Chapter 2828: A Display of Affection
Chu He was awakened by a series of rustling sounds.
She had always been a light sleeper. Perhaps it was because of her profession that she had a heightened alertness compared to that of ordinary people. Hence even when in a deep sleep, she was able to detect the slightest movents.
Her eyes snapped open. In the darkness, she saw ng Qingxue tiptoeing into the ward. Behind her, Mu Yanchen strode in.
The stiff leather soles of his shoes tapped loudly with each step he took.
ng Qingxue did not realize that Chu He had woken up. Thinking the girl was asleep, she turned around and whispered to Mu Yanchen, “Shh! Lower your voice. Don’t create too much movent. She’s still resting!”
“That little noise is not going to wake her at all.”
ng Qingxue contemplated for so ti. She could not stop worrying about Chu He being alone in the hospital, so she said to Mu Yanchen, “Why don’t you go ho first? I’ll stay here and accompany Chu He tonight. After all, she’s just out from surgery and needs soone to take care of her.”
The man said gloomily, “Qingxue, you’re pregnant. You probably have a greater need to be taken care of! The doctor told you to take more bed rest, otherwise...”
“But—”
“Let’s go ho and rest tonight. Tomorrow, I’ll hire two nannies to take turns looking after her.”
Mu Yanchen paused for a mont, then asked, “Will this do? How could I be at ease leaving you alone in the hospital?”
ng Qingxue pursed her lips.
Without further ado, Mu Yanchen pulled ng Qingxue into his embrace and kissed her forehead heavily. There was a hint of grievance and resentnt in his tone.
“Are you really not going ho with ?”
“...”
“How long have we not slept together?”
ng Qingxue was stunned. Imdiately, she felt her face burning.
She frowned and said, “You... don’t talk nonsense.”
However, he continued, “How is this nonsense? Qingxue, I’m already used to waking up in the morning and seeing you when I open my eyes. However, when you left, I suffered from insomnia and couldn’t sleep well. I couldn’t find you and waited. Now that you’re back, you’re spending the night watching over so unrelated woman and getting yourself all busy because of her! Have you really not considered my feelings?”
“What do you an by unrelated?” ng Qingxue said unhappily. “Chu He treats very well. In my heart, she’s like my very own sister.”
“You’re being too biased!” Mu Yanchen snorted. “Instead of being with your own man, you’re actually keeping a woman company.”
“How... how can I keep you company?!” ng Qingxue’s face was burning. She lowered her head and mumbled, “I’m pregnant... how can I be sleeping with you?!”
“What are you thinking?” Mu Yanchen was amused by her concerns. “No matter how deranged I am, I will never do anything to my pregnant woman! You’re pregnant, what do you expect to do to you?! I just want to go to sleep hugging you. Can’t I do that?”
ng Qingxue looked at him doubtfully. “Is that really all you’re thinking?”
“Yes! I swear!”
“Well... alright then!” ng Qingxue finally nodded.
Mu Yanchen smiled in satisfaction. He circled his arms around her neck and gave her a light kiss. ng Qingxue placed the supper she bought on the table and allowed Mu Yanchen to lead her away.
Chu He sat up, her face expressionless as she glanced at the supper on the table and shook off the scene of display of affection that she had just witnessed.
