Theodore Grant’s brow was furrowed, as if he were wrestling with so painful inner turmoil.

Finally, he took a deep breath and fixed his gaze on . "Chelsea Joyce, I’ll ask you one last ti. Do you really want a divorce?"

I was still reeling from the shock of Theodore being duped into fatherhood, so my reaction was a beat too slow.

"Yes." Once I ca to my senses, I nodded without hesitation.

"Fine." Theodore let out a heavy breath. "I’ll see you at the Civil Affairs Bureau tomorrow morning."

With that, he gave one last deep look before taking Clara Langley’s hand and striding toward the car.

"You still have feelings for her, don’t you?"

They hadn’t gone far before Clara Langley audaciously reached out to pinch Theodore’s waist. "You’re the one who wronged , so why does it feel like I’m the one taking advantage of you?"

"Alright, that’s enough." Theodore grabbed her hand and pulled the car door open for her. "Get in."

As I watched the car speed away, I stood frozen in place, hardly able to believe that Theodore had actually agreed to the divorce just like that.

I don’t know how long I stood there before I finally started to laugh.

But once I started, I couldn’t stop. I laughed for a long ti before I finally quieted down.

I imdiately and eagerly called Chloe Miller to share the good news.

After I finished explaining, it took Chloe a few seconds to process everything before her brain started working again.

"Clara Langley is passing off her ex-husband’s kid as Theodore’s?" The incredulity in Chloe’s voice was palpable. "And Theodore... he just bought it?"

"Yep."

Chloe clicked her tongue in amazent. "Doesn’t Theodore know he has a low sperm count? Getting her pregnant on the first try... How could he believe sothing with such low odds?"

I let out a soft laugh. "It doesn’t matter if he believes it or not, as long as he agrees to the divorce."

"True." Chloe nodded in agreent, a wide grin spreading across her face.

But then, as if she’d just rembered sothing, she said, "Wait, but didn’t you get pregnant on the first try, too? I guess having a low sperm count doesn’t an you’re completely infertile..."

Chloe’s words couldn’t help but remind of that wild night with Theodore last month.

At that banquet, I have no idea who drugged my drink, but thankfully, Theodore arrived just in ti...

But Theodore was especially ferocious that night. He took again and again, like an insatiable beast...

From the bed to the sofa, and then to the bathroom... I even started to wonder if I was the one who had been drugged, or if he was.

But even so, though Theodore’s movents were rough and fierce, they held a trace of tenderness, making unable to stop myself from opening up to him, surrendering to him as we drowned in overwhelming ecstasy again and again.

At that thought, I lowered my gaze, my hand instinctively coming to rest on my lower abdon.

"Chloe, after I finalize the divorce at the Civil Affairs Bureau tomorrow, co with to get the abortion."

The last ti I went to the hospital, the doctor said my body wasn’t ready for the procedure. A week has passed since then. It’s ti to put an end to this.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes."

"Okay, then. I’ll go to the hospital with you tomorrow."

...

Perhaps it was because a long-held wish was finally about to co true, but my cheerful mood made especially efficient at work.

I actually finished today’s voice-over session half an hour early.

Since I got off work early, I made a special trip to the supermarket, planning to cook a nice al to celebrate.

But just as I was waiting for the elevator with my hands full of groceries, soone suddenly took the bags from .

I jumped, thinking I was being robbed, and almost reflexively tried to snatch them back.

"It’s ," a deep, magnetic voice sounded right after.

"Senior Forrest?" I let out a long sigh of relief and patted my chest lightly. "You scared to death."

Sebastian Forrest chuckled, his eyes dropping to the bags he’d just taken from . "Bought this much? Did you get paid?"

I couldn’t help but smile, my eyes curving. "Theodore Grant ca to see today..."

The smile on Sebastian’s face froze slightly. "He..."

"He said he’s agreed to the divorce! We’re eting at the Civil Affairs Bureau tomorrow morning to file the papers!"

Sebastian stared blankly for a few seconds before breaking into a relieved smile. "Is that so? That’s great! Congratulations, Junior, you finally got what you wanted!"

I smiled and nodded, looking at him gratefully. "I still have to thank you. If you hadn’t helped , I never would have made it this far."

The corner of Sebastian’s lip quirked up. He suddenly leaned close to my ear and whispered, "Thanking so earnestly... Are you trying to back out of our deal, Junior?"

His sudden proximity brought with it the faint, cool scent of agarwood.

"No..." My heart seed to skip a beat. Sebastian’s gesture just now had been far too... alluring.

"As soon as the divorce is finalized, I’ll go with you to Varden to see your grandmother."

Sebastian’s gaze was scorching as he stared at . Just as I was starting to feel uncomfortable, he finally curled his lips into a slight smile. "Good. It’s a deal."

...

Soon, Sebastian and I were heading up in the elevator.

"Would you mind if I joined you for dinner, Junior?"

When we reached my door, Sebastian lifted the bags in his hands. "You provide the ingredients, I’ll provide the labor. How about we have dinner together?"

I had originally planned to celebrate with Chloe, but she couldn’t make it because sothing ca up at her company.

Now, not only did I have soone to eat with, but he was also offering to do the cooking—and he was an amazing cook, no less. It was an offer I couldn’t refuse.

"Of course."

Sebastian smiled, the mirth reaching the corners of his eyes. "Then go relax for a bit. Dinner will be ready soon."

I had to admit, for a man who used to be a researcher, he was incredibly efficient in the kitchen. In no ti at all, a table full of dishes was served.

"How did you make such a feast?" I asked, my face full of surprise.

’I just randomly bought a few ingredients. How did he turn them into so much food?’

"Don’t you know what you bought?" Sebastian chuckled, pulling out a chair for . "Here, have a taste and see how it is."

I imdiately picked up a piece of sweet and sour pork. The sweet and tangy flavor that filled my mouth was enough to entice out every last craving.

"Mmm, delicious."

My tastes had changed since I got pregnant, and I especially craved sour things.

"Slow down..."

Seeing wolfing down the food, Sebastian gave a helpless smile. "You’ve got so on your face."

I instinctively raised a hand to wipe my face, then looked up at Sebastian. "Is it gone?"

"Here." Sebastian pointed to his own left cheek.

I copied his gesture, rubbing my own cheek.

Sebastian couldn’t help but shake his head with a laugh. Seemingly unable to sit still any longer, he rose slightly from his seat and reached out, gently wiping my cheek with the pad of his thumb.

I turned my head away on instinct, but as I lifted my eyes, they t a pair of irises as black as ink...

They were like a bottomless abyss, yet his pupils shone brightly, reflecting my own eyes within them.
