I couldn’t help but frown slightly. "You’re the one who hard my brother, aren’t you?"

But William Westwood just smiled. He slowly straightened the thin blanket covering his legs, then looked up at with a grin. "What happened to your brother? Do tell. I could use a good laugh."

"You..."

Just as I was about to lose my temper, Sebastian Forrest gently gripped my wrist. I instinctively turned my head and saw him give an almost imperceptible shake of his head, signaling not to be impulsive.

I took a deep breath, forcibly suppressing the anger that was welling up, and turned my head away.

"Mr. Westwood, it’s best not to take credit for things you haven’t done."

Sebastian Forrest’s voice was unhurried, but the powerful aura he’d cultivated from years in a position of authority was not to be underestimated. It was incredibly intimidating. "My wife is worried about her brother’s safety. If, in a mont of panic, she loses her composure and accidentally injures you, Mr. Westwood, wouldn’t that be a terrible injustice to you?"

Hearing this, I looked at Sebastian Forrest, my face a mask of astonishnt. ’What does he an?’

’Could it be that William Westwood *wasn’t* the one behind what happened to my brother?’

William Westwood raised an eyebrow slightly. When he looked at Sebastian Forrest, his gaze held a newfound sense of admiration and respect. "Mr. Forrest, what makes you so sure I wasn’t the one who hard your wife’s brother? You should know the history between us. For the things he’s done, dying a hundred tis over wouldn’t be enough to quench the hatred in my heart!"

Sebastian Forrest gave a lazy smile. "Because you wouldn’t dare."

Hearing this, the smile on William Westwood’s face faded slightly, his eyes now fixed intently on Sebastian Forrest.

But Sebastian Forrest seed completely oblivious to the suppressed anger in his eyes, continuing on as if to himself. "No matter how much of a scoundrel Donovan Joyce is, he’s still my brother-in-law. For that reason alone, you wouldn’t dare touch him."

As they locked eyes, the atmosphere suddenly grew incredibly tense. I couldn’t help but clench my fists. I saw William Westwood’s bodyguard, who had been standing by his side, look at Sebastian and with extre wariness, and my own heart pounded with anxiety.

Just then, William Westwood suddenly burst out laughing. "That’s right. Mr. Forrest is right. I really wouldn’t dare touch him."

"They say even a mighty dragon can’t crush a local snake. This is the Forrest Family’s territory, after all. It’s only right and proper that I give Mr. Forrest so face."

Sebastian Forrest’s lips twitched into a slight smile, but he didn’t seem to appreciate the gesture at all. Instead, he got straight to the point. "My wife’s brother was driven to insanity. Do you know who did it?"

"How would I know that?" William Westwood chuckled. "Are you overestimating , Mr. Forrest?"

Sebastian Forrest just smiled. "I’m hoping you’ll enlighten , Mr. Westwood."

William Westwood’s gaze remained fixed on Sebastian Forrest for a few seconds before he suddenly broke into a broad smile. Shaking his head, he reached down to pull up the thin blanket that was about to slip off his lap. "I don’t actually know much," he began. "It’s just that on that day, by the ti my n arrived, Donovan Joyce was already incoherent."

"When I saw the state he was in, I figured it was indirect revenge for myself, so I just let him be, to fend for himself."

I glanced instinctively at Sebastian Forrest. ’But if it wasn’t William Westwood, then who could have done this to my brother?’

The thought had barely ford when a person imdiately popped into my mind...

’Could it really be... Theodore Grant?’

’But Theodore doesn’t have that deep of a grudge against my brother...’

’Not to ntion my brother was on his side. Logically, they should be the last people to beco enemies.’

"Thank you, Mr. Westwood. We won’t disturb you any further." Sebastian Forrest lowered his gaze slightly, and after expressing his thanks, he put an arm around my waist and started to lead out.

But before we had taken more than a few steps, we heard William Westwood suddenly speak up. "It seems the two of you already have a suspect in mind."

I looked at William Westwood, surprised and uncertain.

I saw the corner of William Westwood’s lip curl into a slight smile. "Miss Joyce, you should trust your instincts. The person you think is the least likely is often the most probable suspect."

My lips parted slightly, wanting to ask if he knew anything else.

But just then, Sebastian Forrest simply tossed out a "thank you" and led away.

Once we were out of the room and saw no one was around, I finally asked Sebastian Forrest, "Why didn’t you let ask him to clarify? William Westwood definitely knows sothing else..."

Sebastian Forrest just chuckled. "He knows jack shit!"

"..."

I pouted and shot him a glare. "Why would you say that?"

"Do you think his sources in Kington are better than mine?" Sebastian Forrest asked.

I shook my head without a second thought. "Of course not."

This was Sebastian Forrest’s turf, after all. Being called the heir of the Forrest Family wasn’t just for show.

"Exactly." Sebastian Forrest smiled and tapped the tip of my nose. "If even I couldn’t find anything out, what makes you think William Westwood, a cripple who can’t even walk, would know?"

"But... what if he just happened to see it!"

"If he really knew, he would have told us directly just now and earned a favor from . That ambiguous statent was just to ss with you."

After Sebastian Forrest’s explanation, I finally understood the convoluted logic behind it all.

I felt that people like them must live such tiring lives. They turn a simple sentence into a hundred twists and turns, their minds too deep to even try and fathom.

I couldn’t help but press my lips together. After pondering for a long while, I finally spoke, a little uncertain. "Do you think it could be Theodore Grant?"

Now that William Westwood, the primary suspect, had been ruled out, Theodore Grant had undoubtedly beco the most suspicious one.

But—

Why would he go after my brother?

What is he trying to hide?

"Isn’t it simple?" Sebastian Forrest’s large hand cupped the back of my neck, giving it a gentle squeeze. "Just go and ask him."

"He’ll never tell us."

"How do you know if you don’t ask?"

I looked at Sebastian Forrest, confused, wondering what trick he had up his sleeve.

However, before I could figure it out, Sebastian Forrest had already dialed a number.

Soon, the call connected, and Theodore Grant’s cool, deep voice ca through the receiver. "Hello?"

"Where are you? I need to see you about sothing."

Theodore Grant let out a cold laugh, his voice practically seething through clenched teeth. "Sebastian Forrest, how can you be so shaless? You stole my woman, and you still have the nerve to call ?!"

Sebastian Forrest snorted back, his tone as cold as ice. "I wonder who’s the shaless one here! If Chelsea hadn’t mistaken for you back then, you never would have even been in the picture!"

The sound of Theodore Grant’s heavy, ragged breathing ca through the phone. He was clearly furious.

"Se-bas-tian! For-rest!"

"I don’t have ti to bicker with you right now. Spit it out! Where are you? If you want to fight, let’s do it face-to-face. Cut the crap!" Sebastian Forrest said, his voice full of impatience.

"Good. Good. Good!" Theodore Grant was so angry he laughed. After repeating the word "good" several tis, he squeezed the next words out from between his teeth. "I’m at my office. I’ll be waiting for you!"
