Chloe Sterling glanced at the woman and snapped, "Stay away from . I’m allergic to idiots like you."

Upon hearing this, Esther’s expression changed, but she quickly reverted to a smug look. "Don’t worry, I’ll definitely stay far away from you in the future. After all, you’re about to go back to the countryside. Dad’s going to send you back himself."

The other day, when Esther and her parents went to visit the Stone Family, they realized the incident wasn’t so simple. The Stone Family seed to have offended so major figure and were getting hit hard because of the Cecilia Stone incident. He no longer dared to get involved in the Stone Family’s affairs, but he still decided to send Chloe Sterling back to the countryside.

At this thought, Esther smiled again. "Frankly, you never should have co to Crestfall. This place isn’t for you. And don’t get your hopes up with those wild fantasies. You’ll never be able to cross the threshold of the Xavier Family."

The words had barely left her mouth when Director Xavier’s voice ca from behind them.

"Chloe."

Chloe turned around. "Hello, Director Xavier."

Director Xavier walked over and handed her a black notebook. "This is your notebook, isn’t it? You forgot it just now."

"It is." Chloe took the notebook. "Thank you for bringing it to yourself."

Director Xavier smiled amiably. "It’s okay. It was no trouble at all."

Having Chloe stay at the lab was enough to make him happy for the rest of his life!

Esther stared at the scene in shock. Director Xavier actually knew Chloe and had personally delivered a worthless notebook to her!

Her eyes darted about for a mont before she smiled. "Director Xavier, hello. I’m..."

"Oh, right, Chloe. Don’t forget to co over for dinner on Saturday."

Director Xavier ignored Esther, and deliberately cut her off to remind Chloe again.

Chloe smiled and nodded. "I won’t forget about this."

Esther’s face turned ashen as she tried to speak again. "Director Xavier..."

Director Xavier shot her a cold sidelong glance, his sharp eyes filled with a warning that instantly silenced her.

When he turned back to Chloe, his expression switched back to a cheerful smile. "Chloe, be careful on your way. I’ll head back now."

Chloe replied, "Thank you. Take care, Director Xavier."

Director Xavier turned and left.

Chloe walked to her car, opened the door, got in, and sped away, leaving a cloud of dust in her wake.

Watching the departing car, Esther’s fingers suddenly clenched into a fist. ’If that’s how that works out, then I absolutely cannot let that bitch stay in Crestfall.’

Back at the Sterling residence...

Esther had a worried expression on her face.

Rose was reclining on the sofa with a face mask on. Seeing her daughter’s expression, she asked, "Esther, what’s wrong? Why having the long face?"

Esther sat down next to Rose and said slowly, "Mom, a friend of mine said they saw sister at the dical College. I went to check today, and she was really there."

"What!" Rose imdiately sat up straight. "What is she doing at the dical College?"

Esther shook her head. "I don’t know the specifics. She’s probably working there. I assu Young Master Xavier arranged it."

Rose’s brow furrowed again. "That damn girl has no idea what she’s worth! The Xavier Family is a dical dynasty. Does she think spending a few days in so countryside herbal shop qualifies her to enter the dical College?! This is absurd! And that Julian Xavier, isn’t he afraid Old Master Xavier will find out and break his legs!"

Esther said, "That’s not even the worst of it. I’m just worried Sister will get overconfident and act recklessly at the dical College, relying on Young Master Xavier’s influence. If she causes so huge disaster, it’ll drag our Sterling Family down with her. Even though Dad has kicked her out, people will still co looking for us if she gets into trouble. Take the Stone Family, for example. They offended soone powerful and were too busy to deal with her this ti, but she won’t be so lucky every ti."

Rose’s expression grew darker and darker. "Your father is too busy with company matters these few days to deal with her. It seems we’ll have to use that other thod."

Esther’s eyes lit up. "What thod?"

Rose glanced at her. "Don’t you worry about that. Just focus on preparing for this weekend’s banquet. You must get the Rivers to notice you. Even if it’s just a branch family, they’re still the Rivers Family—a prestigious house that other, smaller families can’t even reach."

Esther’s eyes filled with anticipation as she nodded. "Yes."

Chloe didn’t return to the Lockwood Residence. Instead, she went to a martial arts gym. She was a special guest Martial Arts Coach there, with the freedom to choose her own clients. If she didn’t want to take soone on, she’d refuse no matter how much they offered.

The owner of the gym was a young, handso man. Seeing her arrive, he imdiately ran over. "Chloe, you’re here."

"What did you need for?" Chloe asked directly.

The owner grinned. "It’s about that little heir from the Rivers Family. He ca by again yesterday, insisting that you be the one to teach him."

Chloe refused without a second thought. "I’m not teaching him!"

"...Why?" the owner asked. "He’s handso and rich. Why do you always turn him down?"

"His born-gift is too poor," Chloe replied.

"It’s not like you’re taking on a formal disciple."

"If there’s nothing else, I’m leaving."

"You really won’t reconsider that?" the owner pressed.

"Not considering it!"

After leaving the gym, Chloe sent a ssage to Jasper, telling him she’d be back late tonight.

Jasper replied quickly, "Okay."

Putting her phone away, Chloe gripped the steering wheel and drove off.

...

In a private room at a restaurant.

Chloe set down her wine glass, her beautiful eyes slightly hazy with drink. She looked at the cigarettes by Julian’s hand with an interested expression.

Noticing her gaze, Julian imdiately moved the cigarettes to his other side. "Chloe, let’s not do this."

Chloe’s lips curved into a smile, her cool, beautiful face tinged with a hint of seductive charm. "It’s not like I haven’t tried it before."

She had smoked before, but only to try it. She didn’t like it and certainly wasn’t addicted.

Julian’s gaze on her was complicated. He paused for a few seconds before saying, "If you’ve tried it and didn’t like it, then don’t try it again."

Chloe didn’t say anything, her gaze simply fixed on the pack of cigarettes.

Julian couldn’t stand that look of hers. "Just one puff, then you throw it away, okay?" he said and resigned.

Chloe nodded.

Julian sighed softly and handed her the cigarettes.

Chloe pulled out a cigarette, put it between her lips, and lit it. She took one drag but still couldn’t get used to the taste, so she imdiately tossed it into the ashtray.

Julian smiled and took the cigarettes away.

Chloe picked up her wine glass, took a sip, and then stood up. "I’m going to the restroom."

In the hallway...

Jasper noticed the girl’s figure in the distance and walked over.

When Chloe ca out of the restroom, an incredibly handso face entered her line of sight. She froze for a second, surprised. "Jasper! What are you doing here?"

Jasper walked up to her and chuckled. "You’re here too."

As soon as he spoke, he seed to sll sothing and furrowed his brow slightly. "Did you smoke?"

Chloe pressed her lips together.

For once, Jasper’s handso face was serious. "No smoking here."

"I’m an adult."

"That doesn’t matter!"

Chloe Sterling’s beautiful eyes looked straight at him, which carried a trace of rebellion and defiance. "What gives you the right to tell what to do?"

Jasper’s sharp eyes darkened slightly. He paused for a few seconds, then his thin lips parted. "I’m your husband, in na and in reality."
