"What’s she doing in the OB/GYN departnt?" Chloe Miller clearly noticed too, turning her head and lowering her voice conspiratorially. "She couldn’t have so kind of STD, could she?"
They say the entertainnt industry is a cesspool, and Clara Langley has been working abroad all this ti.
"Don’t tell Clara Langley is pregnant too?" Chloe continued to guess wildly.
"Forget about her." I glanced around, not the least bit interested in her business. "There’s an elevator over there. Let’s go that way."
But Chloe grabbed . "No way! Let’s see if there’s any drama."
Helpless, I could only wait while Chloe peeked through the crack in the door for what felt like forever. She didn’t manage to figure anything out by the ti Clara Langley left, so she finally gave up.
"I’m telling you, Clara Langley is definitely hiding so shady secret..." Chloe insisted adamantly as we walked out.
"Who cares what secrets she has? Just hearing her na makes want to puke. Let’s not talk about her..."
"Okay, okay, okay," Chloe said, grinning as she hugged my arm. "No more talking about her. Let’s..."
But before she could finish, a nearby car let out a BEEP. We subconsciously followed the sound with our eyes and saw Sebastian Forrest pushing open his car door.
"Senior Forrest?" I was completely astonished. "What are you doing here?"
"I ca to drop sothing off for Jude Miller. I was just about to head back when I saw you two." Sebastian Forrest tilted his head, a lazy smile on his face. "It’s almost noon. Would you two young ladies do the honor of joining for lunch?"
"Oh, we couldn’t possibly..." Chloe feigned politeness, but her eyes were crinkled with a wide smile.
Sebastian Forrest was, after all, the sole heir of the top-tier Forrest Family. With a background that prestigious, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to call him the crown prince of the Kington Circle.
On any given day, the line of people wanting to have a al with him could probably stretch for miles.
Sebastian Forrest chuckled and turned to open the passenger door. "Get in. We can take my car."
"Thank you, Senior Forrest!" Chloe exclaid, excitedly grabbing my arm. "Chelsea, hurry up and get in."
Compared to Chloe’s excitent, I felt a little embarrassed.
After all, just a few days ago, I had asked him for a favor and offered to treat him to a al, but Sebastian Forrest ended up paying the bill...
’And now he was treating again...’
"Why don’t I treat you to lunch today?"
While fastening his seatbelt, Sebastian Forrest glanced at the rearview mirror, his eyes eting mine. A smile touched his lips. "Alright. You can pick the place."
I thought for a mont, then it was as if sothing suddenly ca to . "How about we get malatang at that place near the university? I rember you like it too, Senior Forrest, right?"
Back in our school days, Chloe and I loved going to that malatang place. We even ran into Sebastian Forrest there a few tis.
At the ti, Chloe and I were completely shocked. We never thought a refined young master from a prestigious family like Sebastian Forrest would also enjoy eating sothing like that. It was just inconceivable.
But after I married Theodore Grant, I didn’t go very often because he preferred plain food and disliked malatang, which he called junk food.
A soft CLICK sounded as Sebastian Forrest buckled his seatbelt. The corner of his mouth lifted into a smile. "Okay."
Soon, Sebastian Forrest parked his car on the comrcial street next to Kington University.
Since it was the middle of the lunch rush, the malatang place was packed and bustling with activity.
"You two wait here, I’ll go order." Putting on the magnanimous air of soone treating, I waved my hand grandly, telling them to go grab a table.
However, there were just too many people at the counter. I was jostled back again and again, and in the chaos, I quickly shielded my stomach, my brow furrowing in spite of myself.
"Excuse !"
But right at that mont, a few tall, well-built male students shot past from behind, and one of them slamd hard into my shoulder.
My body tilted, and I stumbled, about to fall.
Just then, a hand firmly grasped my wrist. The next thing I knew, I had unexpectedly crashed into a broad, warm chest.
"Be careful." The man’s chest rose and fell slightly, and the faint, familiar scent of agarwood filled my senses.
Still shaken, I looked up and t a pair of deep, dark eyes. My face was reflected in their light brown irises.
’Sebastian Forrest?’
"Thank you, Senior Forrest." I quickly pulled back from his embrace, my face feeling a little hot.
By the ti I finally finished ordering and returned to our table, I was covered in sweat from being squeezed by the crowd.
Perhaps it was because I was finally eating a delicacy I hadn’t had in so long, but my mood improved considerably along with it.
However, before we could finish eating, Chloe Miller got a call from her company saying she had to go back for a eting.
"Then finish eating before you go." I was worried Chloe would go to work on an empty stomach.
Chloe couldn’t be bothered with appearances at that point. She lifted her bowl, shoveled in a few mouthfuls, took a big gulp of broth, and then grabbed her bag to leave. "Okay, I’m full. I’m heading out."
"Be careful on your way out!"
After seeing Chloe off, it was just Sebastian Forrest and .
A mont ago, Chloe had been keeping the mood lively, so the atmosphere had been relaxed and pleasant.
Now that Chloe was gone, things felt a bit awkward.
"Um..."
"You..."
I had just opened my mouth to break the ice when I realized Sebastian Forrest was about to speak too.
"You first..."
"You first..."
We spoke at the sa ti again.
Sebastian Forrest’s lips curved. "Are you full? Want to take a walk around the university? A little trip down mory lane?"
"Can we get in?" I was tempted. "I thought they didn’t allow non-university personnel inside?"
I hadn’t been back to Kington University since graduation. I really missed those carefree university days.
"Why not? Let’s go."
Soon, Sebastian Forrest drove to the university gate. The barrier arm didn’t move, forcing the car to stop, and a guard quickly approached from the security booth.
"Hello, the university is conducting strict checks recently. No outside personnel are allowed."
I turned to look at Sebastian Forrest, a little disappointed. "Maybe we should just forget it..."
Sebastian Forrest just smiled. Then, the window rolled down, and he looked at the guard. "Can we go in now?"
Who would have thought the guard would imdiately switch to a fawning deanor? "Of course, you can."
Right after that, the barrier in front of us rose automatically, and Sebastian Forrest drove smoothly onto campus.
I looked back at the guard at the gate in astonishnt. "How... how did they let us in?"
"Maybe it’s because I’m handso."
"..."
I never expected Sebastian Forrest to make a joke like that, even if it was the truth.
The Two Jades of Kington University.
Even Theodore Grant, the man I had fallen head over heels for, was ranked behind Sebastian Forrest. Back then, this man had far more admirers than Theodore.
The Kington University campus was huge.
Sebastian Forrest found a random spot to park the car, and then he followed as I wandered around.
I thought I’d be excited to walk down mory lane, but no matter where I went, most of the mories that surfaced were related to Theodore Grant.
After walking around for a bit, I started to lose interest.
"Senior Forrest, I’m a little tired. Let’s go back."
Sebastian Forrest didn’t seem to mind my fickleness and imdiately started driving toward the university gate.
But just as we reached the gate, the car was surrounded by people.
When I got a clear look at the man in the lead, my jaw dropped in surprise. "Prin... Principal Sutton?"
Sebastian Forrest smiled at and unbuckled his seatbelt with one hand. "Co on, let’s get out and say hello to the principal."
Dazedly, I followed Sebastian Forrest out of the car and was quickly surrounded by a circle of university leaders.
It took a long while of listening to understand that Sebastian Forrest had just donated a huge sum of money to Kington University last month—hundreds of millions. And it wasn’t just for this year; he would be making continuous long-term donations to fund the university’s military technology research projects.
It was only then that I belatedly realized why the guard had let us through earlier.
For a benefactor of this magnitude, never mind just letting him pass—even the principal had to bring a whole group of university leaders to personally greet him.
"Master Forrest, this young lady looks a bit familiar." For so reason, Principal Sutton’s gaze landed on , and he looked at with a smile. "Is she also one of our Kington University students?"
"Hello, Principal. I’m a graduate from the class of ’19, from the Broadcasting and Hosting departnt. My na is Chelsea Joyce."
"Oh, oh, I rember you..." Principal Sutton said as if in a mont of sudden realization, a broad smile on his face as he looked at us. "I can’t believe it’s been two years since graduation, and you two are still together. When are you getting married? You have to be sure to send us so wedding candy when the ti cos."
"..."
I knew Principal Sutton must have mixed things up and I quickly tried to explain, but before I could say a word, Sebastian Forrest, who was standing beside , just smiled, nodded, and said, "Okay. We definitely will."
