Chapter 42: The "Dragon King" Who Follows Another Dragon King
Although she did not fully believe the other party’s words, the current scene and behavior indicated that he bore no obvious malice.
After a mont of contemplation, the girl asked:
“Why are you showing goodwill towards ?”
“Divine revelation.”
Buolanke replied simply:
“As for the detailed reason, our Lord has not given us much insight.”
“However, our Lord always gazes into the future. Therefore, every divine revelation carries deeper aning—it’s just that we cannot comprehend it for now.”
Charlatan.
Sylvia muttered inwardly, but instantly realized sothing was off with her sarcasm.
That guy was a god!
But did His domain include the Authority over fate?
Hiss… I don’t think it does?
“Hmm…”
Sylvia pondered for a mont and didn’t dwell on the previous question that obviously wouldn’t yield an answer. Instead, she asked:
“Just now I heard you refer to the God of Industry and Machinery as the God of Reform. Why is that?”
Hearing this question, Buolanke glanced at the cluster of starlight before him, then explained:
“Our Lord’s na changes with the tis.”
“For instance, the title ‘God of Industry and Machinery’ was adopted three hundred years ago.”
Quite trendy.
Sylvia ntally comnted again, then slightly raised her tone:
“Alright, let’s talk about sothing more practical now—”
“What use is your goodwill to ?”
Having more or less gauged the other party’s mindset, Sylvia decided to be straightforward instead of beating around the bush.
Hearing the blunt question, Buolanke was neither surprised nor annoyed. He continued wearing that relaxed smile and said:
“First, you’ll have one less enemy… mm, that was a joke.”
“Though we cannot assist you openly, we can secretly help conceal your identity.”
Is that so?
Sylvia fell silent briefly, then nodded.
They could be trusted for now, but not fully.
She suspected this move was because that God of Machinery had foreseen sothing.
Like her arrival.
Judging from the s and cultural remnants left behind in this world, she roughly deduced that the other party had crossed over around the sa ti as her, or perhaps even later.
But according to the church scriptures and local legends, that God of Machinery had already left traces of activity nearly a thousand years ago.
How could that be explained? Different flow of ti between the two worlds?
With this thought, Sylvia turned her gaze back to the other party:
“I want to communicate with the Lord you follow…”
“I believe I’m qualified.”
Her essence was that of an Outer God, and even if she was currently just an apostle, that reality remained unchanged.
And Outer Gods and True Gods existed on the sa level.
With that in mind, she noticed sothing strange—
She didn’t feel the sa reverence and fear from this Reforr as she did from Lakdevo.
Hearing Sylvia’s words, Buolanke fell into silence. A few seconds later, he finally replied:
“Although you indeed have the ability to communicate with my Lord, I’m sorry—I cannot grant this request.”
“As for the specific reason, I’m not allowed to tell you.”
Such an answer raised doubt in Sylvia’s heart once again.
Why?
But she didn’t press the matter and instead nodded quietly, steering the conversation in another direction:
“Did you co to the City of Alova just to confirm my whereabouts?”
“Not entirely.”
Buolanke smiled:
“Although the Church of Radiance didn’t inform the rest of the Orthodox Church, we still received word that a puppet tainted by the Faceless One had disappeared in this vicinity.”
“Based on our assessnt, the likelihood of your appearance in the City of Alova was not low.”
“As it happened, we received news a week ago that a three-hundred-year-old relic was unearthed here, so we ca by to take a look.”
“And today is the final day I notified them I would arrive—”
“Before this, I had visited all the remaining six cities in the Plant District.”
Sylvia nodded and followed up:
“What’s inside that relic?”
“A dragon.”
Buolanke answered concisely.
Yet this simple word sent a wave of shock through Sylvia’s heart.
“A dragon?”
She repeated the word in a questioning tone.
“Yes, and it’s not just any dragon. It’s a Dragon King.”
“Dragon King?”
Sylvia was stunned once again.
She knew of one Dragon King—
The King of Bounty and Sun.
That one was an actual True God!
And now she was being told that a Dragon King was sealed inside the relic?
But if that were true, why didn’t she sense any danger outside that door?
Was it because the being was too powerful?
Perhaps sensing Sylvia’s confusion, Buolanke chuckled:
“Ah, I’ve been imprecise again.”
“The one sealed inside the relic is, strictly speaking, at the Dragon King level, but not a true Dragon King.”
“Its power and rank have reached that tier, but it never claid the title of King.”
“Oh, and ‘Dragon King level’ actually refers to the Apostle tier. It’s not as powerful as you imagine.”
As I imagine?
Sylvia’s mind stirred, and she imdiately asked:
“Can you perceive my thoughts?”
“No.”
“But I can sense fluctuations in your emotions.”
“This space was created by divine magic bestowed by my Lord, and its primary purpose is ‘dialogue and communication.’”
“However, your rank is too high, rendering the original functions ineffective.”
“Yet because your actual strength on land is limited, I can still sense so of your more intense emotional shifts.”
“Of course, if you’re attentive, you should also be able to sense my emotional changes.”
Sylvia nodded, still skeptical. Seeing this, the other party continued the earlier topic:
“The reason you’re so surprised is likely due to the influence of the Earth Mother God.”
“There are indeed a few exceptional Dragon Kings whose rank and power reached the level of a True God.”
“But they are rare exceptions.”
“In fact, there are only three such Dragon Kings. Besides the current Earth Mother God, the other two have already fallen.”
“The reason the dragon in the relic is only at the Dragon King level and lacks a personal title is related to one of those fallen Dragon Kings.”
“Oh?”
Sylvia’s tone unconsciously lifted slightly.
Then she heard the Reforr say:
“It was a follower of the Calamity Dragon, and thus lost the qualification to beco a Dragon King.”
“Calamity Dragon?”
Hearing yet another unfamiliar na, Sylvia once again felt a wave of confusion.
