I nodded quickly, looking at him with a hopeful expression. "Mr. King, do you know sothing?"

This old butler had co with my mother-in-law from her family’s ho when she married into the Grant family. He was fiercely loyal to her. The only reason he’d ask such a question was if he had discovered sothing.

The old butler pressed his lips together, the sagging bags under his eyes giving him a somber look. "The day Mrs. Grant was rushed to the hospital after her sudden collapse, Clara Langley went into her room. And... I heard from a maid that there was a fierce argunt in the room..."

My heart clenched. "What were they arguing about?"

The old butler shook his head. "The maid didn’t hear clearly at the ti. But I’m sure of it—Clara Langley is the one who hard Mrs. Grant!"

His expression grew agitated as he spoke, and he could barely keep his voice down.

I quickly made a hushing gesture. "Mr. King, please, calm down. I actually also suspect that soone is trying to harm my mother-in... Mrs. Grant..."

Seeing suddenly correct myself, the old butler’s face filled with sorrow. "Young Madam, your divorce from the Young Master... is it also because of Clara Langley’s ddling? I also heard she’s pregnant..."

"Mr. Lombard said he’s going to hold a wedding for them at the end of this month..."

’The end of this month...’

’They’re really rushing it. My divorce from Theodore Grant becos final on that exact day!’

’Does Theodore Grant plan to get a marriage certificate with Clara Langley the mont he gets the divorce certificate from ?’

’Divorce and marriage, all on the sa day!’

’A seamless transition!’

’How impressive!’

Mr. King grew more and more agitated. "That Clara Langley acts like she’s already the future mistress of the Grant Family. Even when the Young Master isn’t ho, she often cos over and stays for hours! She ca at noon today and still hasn’t left!"

I was taken aback. "Clara Langley is at the Grant residence right now?"

Mr. King nodded. "Yes, that’s right."

He pointed to a red Lamborghini sports car parked in the courtyard. "Mr. Lombard just took her to pick up that car from the dealership this morning. She drove it here!"

I asked urgently, "Then where is she now?"

But Mr. King shook his head. "I don’t know either."

My brow furrowed as I thought about how Clara Langley was the pri suspect in my mother-in-law’s poisoning.

Thanks to Vincent Lombard, Clara Langley ca and went from the Grant residence as if it were her own backyard. She certainly had the ti and motive to administer the poison...

But the most crucial thing right now was to find the source of the poison. Only then would the doctors know how to treat her.

"Mr. King, could you please have soone help move these things to the living room downstairs? I’ll have soone co by to pick them up in a bit."

Mr. King nodded quickly. "Of course. I’ll arrange for it right away."

Once Mr. King left, I began to pack my own things—even though I never intended to take any of them in the first place!

Since I was already here, I had to put on a good show to avoid arousing suspicion.

But just as Mr. King called people over to start moving my things, a strange, mocking voice suddenly sounded from the doorway. "Well, this is a first. A divorced woman who can still co and go from her ex-husband’s ho as she pleases. What? Wasn’t getting so much of Theodore Grant’s assets in the divorce enough for you? Don’t tell you’re trying to fish in troubled waters and steal sothing, too?"

I frowned and turned to look. Clara Langley was standing at the bedroom door with her arms crossed, trying to put on a righteous air but only managing to look exceptionally petty.

"The divorce certificate hasn’t taken effect yet. Right now, I am still legally Mrs. Grant..." At this, I raised an eyebrow at Clara Langley. "I’m just not sure in what capacity you’re speaking to right now."

"I..." Clara Langley puffed out her chest, instinctively wanting to say she was the future Mrs. Grant.

But my first sentence had already cut off her retort.

No matter what status she tried to claim, she would just be the howrecker everyone despised.

Not to ntion the child of unknown paternity in her belly.

"Such a sharp tongue!" Clara Langley took a deep breath, quickly regaining her composure. She sneered, "But you don’t have to always resort to a woman’s typical pestering tricks. That routine might work on n, but it’s useless on !"

"Theodore Grant only gave you so much because he has a soft heart and pitied you. I suggest you quit while you’re ahead. If you annoy , I’ll make sure you don’t get a single penny!"

I couldn’t help but laugh. "The divorce agreent was signed between and Theodore Grant. Let ask you sothing: what damn business is it of yours?"

Clara Langley’s brow furrowed. "Don’t try to change the subject. You were so determined to get a divorce before. Don’t tell you’re having second thoughts now?"

"Don’t worry," I said coldly. "I’m definitely going through with this divorce!"

Clara Langley pursed her lips, her face full of disbelief. "I told you, don’t play these gas with . I can tell you’re lying with a single glance. Otherwise, why would you co all the way back here to pick up this garbage you’d already thrown away?"

I suddenly smiled. "You don’t have to worry about that. I have no interest in collecting trash."

Clara Langley sneered. "Still putting on a brave face, even now. Back then, if you hadn’t clung to him so shalessly, how could Theodore Grant have possibly married you? But now that you’ve divorced him, I advise you not to even think about withdrawing the divorce application. If you don’t, Theodore might actually respect you a little more!"

Looking at Clara Langley, who spoke with such self-righteous conviction, I found the whole situation utterly absurd.

’I’m now even a little curious about Clara Langley’s mother—Vincent Lombard’s so-called ’one true love.’ After all, the person who could raise a real piece of work like Clara must be no ordinary woman.’

I didn’t want to argue with her pointlessly anymore. Seeing that the maids had moved everything out, I turned to go downstairs.

But Clara Langley relentlessly grabbed my wrist. "I’m not done talking to you! Where are you going?!"

I shook her hand off with a look of disgust. Just as I was about to speak, my gaze fell on a red mark on her collarbone, which had been faintly revealed by the struggle...

It was a hickey.

My eyes turned cold. ’Theodore Grant really has so nerve. Clara Langley is pregnant, yet he still dares to do sothing like this?’

’Isn’t he afraid she’ll have a miscarriage?’

Just then, Clara Langley noticed staring at her. She followed my gaze down with a confused look on her face. When she saw the hickey on her collarbone, she frantically covered it, looking for all the world like a thief with a guilty conscience.

I couldn’t help but sneer. ’So she does have so sense of sha after all! She actually knows to hide it.’

’Even if it’s a blatant attempt to cover it up.’

"Chelsea..."

And just then, a voice, tinged with pleasant surprise, suddenly sounded from behind .

Before I could even react, Theodore Grant was already striding toward , his face alight with joy. "I knew you’d co!"
