On the Day I Was Kicked Out of the Wealthy Family, I Had a Flash Marriage with a Tycoon Chapter 198: Just Friends
Tristan Sinclair looked away and said nothing more.
Dean Lynch glanced at him in the rearview mirror. Tristan’s expression was unreadable, betraying no emotion.
After a while, the car inched forward, slowly making its way through the congested section of road.
「Inside the martial arts school.」
Jean Kensington had lost her patience. She flopped onto the sofa and said dejectedly, "I guess I just don’t have the talent for this. Forget it, I’m not going to force it."
Chase Langdon chuckled. "That’s not it. It’s just harder for adults to pick up martial arts. You don’t have to push yourself to beco a master. Knowing a few self-defense moves is enough. Plus, it’s great for staying in shape."
Jean Kensington leaned back against the sofa and said languidly, "But it’s so exhausting. I really can’t go on."
Chase Langdon: "Then let’s call it a day. Just rest."
’My martial arts career is probably over before it even started,’ Jean Kensington thought. ’I’m just not cut out for this. I should stick to conquering the online world, where I actually know what I’m doing.’
"By the way, have you been able to reach Damian Rivers?"
Chase Langdon shook his head. "No. He’s still not answering his phone or returning any ssages."
Jean Kensington murmured, "Ever since he left The Sinclair Residence that day, Tristan Sinclair hasn’t been able to reach him either. He’s probably in a bad mood and doesn’t want to contact anyone."
Chase Langdon sighed. "The world of the rich is so chaotic. Why does everyone have to be constantly fighting and scheming?"
Jean Kensington: "Because of ambition, of course. And the lure of power."
Chase Langdon looked at her and suddenly asked, "Do you want to marry into a rich family?"
Jean Kensington scoffed. "Marry into a rich family? I haven’t even thought about getting married at all. Being on my own is perfectly fine."
"But you can’t be alone forever, can you?"
"And why not? Besides, I’m not alone. I have my son."
"But what about when your son gets married? Won’t you be alone then?"
"Then I’ll be alone. It’s not like I can’t survive."
Chase Langdon suddenly turned, walked over to the vending machine, and grabbed a bottle of water. Then he asked, "Want sothing to drink?"
Jean Kensington glanced at the vending machine. "A hot coffee would be nice."
Chase Langdon got a can of hot coffee, handed it to her, and sat down beside her.
Jean Kensington took the coffee and had a sip. She then asked curiously, "By the way, Chase, what’s your type?"
Chase Langdon looked at her and smiled. "Beautiful ones, of course."
Jean Kensington pouted. "You n are all the sa."
Chase Langdon raised an eyebrow. "Aren’t won the sa? Don’t you like handso guys?"
Jean Kensington’s lips curved into a slight smile. "Fair enough."
’But she only liked looking; she’d never considered pursuing a relationship with any of them.’
"So, aside from looks? What about personality? What kind of personality are you into?"
After a mont’s thought, Chase Langdon said, "Soone lively and cheerful... like... like you."
Jean Kensington was taken aback for a second. "Like ?"
Chase Langdon cleared his throat. "I just an cheerful, you know? As long as she’s not cold and icy like Chloe."
Jean Kensington laughed again. "You definitely couldn’t handle soone like Chloe. A sweet girl like Claire White would be a better fit for you. You should consider her."
Chase Langdon: "..."
"By the way, have you checked in on her and her brother recently?"
Chase Langdon twisted the cap off his bottle and took a sip of water, clearly not wanting to talk about it.
Jean Kensington watched him intently, apparently waiting for his answer.
Chase Langdon said with a resigned sigh, "They’re doing fine. They don’t need worrying about them."
As they were talking, soone ca over looking for Chase Langdon.
"I have to step away for a mont. You can hang out here."
Jean Kensington nodded. "Okay, go ahead."
Chase Langdon headed to his office upstairs.
Jean Kensington sat alone on the sofa, gazing out the floor-to-ceiling window at the bustling street below. Her eyes happened to fall upon a couple.
The weather was cold, and they were huddled close together. The girl had her hand tucked into the boy’s jacket pocket, and they were talking and laughing, looking incredibly sweet.
Despite the sweet scene, Jean Kensington felt a pang of emptiness. ’Spending a lifeti alone... that suddenly seems like a very long ti.’
As she was lost in thought, the phone in her pocket suddenly rang. She snapped out of it, quickly pulled out her phone, and saw it was Dean Lynch. She answered imdiately. "Hello, Uncle."
"Jean, you need to be honest with ." Dean Lynch’s voice was low, as if to keep anyone nearby from overhearing.
"Honest about what?" Jean Kensington was completely baffled.
"You’re not dating anyone?"
Jean Kensington was exasperated. "...Why are you suddenly bringing this up again?"
Dean Lynch’s voice was stern. "Just tell , are you or aren’t you!"
"Of course not! Don’t tell you’ve heard so rumor about ?"
"You and the owner of that martial arts school... are you really just friends?"
"We are just friends! Haven’t I told you a million tis? We’re just friends, like brothers!"
After a mont of silence, Dean Lynch just said, "Got it," and hung up.
Jean Kensington was bewildered. ’What was that all about?’
「anwhile.」
Outside a corporate eting room, Tristan Sinclair had just erged. His sharp eyes fixed on Dean Lynch as he asked, "Who was that on the phone? Why were you being so secretive?"
"Oh... Jean," Dean Lynch explained. "I was just reminding her to head ho early."
"You have business with her?"
"No, I just bought her a few things online and wanted to make sure she was ho to get the package."
"If you’re not busy, then co back to The Sinclair Residence with . I have a few things I need you to do."
"Understood."
The two returned to The Sinclair Residence.
As soon as Tristan Sinclair walked in, he saw Chairman Sinclair standing in the living room, his furious eyes fixed on him.
"Tristan, what have you been up to lately?"
Tristan Sinclair said nonchalantly as he walked past, "Nothing much. Just busy with company business."
"You think I’d believe that!" Chairman Sinclair’s voice rose, laced with obvious fury.
"Believe what you want."
Ever since the fall of the Rivers Family, Mr. and Mrs. Sinclair had seen for themselves what Jasper Lockwood was capable of. They were genuinely terrified and didn’t dare make any rash moves.
"Tristan Sinclair!" Chairman Sinclair repeated. "Are you trying to rally the shareholders to force out?"
Tristan Sinclair stopped in front of him. "Since you already know, why bother asking?"
"Have you been planning this for a long ti? When did you start?"
Tristan Sinclair let out a cold laugh. "I should have planned it sooner. My only regret is that it took this long to finally act."
Chairman Sinclair’s face darkened. He said in a grave voice, "Do you really think you’re powerful enough to take over everything? Tristan, you’re still too young. You don’t even realize soone has already betrayed you!"
Tristan Sinclair said dismissively, "Of course I know. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be here. But... it was all within my expectations."
Chairman Sinclair looked shocked. "You know who it is?"
"I didn’t at first, but I do now. Thanks to him tipping you off, I was able to flush him out." After a pause, Tristan Sinclair continued, "Dad, give up. You won’t get another chance to interfere in the Group’s business. You should start thinking about which country you’d like to retire to. I’ll make the arrangents."
"You insolent whelp!" Chairman Sinclair raised his hand and slapped Tristan Sinclair across the face.
Standing behind them, Dean Lynch jumped in surprise. "President Sinclair..."
Tristan Sinclair looked coldly at his father and ordered his n, "Escort Chairman Sinclair ho."
