”

“Ah~!”

The sounds of sizzling, as if at were roasting on a grill, were followed by a piercing scream.

Xia Lan was hurled backward, and the myriad objects she controlled lost their power, tumbling to the ground.

The lightning spell had vanquished the copious Yin Qi within Xia Lan, rendering her form translucent and ghostly.

The onlookers gaped at the spectacle before them.

Zhang Daoqian, his eyes wide with horror, stared at Jiang Hao, murmuring in disbelief.

“Could this be the pinnacle of Talisman Arts? Channeling Qi as the dium, using fingers in place of a brush, crafting talismans in midair?”
