Theodore Grant pressed his lips together and said nothing, just staring at with a grim face, his gaze deep and complex.

"That’s right! They’re getting a divorce. Aren’t you thrilled?" Chloe Miller couldn’t help but chi in. "Just in ti to make room for you two, you scumbag and you shaless bitch!"

Clara Langley’s brow furrowed in displeasure. "What nonsense are you spouting? Theodore and I are just good friends. Our relationship is completely platonic. What does their divorce have to do with ?"

"Pah! You shaless howrecker!" Chloe Miller didn’t hold back in the slightest, cursing her directly.

Clara Langley’s expression paled at the insult. Knowing she couldn’t win an argunt against Chloe, she shot a hateful glare. "No wonder Theodore is divorcing you! You’re always so paranoid, falsely accusing people!"

"You’re saying I’m falsely accusing you?" Her feigned sanctimony infuriated . "Do you dare say you didn’t get divorced for Theodore’s sake?" I said coldly.

Clara Langley frowned and declared righteously, "Why wouldn’t I dare?"

I sneered. "You’re utterly shaless."

’Theodore himself was the one who admitted she got divorced for him.’

’And here she is, putting on this disgustingly righteous act in front of !’

Clara seed surprised that I was so certain she had divorced for Theodore. She frowned and glared at him, as if blaming him for telling everything.

I looked at Theodore coolly. "You seem to be in a good mood, seeing as you have the energy to go shopping. Since that’s the case, let’s go to the Civil Affairs Bureau together and get the divorce papers finalized!"

Theodore’s thin lips tightened. He let out a sudden, cold laugh, his voice tinged with mockery. "Are you that desperate to divorce ? Is it because of Sebastian Forrest?"

"What?"

It was as if I hadn’t heard him correctly.

Theodore’s face was grim. "Why would Sebastian Forrest help you? Isn’t it obvious? What, are you still not going to admit it?"

I suddenly felt like laughing, but I found I couldn’t. "You think we’re getting divorced because of Sebastian Forrest?"

"What other reason could there be?"

I laughed out of pure rage. It felt like a raging inferno was burning in my chest, threatening to consu whole. "Theodore Grant, you’re truly shaless!"

’No one knew better than him how our marriage had ended up this way.’

’Yet he was trying to pin all the bla on !’

"Fine. If that’s how it is, let’s go to the Civil Affairs Bureau right now and get divorced!"

Theodore pressed his lips together. A flicker of avoidance crossed his eyes, but he remained silent.

Beside them, Clara Langley seed to be growing anxious. She quickly nudged his arm with her elbow. "What are you standing there for? Hurry up and agree! She’s walking all over you, and you’re just going to take it? Theodore, are you even a man?"

"Shut up!"

Theodore shot Clara a harsh glare. "Stop making a fool of yourself here. Let’s go."

With that, he turned and strode away.

Clara pressed her lips together resentfully, but still turned to chase after Theodore. "Wait for ! Don’t walk so fast!"

Watching them leave, I collapsed onto a sofa in the nearby seating area as if completely drained, my expression unreadably dazed.

’This was the man I had loved for twelve years.’

’But only now did I realize he didn’t even have the backbone a man should have.’

’How could I have been so blind to fall for him back then?’

"Chelsea?"

Seeing that I hadn’t spoken for a while, Chloe Miller grabbed my hand worriedly. "Okay, don’t be angry anymore. It’s not worth ruining your health over a scumbag like him."

"You’re right." I took a deep breath, trying to control my emotions.

"Um, let ask a nosy question. I heard Theodore say just now that Sebastian Forrest helped you with the divorce yesterday. What’s the tea on that?"

I instinctively turned to look at Chloe and t her eyes, which were burning with the raging fire of gossip.

I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. "Theodore tracked down at my place yesterday. Senior Forrest happened to be dropping ho and helped get rid of him..."

Chloe nudged my shoulder, a gossipy look on her face. "See? I told you Sebastian Forrest likes you, didn’t I? You’re the only one who can’t see it."

"Don’t talk nonsense," I couldn’t help but stop her.

’That was not sothing to joke about.’

Chloe couldn’t help but roll her eyes. "Fine, believe what you want."

...

The next afternoon, I went to my interview at Wind-Whisper wearing a form-fitting long dress that Chloe Miller had picked out for personally.

Although it had been a long ti since I’d done any voice acting work, I still had the fundantal skills.

The interview went smoothly. However, there was a three-month probationary period during which the salary would be halved. I would only receive my full salary and benefits, including social security contributions, after becoming a permanent employee.

"Chelsea, I think your vocal quality is excellent. You’d be a perfect fit for the female lead in this historical drama about a woman disguising herself as a man..." The business manager pushed a file in front of .

I was a bit overwheld by the offer, not expecting to land such an important role right after starting a new job.

"Thank you, manager. I’ll do my best."

But when my eyes fell on the details in the file, I froze—Clara Langley?

The role I was supposed to voice was for Clara Langley?!

"What’s wrong?" Seeing staring blankly at the file, the manager asked with so confusion, "Is there a problem?"

"The voice acting work doesn’t require direct contact with the actors, right?"

"Of course not." The manager paused, then seed to misunderstand my intention. "Are you a fan of Clara Langley, Chelsea? If you’d like, I could arrange a eting for you two."

I quickly shook my head. "No, I was just asking."

The manager smiled. "We voice actors are behind-the-scenes perforrs. No one really pays attention to whether an actor’s voice is their own or dubbed. All the focus is on the actor on screen."

"I understand. Thank you, manager." I couldn’t help but breathe a secret sigh of relief.

Although the idea of dubbing for Clara Langley made feel sowhat uncomfortable, it was a job, and my first one during my probation period at that. I would just have to pretend I didn’t know her.

Since it was my first day, I wasn’t familiar with a lot of things, so I worked so overti. By the ti I left for ho, it was already evening.

After washing up, I lay in bed to familiarize myself with the script, hoping to nail the recording in one take at the studio tomorrow.

Just as I was getting engrossed in the material, a sudden KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK sounded at the door. It was followed by a deep, slightly slurred voice from outside. "Chelsea, open up. It’s , Theodore Grant."

I frowned and looked through the peephole. Sure enough, I saw a very drunk Theodore Grant staggering outside my door.

’Did he get drunk and co here to cause a scene?’

I had no intention of dealing with him, so I turned and got back on my bed to continue reading the script.

But Theodore kept knocking relentlessly, making it impossible for to focus on the script.

Holding back a bellyful of rage, I swung the door open and snapped, "Theodore Grant, don’t you dare cause a drunken scene here! Believe , I will call the police!"

But as soon as the words left my mouth, Theodore suddenly pulled into his arms, burying his face in my neck. "Chelsea, don’t divorce , okay?"
